Amalia couldn’t hide the way her face brightened at the sight of the woman, easily giving her her full attention. “I can’t say I know why they’d give me that role, but if you’re Psyche, I’m not disappointed.”

her smile widened as she watched the other’s face brighten when eyes laid on her. “i am psyche so i’m glad you’re not disappointed by it. i will say though i’m sad that i haven’t seen you since you saved me that day. doctor’s schedules though, am i right?”

Gia pulled her lower lip between her teeth to prevent herself from commenting on the adorable blush weaving its way onto Ana’s cheeks. Normally, she wouldn’t think twice about it, but their current trajectory was heading a certain way and the event was proving a little too obscure to miss a moment of. “Hm, well that was the aim, cutie. But any more talk like that and we’re not going to be sticking around for the end of the evening.” She added with a salacious smirk, eyes glinting with amusement at the thought. “So can I get you a drink at least? Scotch neat if I remember correctly, or are we trying something new tonight?”     

the woman had to take a moment to look away from gia, shifting in her seat as her cheeks continued to deepen in color. “well. you might be right about that one,” she chuckled, meeting her eyes again. “you do remember correctly. and i would love another one. an open bar does have it’s perks.”

Open Starter

The night passed her in a blur and Amalia stared out at the dance floor with a half empty glass of wine in her hand. An odd sense of déjà vu troubled her to the point that she didn’t realize someone had come to join her at her little table. “Oh! Sorry. I wasn’t paying attention. Did you say something?”

anastasia smiled softly as she saddled up next to the other woman. the eros to her psyche apparently. “i was just saying that it was nice to find you again. i can see why the hosts picked you for the god of love.”

“you won’t even if you tried.” narcissus didn’t know how anyone could forget his name, let alone how good he looked. “you’re in a room full of gods. any of them would’ve taken a plus one amongst each other.”

“oh then i most definitely will try,” she sighed, finishing off her drink and setting it back on the bar. “okay... then why didn’t zeus bring hera? or the people playing them, they sat next to each other but didn’t seem to know one another well.”

“They really did. And gosh, I’m sure they would love you. You’ve been so sweet and kind and that’s all they could ever preach to me day in and day out.” Heather gave a larger grin, letting the other brush her under her chin while she felt a twinge of pride in her expression. “Of course I’m old enough! I may look a little young, but I can assure you…I am.” Her defensiveness came off a bit more crass than she intended, though she swiftly gave into another chuckle.

ana didn’t find heather’s tone hurtful in any way, she was the one teasing the other. she put her hands up in a surrender. “alright, alright, i give. you just look young. needed to make sure everyone here was at least over the age of 18,” she chuckled, taking a sip of her drink. “do you know the hosts? they seem to be people that know everyone.”

“Yeah…I can imagine that wasn’t the most homely of experiences.” Her own home life may have been the polar opposite, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t sympathise. “Baby you were better than I expected.” She teased playfully. “And that bar was already pretty high, so I’m just glad to hear I held up.”      

anastasia’s smile slowly started to grow the more she talked to gia. “well i’m beyond flattered,” she chuckled, feeling her cheeks heat up. “trust me, you more than held up. for the fact that i’m still thinking about it says enough doesn’t it?”

“and now that you have the name, you can’t forget it. i’ll never let you live it down if you do.” narcissus didn’t catch onto the eye roll, continuing to drink from his glass. “did you come here tonight with someone?”

“now i almost feel the need to forget it just to prove a point,” she sighed, plastering on a smile again as she turned back to face the other. “no i didn’t. wasnt sure if this was a party that allowed a plus one.”

“It absolutely has already been such a night to remember. We’ve been treated to such an amazingly beautiful place.” Heather couldn’t believe all that went into the decor and enjoyed the entire atmosphere. “Well, I’m sure my parents would love to hear you say that!” From Heather’s false memories, there was the fact that she was raised by two lovely women who taught her nothing but love. “We really do, like we planned this whole thing! I’m so glad you’re here!”

