“I guess that’s fair, I wouldn’t buy pudding without wanting it either.”
“You will? I’ll have to find a way to repay you. Maybe a song? Girls seem to like that a lot.”

“I was hoping you wouldn’t want it, to be honest. Or... that you’d wanna share.”
“Cheap food? Canned food!? Whaddaya take me fer? No, no, no, ya ain’t had any real food ‘till ya had Okonomiyaki at Libby’s– Ah, I’ll take ya. Don’t worry ‘bout the bill; I’ll take care o’ it.”
“Wh---really?”
“Are you sure? I didn’t mean it like that---! I mean, I guess I am hungry but...”
Cue his stomach growling. The offer was sudden but generous and kind. He wanted to politely decline however Tamaki had learned in his youth to never pass up a free meal. Especially when he wasn’t sure when the next one would come around.
“I promise I won’t eat much! Th-thank you!”
“ Ara, no way! Today’s just especially good. ”
Although she couldn’t say that she was much acquainted with this place, at least it was clear enough to anyone who had been here for a time that the weather functioned much like it had back in life – or at least back in Arashi’s life. There were both good and bad days, especially in this moment where two different seasons overlapped. Still, if she guessed right and this person was new, that was some interesting priorities he had right there.
“ It almost feels like summer is coming instead of spring, doesn’t it? Ufufu~ I can’t wait~! ♪ ”
“Oh...”
When he thought about it more, it was a rather silly question. He hadn’t been in this world for long and to assume anything was probably not the best strategy. However, his question was humoured at the very least.
“That would be nice, actually. Spring is a bit too wet for my tastes.”
There was a short pause in which Tamaki began to feel a bit awkward. Small talk wasn’t necessarily his forte but considering that he was rather alone since his new circumstances, perhaps it was time that he gave it a bit more effort. Other worries that he had could wait until later.
“Ah, sorry... for jumping that question on you. I guess it’s easy to tell that I just got here. There’s so much to take in... it’s overwhelming.”
One downside to being more adept at battle than casual situations was a constantly being on edge. He had heard the stranger’s words, and in reaction he turned to face them.
“… May I help you?”
“Ah---!”
Whoops! The boy jumped, unaware that he had been staring. Embarrassed, Tamaki glanced away for a second to break contact, however he had been caught red handed.
“S-sorry, it’s just... your outfit. It reminds me of home... sort of.”
“Great!” Perfect!
“Why not? Everyone wants to come to America.” Anyone who didn’t was clearly crazy. Or maybe even, gasp… communist! Exactly the type of person who would say America wasn’t the best at something.
:What!? American pudding is the best! It’s called Jell-o!”
“Gel... Oh?”
If there was ever a method to confuse him, this was it. Tamaki’s head cocked to the side, an eyebrow raised as if he were told a joke that he didn’t find very amusing.
“Why would you name a pudding after gel? It’s nothing like gel. That sounds disgusting. King’s Pudding sounds way better, like something you actually want to eat.”
HEY FRIENDS im sorry its been a long and busy week for me (by which i mean it was my first week back from vacation and i was dying at the end of each work day bc what is moving around when on vacation)

The jackets for MEZZO"’s CD have been revealed! The one on the left is drawn by Arina-sensei herself, and the one on the right is drawn by Fukugawa Kasumi! (If I’m reading that correctly)
The CD comes out on May 11!
Iowa put a finger on her mouth thinking hard about it. “Hmmm. Ok fine you can have a shirt. But then you have to have pompoms too.” That was non-negotiable.
“Don’t worry, America is the land of the free! You’ll be welcome there for sure.”
“Pompoms... that’s okay, I guess.”
“Wait, I didn’t agree to do any of this!” Technically, he agreed to the pompoms, however he didn’t like the direction of where this conversation was going.
“I never said I wanted to go there either. The pudding there isn’t even that good.”

“The weather here isn’t always this nice, is it? It seems a little too unreal.”
Figuring out what he should prioritize through others who appeared to be more settled was the only thing he had to go on if he wanted to last in this place he had to call ‘home’. Also, he didn’t have much clothing to protect him from the elements but he was sure that wasn’t this person’s concern.
“I’ve been on TV a bunch of times, I’m really famous!”
Her be a backup dancer? “No way! You’re the boring one. You can be my backup dancer instead! You’ll wear star spangled underwear, and nothing else!” She leaned back confidently.
“Trust me, you’ll do great!”
“Wait---I don’t want to wear that!”
Was this girl for real? Tamaki tried to remain calm but the flush slowing starting to creep along his cheeks was beyondf his control, “I can’t be seen on TV like that! I’m not even American!”
“Huh? Nobody’s gonna watch? Then there’s no point.”
“Not fair? But it’s your fault if you’re not exciting.” Iowa patted him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, just cause you’re not a flagship battleship like me, you can still do lots of great things. I’ll make sure you’re free to be whatever you want to be! That’s the American way!”
She looked like a human as far as he could tell but it was probably best not to question someone who had an arsenal.
“I want to be on television. It doesn’t really matter how but singing is the easiest way. I guess you can be a backup dancer if you want to help,” a small quip? Or perhaps he actually meant it, “We’d get a lot of attention that way.”

“A festival... maybe?”
Sure, he had already seen his fair share of different people while exploring the area but the robes of one caught his eye, his gaze fixated while not minding the one wearing them.
“Don’t worry, I’ve done loads to practice firings.”
“You’re boring though. Even I can sing like that. Everyone loves it when a fire my cannons though. Boom! It’ll be exciting!”
“It doesn’t really matter if you can sing like me or not. We aren’t on stage. Calling me boring isn’t fair, I don’t have cannons to fire or anything fancy like that to work with.”

“Hey! Quit your singing, I can’t concentrate on my firing ordinances!”
“Don’t worry, my shelling is gonna be way louder then you anyway. Don’t you have some headphones? You’ll go deaf if you’re this close when I fire.”
“Sorry.”
“But that’s dangerous. Should you be firing in public like that? My form of practice is a lot safer.”
