Lindsey “cute as hell” Morgan bts: the 100
❝ His names Bandit – he’s friendly, i promise. ❞
“He better be friendly. I don’t think too many people would be letting him stick around if he wasn’t. What about you, kid? You got a name?”
“Not gonna lie, I could kill for a cigarette right about now.”
“Any reason in particular or just because it’s been so damn long since anyone has found any?”
“Borrowed” || Hawke & Indy
He heard her before he saw her, a big loud groan and uneven footsteps accompanied with metallic clicks and squeaks. Indy focused on tugging out one particularly stubborn bit of tubing. He nearly fell back when it eventually gave way.
“Dude, what are you even doing?” She questioned “You know that tube needs to go in the generator right?”
Indy turned around to regard his new visitor. She was slim with intelligent eyes and seemed fairly young, but the tool belt around her waist suggested she knew what she was talking about.
“It belonged in the old generator. This one is being reborn,” said Indy, smiling brightly. “With a few tweaks to the center spinning thingie, and give it some coolant it actually likes, I can make it increase the output by maybe as half as much. Also, this spot is totally bad feng shui, don’t you think?”
“Reborn? This is a hunk of machinery not a goddamn bird” Hawke looked at the array of items on the ground, unimpressed with what she was seeing. Pressure regulators- tubes- wires. This was why she hated working with unfamiliar people, she didn’t understand them. Nor did she want to.
With her back against the wall she slowly slipped down it until her bottom landed on the hard floor with a thud. It was painful- might have dislodged some of her stitches but she made an effort to hide the discomfort and slowly inched her way under to see what kind of mess this kid was making. He didn’t even know what the damn parts were called.
With her head underneath she gave her company a sideways glance, hardly believing the nonsense he was spewing “feng shui? Moving this thing is gonna risk ruining it. It hasn’t had proper maintenance in a year- no new upgraded parts- just improvisation from you guys. You move her and she might not ever start up again.”
“You look like you don’t weigh much, I think I can handle it.”He said with a slight shrug, half tempted to flex his muscles but quickly decided against it. Friendly wasn’t a word that Nash would use to describe himself, but he could take what he could get. He offered her a slight shrug, “Not everyone’s friendly I guess, didn’t know that I was either.”He said with a slightly nervous laugh, he didn’t know why but it was easy to be friendly to her. Once she was out in the hallway he lead her down the hall toward the engineering room.
Hawke’s eyes flicked down to his arms for a moment, lingers on them and watching as they moved under his shirt. She wouldn’t be surprised if it was really that easy for the boy “You just offered to literally carry a crippled girl out of this place in case shit goes wrong- that’s not the most unfriendly thing” she commented as the two made their way slowly through the busy hallway “I don’t think I’ll be going back to the base for a while, honestly. The man-cave is kinda- anyway, your generator needs some love so lucky you guys have me”
He never knew how to act around people when they cried–he was sure Hawke was the type of person that would probably shove him away if he moved to put his arm around her for a awkward hug so he stood planted by the door instead. “If something goes wrong I throw your ass over my shoulder and get you out of here, that’s a promise.”He said, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips as he looked back over to her. “Right this way.”He said moving to open up the door waiting for her.
“Yeah?” she asked, a hint of a laugh finally bubbling through at his words “I’ll you to it then- as long as you promise not to get yourself killed in the process” the last thing she wanted was for anyone to die for her or in place of her. She’d never be able to live with herself if that were the case. Adjusting herself she followed Nash, out and into the hallway before turning her head to face him as they closed the door “So- are all the people here as friendly as you, or was this a fluke?”
“You’re right I don’t get it.”He said honestly as he offered her a shrug, “We all have different trials and tribulations that we all go through and I’m sorry you lost your friend but you can’t just give up, you have to keep going forward.”He said quietly, finally tearing his eyes away from her. “You damn well know that your best chance of survival is in a group, not off on your own.”
There was a moment were her eyes filled with tears again, her chin quivered for a split second but she willed the emotion away. She didn’t need to turn into a fragile flower around him “Yeah, I know. But what happens when something goes wrong. I’m kind of fucked either way on these things. I’ve got a death certificate in my hand already I’m just waiting for someone to sign it” she let out a huff of a sigh, her eyes never leaving the boy in front of her “Alright- show me where engineering is. I have something I really need to do”
“You don’t know that, you’re just assuming that and you can’t make any assumptions.”He said sternly as his gaze shifted over her for a moment. “The only person that’s pitying you in this room right now is yourself.” He began to say, “You keep thinkin’ of yourself like that, thinkin’ that you’re just a crippled then that’s all people are gonna see you as–you get off your ass and prove yourself, prove you’re the person who I think that you are..other people will see you as that person too.”He said, not taking his eyes off of her.
Hawke nearly rolled her eyes at the boy. Maybe he had a point but they lived in a word based on the strong surviving- and she was the opposite now. Slow- bulky. If something were to happen and they were over run she was dead “I’m not even a whole person anymore. You don’t get it- Riley can have all the optimism in the world but this leg isn’t coming back” She paused for a moment, her body leaning on the crutches for support “And yeah, maybe I’m doing the whole self pity thing but I just lost my leg and my best friend- I think I deserve to wallow for a bit. There’s not much for me here anymore anyways”
“I realize that, all of our worlds sort of got tipped upside down.”He said quietly, ever since that night nothing had been the same–people were also starting to go missing and he didn’t understand it. “What do you mean on your own? Won’t you be going back to the base–? You’re not thinking of really going out there on your own are you? That’d be pretty stupid.”
