Transness really is the final front of the patriarchy. Thousands of years of men dehumanizing women, making them feel alien in their own bodies, enslaving them, committing unspeakable crimes against them and now the oppressor can become one.

Not only can men take your identity and according to them determine who ‘is the better woman’ (based on who they determine looks better) but they also experience the worst form of oppression out of any women and are suddenly responsible for any rights women have ever received

thinking about sexual violence in schools again, and how the idea that “they’re children” dissuades people from recognising that a whole lot of men were violent serial sexual predators before they even hit adulthood. Like there are a lot of men who routinely sexually assaulted female peers — they didn’t pull a girl’s bra strap once, they would every day sneak up and crush her breasts, slap her, tell her they were going to rape her etc., you know how they are, and it’s sort of psychologically separated from the concept of sexual violence in the mind of the public because the attacker was 14 at the time he was doing imprisonable violent misogynist crimes.

Also, a lot of teachers are willingly complicit in all of it. So much of rape culture is kind of subliminal, but there are a lot of teachers who will see a sex crime happening right in front of them and literally tell the girl being victimised to just shut up and let the boy attack her, that she’s not allowed to fight back. Of course you get all manner of social consequences even as an adult for being targeted by men, even if you don’t fight back, but so many women have had the experience of schools giving them direct, specific punishments for being the victim of sexual violence. There are girls who’ve been given detentions and suspensions for being assaulted, for being not an easy enough rape.

This and the fact that pedo behavior starts before men reach adulthood. You definitely knew some guy in high school that was messing with a girl too young for him despite being a minor himself

If there’s one thing I’ll always appreciate my dad for it’s him showing me how bad being married to a man is.

I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.

And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.

Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.

TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.

Probably one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard in my life. Yes feminism the social movement made by women for women to liberate them from centuries of oppression should stop being so ‘regressive’ and just applaud anybody for doing the miraculous task of making a decision.

And part of this ‘better’ version removed from the complexities of women’s oppression is to allow anyone to do anything. Even if it’s supporting the degradation of your sex, or includes letting vulnerable people make permanent life decisions about mutilating body parts, or allow the sell and rape of the female body because of course prostitutes are famous for willingly choosing that line of work.

Choice feminism at its most corrupted form.
