Crazy Breeders!
So I was in conversation to buy a ragdoll kitten from a breeder in NY (Vanillabelle). Anyhow, I have never owned a cat, but I have done extensive research on this breed, their personality, and even my allergies to make sure they are the right fit for me. She asked me for a vet reference and I explained the above and the fact that I was waiting until I was in a stable home before making a 20 year commitment. She just responded with "ok. Sounds good"..... So does this mean I can buy from you? It dawns on me that my pet sitter will act as a reference. So I ask if this would help. She reads the message and ignores me. Well that answered my question as far as I was concerned, she isn't comfortable selling to me. That's fine. I understand the concern of wanting make sure your guys go to good homes.
Flash forward a few days. I already had other breeders in mind that I had left on the back burner based on distance. The one in FL perfectly met my needs and was super sweet to discuss everything with. Everything felt perfect so I put a deposit down. Excited, I jumped on the Facebook Ragdoll Group that I was in and wrote a post that I was getting my first baby in November and I couldn't wait to share pics and stories. One of the girls commented asking if the breeder I found was in PA. I told her no, she's in FL and started to explain that I had issues with local breeders (not details, just a basic statement). I decided it wasn't appropriate and quickly removed it and messaged her privately instead. She was looking to buy a kitten in the near future and was doing research on local breeders. Another girl posted asking for breeders in FL so I linked the girl I'm going through.
Anyhow, I notice the next day that I'm no longer seeing ragdolls on my feed. I go to the group page and see I'm no longer a member. Figuring it was a mistake or glitch I try to rejoin and get rejected quickly. I try joining a few other ragdoll groups, some I am accepted, others I am quickly rejected. After looking through I realize that the ones where I am being rejected all share a common admin, Bobbi from Vanillabelle. So I guess she's mad that I'm not buying a ragdoll from her? But why, she clearly didn't want to sell to me. What's with the rude behavior? Someone definitely has an ego. Just because you are good at something does not mean you can act like a total jerk when someone has decided not to buy from you. So anyone looking to buy a ragdoll I urge you to look anywhere but at Vanillabelle. End rant.
