Babylon Revisited and Other Stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald
December 15, 2017 (cont.)
“Jonathan Joseph Keeley makes you really fucking happy. And that’s all that matters anymore. My sweet boy. Love.
He’s your sweet boy and you’re his sweet girl. That really is all that matters. There’s love.”
I believe that love that is true and real creates a respite from death. All cowardice comes from not loving, or not loving well, which is the same thing. And when the man who is brave and true looks death squarely in the face like some rhino hunters I know, or Belmonte, who's truly brave. It is because they love with sufficient passion to push death out of their minds, until the return that it does to all men. And then you must make really good love again. Think about it.
Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris

“Driving home to ol’ MI. Exams ended up going pretty well. That’s good stuff. Johnny is awesome. I like him so so much. We watched one of his favorite movies, Midnight in Paris, last night and it was so beautiful and awesome. The writer character of course made me think of him + I’m sure that’s one of the reasons he loved the film. And all the historic idols including his fav (F. Scott Fitzgerald) + the love stories woven in between. It was so nice + lovely to watch with him. There’s this one scene where Ernest Hemingway tells the main character that loving fully is what eliminates fear, and he speaks so eloquently + firmly and it almost felt like my heart stopped and everything in the world went silent and I was just there with Johnny, wrapped in by his arms + each word spoken in the movie. It was the kind of good/great quote that you don’t even think to write down- you just let it overtake you and it resonates with you from there on. I’ll still probably have to look it up again at some point. Or maybe just watch the movie again.”
