On the one hand, nowhere around here actually sells pumpkin pie spice mix. On the other hand, Starbucks decided to respond to the "The pumpkin spice latte has no pumpkin in it!" bullshit by adding some, which is atrocious. So yeah, not sure what to do there.
Pumpkin pie spice is one part of each: Ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves (optional: one part allspice)
Add a few shakes of that to a chocolate chip cookie recipe to transcend flavor into nirvana.
ALTERNATIVE FOR YOUR LATTES - GET YOU SOME TORANI SYRUP. They usually carry it at Smart & Final.
DaVinci Syrup also works.
I don’t know what actual measurement it is but if you put alcohol pour tips on those bottles it’s a four-second pour of either of those syrups to make a pumpkin spice latte (or steamer, or hot chocolate, or cappuccino, or mocha, or whatever drink you want to add pumpkin spice syrup to)
When I first started navigating in the English speaking parts of the internet, I legitimately thought the pumpkin spice thing was a joke. When I found out it was real, I thought you people over there in Starbucksland had very weird tastes because the name sounds very gross.
But reading the ingredients like this makes it actually seem pretty good. Except the nutmeg thing, I still don't know what that is. And the name doesn't fill me with confidence either.
Nutmeg is the ground up seed of this fruit:
It has a similar flavor profile to the other spices listed, but with more of an acrid kick to it if you don’t marry it with something sweet. If you’ve ever had eggnog, it’s the spice that’s usually added on top. Like all spices, it has a sordid, bloody history full of murder and colonialism, but unlike most spices, if you invest enough of it in one go it can make you very sick and delirious and, conceivably, even kill you! And if you can’t get your eggnog fix out of season and add nutmeg to your coffee to tide you over, you might add too much nutmeg, and end up halfway through your 9-5 job with deep body aches and misery from a very, very mild nutmeg overdose.
Also, it looks like a cursed demon heart, as you can see from the photo. The spooky red webbing that covers the seed is the aril, which is the source of the culinary spice mace (not related to the self-defense spray, originally made with a different unrelated spice, oleoresin capsicum, from hot chili peppers).
Nutmeg is my favorite spice because it keeps me on my toes and makes me have an existential crisis about the smallness and fragility of the world and the fact that history just keeps building on itself forever whenever I drink my eggnog.
Personally my go-to coffee spice is cardamom, but I hate standard drip coffee and typically add as many spices as possible to make it taste less like coffee.

i’d always read in low doses (much more than standard spicing levels but much less than the standard vomiting-and-hallucinations levels) that it made you mildly sedated and happy.
Hallucinogenic spices in coffee? That's not what English lessons teachers would tell you.

Hi there! If someone does remember this weirdo if mine, heh. I've tried to come back several times, but every time i have been dropped into artblock and was too confused just to hang out in there, without drawing... (Shame, what a shame! I have real problems with the guilty feeling, you see). But now on the side source i've suddenly noticed news about all this stuff with nsfw flags and became all like "WAIT WHAT", esp. as I also had problems with technical side and now none of my drawings are saved anywhere but this pages and the second one (noted as nsfw page, which actually contains only slight cruelty sketches). So, well. I'm here. And i still remember your awesome stories and arts, guys, literally through the ages! You are cool! And i still gope this heck with flags won't touch your prescious things and i'll be able to read aaall the missed parts after finishing my hardest exams (ha-ha, don't want to fly out of the univercity on the last year of the education, but still possible with my anxious acting). (Surely my english haven't became better. Hope it is still understandable). And - i have a tiny shop now. Where is, you know, NO NSFW. X) So probably will come back mostly with cute handmade stuff. (But Undertale is still in my heart). Feel free to write if you want, as I'm here for now. )
