it’s early morning when louisa leaves the box by lexa’s door– she takes her time to place the presents perfectly in front of her sister’s room. the older girl places a note above it all, looks at it and smiles: she’s been planning it for a while now and it looks perfect. and then she leaves.
“ To my little sister.
Happy birthday to us. Today is the day we can take a deep breath and say we survived one more year. Especially when I know how rough it was the year we had. And, Lexa, I must say, how incredbly proud I am of you. And how grateful I am for having you with me.
I hope you like your presents– I had a long search trying to find them. I see you a lot as Marianne in that book, you’ll see me as Elinor as well I’m sure. And I think you’ll like this necklace: it has a small pearl and it fits inside mine.
I’m not a fan of the date, but if you do wish to celebrate, I’d love to spend some time with you. I’ll be at the gym.
Have a lovely day, blue star. Happy birthday.
Louisa Pryde. ”
( The smaller one is Lexa’s. )
Lexa smiled softly at the presents her twin left her, pulling out her phone and shooting her a quick text.
Lexa: Thanks for the presents Nova, be on the lookout for yours.
