can we all remember a little something about josh washington’s past his mental illness developed when he was seven, or at least that is what the doctors deduced. he was institutionalized for the first time in 2006, at age eleven. the medicines they started him off on were incorrectly diagnosed, making him physically ill. theses medicines and supplements were changed frequently because of adverse reactions. at one point, young josh was basically living in a hospital because they couldn’t balance a growing boys hormones. he had been on antidepressants and mood stabilizers so long that his mood levels had plateaued; he couldn’t get happier even though he wasn’t getting sadder. his father is a film producer and thus was never home, so he began to rely on his sisters. after his sisters ‘disappeared’ in 2013, he spiraled into an irreversible depression, and a suicide attempt was marked on his medical record. this attempt caused his psychiatrists to rework his medicines yet again, despite the fact that they had finally been working, and the new pills made him physically ill again. so josh stopped taking his pills shortly before the second lodge trip. he had a psychotic break, and basically broke down. before you go blaming him with no remorse, think of this, then form an opinion.

#this is written like a defense attorney's closing statement. love that #now that i've spent a year on the wrong meds and it almost ruined my life i have a brand new understanding of josh #i always had empathy for him but i didn't know how it actually feels to take the wrong meds and then withdrawal from them #i was fucking up all my relationships. my thoughts didn't make any sense. i didn't care about consequences #i'm so thankful i have supportive people in my life who gave me time and room to return to myself #but if something traumatic had happened to me in that time period i wouldn't have been able to cope. literally i wouldn't have known how #i'm forever going to scream from the rooftops that josh did nothing wrong #ref #josh
