Ian Dolton-Thornton is retiring as publisher of Publication Studio Oakland. The studio will continue as Publication Studio San Francisco with new publishers Lexi Visco and Mindy Seu, multidisciplinary designers collaborating between the east and west coast.

PS Oakland is an artist-run press. We are proud to have published work by Erin Jane Nelson, Martine Syms, Joel Dean, Christian Nagler, Brandon Drew Holmes, Mary Lum, Lara Durback, Melek Zertal, Matthew Endler and Quintessa Matranga, as well as collaborated with or shown the work of E.R. Conner, k.r.m. mooney, Leif Hedendal, Zoe Dering, Oki Sogumi, Anne Boyer, Kevin Killian and manuel arturo abreu.

Publication Studio Oakland is presenting books and other projects at the first San Francisco Art Book Fair this weekend, July 22-24, 2016.

Publication Studio Oakland presents Ancient Cup, a pop-up cafe, this Saturday, April 30th, from 10-4 at the Oakland Museum of California. The cafe will feature drinks by Leif Hedendal served in cups produced by Zoe Dering. Please stop by Saturday for a complimentary drink. If you're not thirsty, we'll be publishing some new projects in the next several months as well. The cafe is part of the Open Engagement conference.

Lara Durback is reading with Aldrin Valdez this Friday, December 11th, at The Poetry Project in New York, NY. Her book A Lizard, A Smashed Safe, And A Pillow (Encounter On A Walk In Oakland) is forthcoming with Publication Studio Oakland. A handful of advance copies of will be available at the reading.

March updates

Publication Studio Oakland artists have recently opened two shows in Chicago.

‘Petrichor’, an exhibition by Erin Jane Nelson, is on view at Document Space through April 25, 2015. She is the author of ‘Lollie, Penny, Poems’.

‘Soft Apprentice’, an exhibition by Matt Endler, is on view at Born Nude through April 18, 2015. He produced ‘A Peasant’s Perspective’, originally included in our 2014 exhibition at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. An updated edition is available to view on request at Born Nude.
