[ ID: a flag with three large concentric shapes, shifted upward from the center, on a dark grey background. the shapes from the largest to smallest are: a wide grey circle, a wide oval that almost comes to a point near the bottom and is light grey on the left and lighter grey on the right, and a skinnier very light grey oval that doesn't reach the bottom. in the middle of the flag, shifted down, is a large black fleur-de-lis symbol with a thick white outline. /End ID ]

Why are you using a symbol of the French/Creoles/Cajuns and it not being for that culture? In what universe does the fleur makes you feel "regal, youthful, and ethereal"?
I suggest you to use something else. I do not want our culture to continue to be erased and forgotten.
literally I only chose it because its often used in vine patterns and otherwise resembled gilded scrolls and is a lily. I knew it had french origins but I didnt care at the time bc its france. not some closed culture and one of the most well known countries in europe. n all I know about creoles n cajuns is theyre the remnants of european colonization across the world but mainly the americas?
Ill change it by the end of the day for me since its a problem. I did not think of any subsitute symbols for it at all so Im going to have to look. thanks for bringing it to me in a kind and respectful manner
I love how a race of people that went through an attempted genocide via forced displacement (where thousands of them died) is being simplified down to "remnants of colonization". (Look into Le Grand Derangement)
Creoles/Cajuns are a RACE of people. Nice erasure of POC and BIPOC whose culture has survived but is slowly dying BECAUSE of the erasure of their race and culture.
Also the Fleur-De-Lis is a staple of Louisiana, home of most Creole/Cajuns. Also, the (dying) language for Creoles/Cajuns is Cajun French. Because Creoles/Cajuns were forced from French colonies.
point being Im changing it. this is about a flag that happened to use a symbol I didnt know was cultural
please do not nitpick my wording. I dont know every single piece of culture or history and Im doing my best to learn and to accomodate but Im still being hounded down over simple WORDING mistakes. I never implied they werent POC, I never said they werent a race or didnt experience discrimination. you fabricated that information. I just dont know much about them so I googled it and google said "yeah theyre descendants of french colonies". that doesnt make them any less POC so long as theyre being racialized by their goverment or something I DONT KNOW!!
you expect everyone to know everything and punish people for the smallest gaps in information. the truth is Im not an anthropologist, I truly dont know anything. I JUST learned what creole and cajun is. Im trying to learn. youre punishing another POC for trying to learn
Yeah this might be a hot take to the other ppl in the notes but being hostile and accusing people of being racist or POC/BIPOC erasure over just not fucking knowing something ISN'T GOING TO HELP, DUMBASS. You are making people scared to look into things because if they are wrong about something, or don't know something, they will be attacked. Gettt a better hobby. Kiru, you are doing great and I am proud of you for taking the time to try and learn things and correct yourself when you are wrong /gen
