his mouth opens, as though to make a remark ( as quick-tongued as ever ), but then it shuts. serious shawn moment — now wasn’t the time for him to be so tactless. not when she knew the truth, not when he had something so important to him on the line. ❝ apologize for lying to you. ❞ he never intended to hurt anyone through this, had never planned on gaining so much that it might actually hurt to potentially lose it all. he doesn’t miss the way she shifts herself even the slightest away from him, observant brain seeming to highlight the tear that trails down her cheek. something twists in his chest as he takes in the expression on her face --- and he doesn’t know what to do to fix it.