“they really have gone all out,” she chuckled, looking around the room at the extravagance. “they’ve done an amazing job with you,” ana teased the girl, brushing the underside of her chin as she once did when they were still gods. “and i’m really glad you’re here too, heather. do you want to grab a drink, hold on, are you old enough to be drinking?”

“not being convinced doesn’t mean i won’t enjoy it. the only reason i’m here is to enjoy it.” and be seen by as many of the gods as he could. “we’ve all got it, might as well use it for my advantage. i’m narcissus. and who might you be lovely?”

ana couldn’t help rolling her eyes as she sipped her drink. another egotistical man, just what she needed. “and i’m sure you will. i’m anastasia. glad to finally have a name for the face.”

“all we have to hope for is that it’s actually good.” he wasn’t completely convinced yet, unsure how many of them actually knew who they were. “my face is hard to forget. it’s one of a kind. i’m sorry i don’t remember seeing you around.”

“oh come on, at least let yourself enjoy it a little bit,” anastasia teased the other. “well with that ego, i can see why,” she smiled sweetly. “familiar face but no name i’m afraid.”

“Aren’t they just the best! I feel like I can truly let loose at a good party, and I definitely can’t wait for dinner. I heard they’re treating us entirely!” Heather gave the other a big smile, before admiring her dress. “I have no complaints running into one the most truly fashionable people of our day and age! Look at this…and the top trim! The figure! You really have outdone yourself!”

“i’ve heard the same. supposed to be a night to remember,” ana smiled, shaking her head as she turned to heather. “and you.. every time i run into you, you make me feel like a goddess. whoever raised you did it right,” she laughed, reaching out to admire the girl’s own dress. “and you? looks like we’re almost matching in color. seems we have great taste.”

“Yeah me too. It might be a little grand for my taste, but I can appreciate decadence for a night.” Gia chuckled faintly, a playful smirk winding its way onto her lips. “Well, I’d say we did a little more than run into each other…but it’s good to know I’m on your mind.” 

“agreed. reminds me of too many dinner parties my parents liked to throw,” she chuckled, smiling at gia. “well.. you’re not wrong there. i don’t think you could be off my mind though. unless i was not what you expected.”

“oh i love a good party!” anastasia mused, looking around the room and all the artistry. “i’m surprised to see you here though. i feel like i’ve run into you once and now i’m seeing you everywhere.”

“Fantastic!” Nemesis on the other hand was someone who felt the need to blend in until her moment, and as such, she managed to seamlessly prattle on about all of this and get to the point of entering the other’s lives. “Text me, seriously. we could definitely get together again, learn more about each other. I can’t help but feel like I must know you.” Entering the number of her own phone, she managed to swiftly hand it back and gave Psyche a smile. “It was lovely meeting you.” And still, it pained her to have to say that each and every time.

“it is odd to say that i feel the exact same way?” she chuckled, sipping her drink. “like i should know you. it’s written in the stars or something,” ana smiled, taking her phone back and sending off a quick text so the other would have her number. “and the night isn’t over yet. unless you have somewhere to be?”

“Oh my god, let me tell you, it was the last one in store, I almost had to fight this guy for it! And frankly, he would have pulled it off so well too!” Heather started into the story as quickly as she had to stop the woman in her tracks. “I am so sorry, I totally didn’t mean to interrupt whatever you were doing! But god…you are absolutely stunning…I’m…I’m” She was speechless, and she couldn’t even get the words out quickly enough. “You’re gorgeous, you know that right?”

“oh please, i doubt it would be as well. as you,” she chuckled, feeling the odd urge to hug the girl. anastasia’s smile was shy as she shrugged. “so i’ve been told. but please tell me you know the same. however your parents are must have very good genes.”

“Right…the dread can be overwhelming to say the least.” and lest she draw upon them anymore around the other who seemed far too positive for her own good to bring down with her. ana smiled as the other understood. it felt nice to meet someone that just got it without asking so many questions. “i would love to grab your number. here.” grabbing her phone, she unlocked it and slid it over to the other. “anything? oh i don’t know about that. but i will definitely text you.”