“The base will probably take me out of engineering. Look- I don’t expect you to get it. You don’t feel eyes burning into you or hear the whispered words of people pitying you” she stated, not really wanting to get into any sort of conversation about this. No one would miss her, the only person who would even bat an eye was buried in a shallow grave with a shitty nameplate over it. “I don’t see much more of any option, alright? I leave and no one has to worry about the poor crippled girl”
“Borrowed” || Hawke & Indy
A set of tools were finally found on a messy workbench, thoughtfully already bundled up for him in a neat little box. A couple of radios in various states of repair lay abandoned and unloved on the bench. Clearly, someone knew their tech.
Indy hefted the tool box but paused for a moment, staring at it’s empty spot on the bench. He pulled a purple wildflower from his shirt pocket and left it there on bench in it’s place.
He headed back to the generator, making the beast spill its guts in no time at all. Parts littered the floor, and he was covered in grease, but Indy thought he was starting to make progress.
Learning to walk again was a weird feeling, but Hawke seemed to be managing fairly well, all things considered. The makeshift brace around her leg creaked and squeaked as she made her way up to the generators do to some simple maintenance on them- she had wanted to get her hands on those bad boys for a while now, had some ideas on how to make them more efficient.
Opening the door the petite girl let out a long groan. She wasn’t expecting company and honestly just preferred to work alone these days. No one could replace the effortlessness of working with Ace. They were in sync- understood each other and didn’t need to talk things through because they just clicked so well.
Looking down at the grease covered round, Hawke slipped her thumbs into the tool belt she carried and propped herself up against the door to the generator room “Dude, what are you even doing?” She questioned “You know that tube needs to go in the generator right?”
Raven Reyes in 2.06 “Fog of War”
“Humvees leave at 1pm sharp, after lunch. The boys might try and give you some hard time, because they are show offs. But I trust you’re capable to handle a few jerks, and do the job properly.”he said, nodding. “I was slightly surprised when I heard, but now that you say this, I understand. Hopefully you’re all settled. Riley is a great medic, listen what she says and see how you’ll progress.”
Just the feeling of someone having any sort of confident in her still brought a smile to her lips “Cool, I’ll be here at 12:55 then. And if the boys try to give me a hard time I have a fancy new metal leg I can introduce to their balls” Hawke had never been the type to take shit from anyone, her brother had always made sure of it and spent hours amused by the results “Can’t say the man-cave feels like home anymore to be honest. I change of scenery might be nice- and she is. She gave me one of my legs back. You people aren’t as bad as I initially thought”
“I had to ask.”he simply shrugged, meeting her gaze. “If you’re certain and offering, then you’re in. Could use more engineers out there. You heard when it’s go time?”he asked her. Taking a step closer, Travis crosses arms over his chest. “Little birdie told me you’ll stick around the hospital for a few. Is that true?”
“No clue- this was the first I heard about it but give me the details and I’ll be there” she stated, feeling oddly comfortable with the man. It was relieving being able to help again- even if it was still only in small doses “You heard right. Base might have taken me off engineering and put me in farming. Plus Riley thinks this leg might have a chance so we’re working on physical therapy or something”
Stepping towards her, Travis took a look at the brace that now enveloped her leg; it didn’t seem like the best piece but was also doing it’s job. “You could be. Are you sure you won’t held them back? Does your leg hurt? Don’t lie, I’ll know.”he asked directly, not taking chances if she was going to be a burden while outside. “I’ve been meaning to find you, though - got something I have to ask.”
“Do you take me for someone who would offer help if I thought it’d result in people getting hurt?” she questioned, feeling his hot gaze on her brace. She’d make something better now that she got the initial prototype sorted and working- something that looked prettier and less like a hunk of junk “Can’t feel a thing on my leg- bullet wound is still healing but the meds keep in manageable- why were you looking for me?”
He had noticed she had been crying–he wasn’t exactly good at helping people deal with anything emotional. If they needed help putting a gun together, learning to shoot–he was the guy but dealing with someone who was crying? That just wasn’t his forte. He cleared his throat awkwardly as he shuffled his feet for a moment. “Clearly you’re not fine.”He said stating the obvious as he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. “There isn’t a run scheduled for today so–”He began to say his voice trailing off clearly not taking the hint that she wanted to be alone. “So you stayin’ here now?”
“Seems that way” She nodded her head as she carefully made her way over the mess around her. She chose to ignore the comment about her not being fine- she didn’t want his sympathy. Taking a seat on her bed she looked around the mess of the room they were in, letting out a sigh “Look- a lot has changed for me. I won’t be here long- the second I get a good working brace sorted I’ll show myself out. No one needs a liability these days and I’m better on my own”
“We’re going out after next shift change. Guards to scout the area and continue the search for the girl; a few of our runners and engineers will be taking humvee’s to gather what we need for the wall. I want a guard on each vehicle along with them, understood? Let others know so they can divide in teams.”he said the fellow guards as they were done with their night shift; Travis was about to head inside, drop his shotgun and maybe go get that late breakfast. Turning around he could see a pair of eyes set on him. “You know it’s not nice to eavesdrop on people?”
“Well it’s the only way anyone ever tells me anything around here” Hawke placed her hands firmly on her hips. Finally relieved of the crutches after spending days locked away in the corner of the small room the hospital allotted for the engineers working on a brace for her leg. She was able to use it again- balance without the crutches and while it wasn’t the same. She was mobile again. Still in pain from the surgery but she’d get through it “Engineers are taking humvee’s right? Am I on that list of people- this is technically home base for me now”
“ She’s beauty, she’s grace , she’ll punch you in the face”
