˚₊‧꒰ა . — ˗ˏˋ ✮ ˎˊ˗ — ˖ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ —— love had totally been in her own world before elkie called for her attention. she looked up from her book, a mischievous smile already tugging at her lips as she marked the page with her finger. “oh, this?” she asked, holding up the cover for elkie to see a little better. the illustration of two women staring at each other longingly, hands on each others waists - it definitely was easy to put two and two together. “it’s this gl novel i’ve been hooked on lately. you know, the kind of taboo workplace romance between a doctor and a receptionist,” her cheeks tinged with a bit of colour. “it’s a little controversial, but that’s what makes it so fun. they’re sneaking around, trying to keep things professional while totally failing at it. it’s messy, but i can’t help but love this kind of drama. where it’s not quite realistic, but there are a lot of highs and lows that keep you on the edge of your seat. i won’t even get into the spicy scenes…” love closed the book, her eyes twinkling with excitement as she got to speak about one of her favourite things in the whole world. “do you ever read these kinds of things? i have like a million of them at home – i could lend you some if you wanted. most of them are in thai, but i have a few korean manhwa's too - i bought them to try help me learn the language better. uh... comprehensible input, or whatever it's called.”
her gaze follows the book as it's shown to her, confirming her suspicions on the topic. there's a hint of curiosity as she glances over each of the characters. from the moment love started talking, she can't help the soft smile that was drawn upon her features with how obviously in her element the other was talking about the novel. it was so endearing to see. it's also amusing, too, as she gets into more details about the scandalous plot. elkie herself blushes in the slightest at the image painted– she's a healthcare professional, after all, so the scenario is indeed quite taboo. but it's fiction, and she gets the appeal, even if she hasn't ever picked up a book of the sort, "i... actually haven't. i've always been curious but i never got around to it." elkie sat back. "really? would you let me borrow one? i would really like to give it a try." she closed her laptop and rested her hands on top of it, fingers fidgeting along the smooth surface, "actually... it's even better if they are in thai. i'm still slow at reading korean so i wouldn't want the first one i try to be too hard to get through, maybe i'd even misunderstand some things." especially not being familiar with the genre. "i would need you to recommend one. maybe something lighthearted, for starters."
˚₊‧꒰ა . — ˗ˏˋ ✮ ˎˊ˗ — ˖ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ —— “i could hear your frustration from the living room – i thought i’d better step in before things got too serious,” she jested. luckily, junhwi didn’t seem like the kind of girl who would start breaking things out of frustration. at least, not to a dangerous degree. “whether it’s a nice day outside or not is very subjective. it was raining and a little windy, but i like it that way. it kinda wakes me up a little bit,” she told her. yeji had thought the stress of being on a web-show would be enough to make her feel something. but even though the stress sat uncomfortably in her chest, she was still just as drained as ever. it was a little embarrassing to admit that she romanticized the rainy weather – it felt like the world understood how she was feeling, somehow. it was stupid, so she didn’t say it out loud. “i’m sure you’ll improve your time soon enough,” she gestured to the game with her cup, “but why don’t you play something else for a little bit, just to give yourself a break?”
"is it just emanating from me, like this dark, angry energy?" she questioned with a quirked eyebrow, a playful smile decorating her face. junhwi took another sip of her drink as she listened to her roommate. her smile softened at the explanation and she nodded her head, "i think that's great. gray days like this are often called bad days... so if you enjoy them, it's one less thing to worry about. at least you know it won't make things worse. even better if it wakes you up, i'd say!" she shrugged. junhwi didn't care for rainy days, but they don't bother her either. if she doesn't have anywhere to be, she might even enjoy them sometimes. she looked at the monitor as she considered the point yeji was making, humming as she glanced over at her, "i should do that... but! i won't be able to focus, because i will keep thinking about this." junhwi explained with a sigh. "but i should take a break. maybe i can get distracted with something else, at least enough to come back with a fresh mind. it was good that you got me to look away from the screen, actually."
𝜗𝜚 ji haerim (지해림) 𝜗𝜚 thirty one 𝜗𝜚 bisexual, she/her 𝜗𝜚 marketing specialist 𝜗𝜚
after trying out the dating scene and less than a handful of serious relationships, haerim decided she was simply going to indulge in her desires instead, without going for anything deeper. she doesn't think she's long, committed relationship material… or at least, she hasn't found someone that can change her mind.
cw: alcohol/drug mentions.
birthday: december 17th, 1992.
age: 31.
orientation: bisexual.
zodiac: sagittarius, monkey
mbti: estp.
hometown: seoul, south korea
languages: korean (native), english (fluent)
virtues and vices
dependable; charming; confident; smart; creative; assertive; organized; disciplined; firm; trustworthy; loyal; straightforward; leader; good planer; thoughtful; honest. low tolerance for things not going her way, bossy; severe; detached, jaded; cocky; spiteful; smoker.
𝜗𝜚 background
putting things simply: haerim's not used to being told no. her family's wealthy– not so much that she was disconnected from reality, but enough that she never struggled and had access to good education. product of an untimely mishap when her mother was nineteen, her family consists of her single mother and a younger sister, who haerim had to look out for a lot while their mother was too busy working. between equally detached grandparents and nannies who were just doing their job, haerim never fully learned to lean on others emotionally, but she was a great support for her younger sister, making sure to provide what she unfortunately couldn't have.
her relationship with her mother isn't exactly bad now, as a grown adult she gets along with her better than ever. fully out of the closet, haerim managed to live unapologetically when it comes to her sexuality. her mother wasn't exactly thrilled at first but didn't make a fuss either, considering she's quite open about her own sex life.
just like her mother, haerim went straight into the corporate life, managing to climb fast enough both through her genuine skills– and some contacts in the right places. she's not exactly proud of that, but she tells herself she still deserves it: and she is damn good at her job.
haerim got to start exploring from her teen years. while seoul isn't exactly progressive, it's surprisingly easy to get away with making out with girls during high school and college without anyone making such a big fuss about it. it helped that none of her relationships there got too serious, so keeping things under wraps was mostly easy. she also saw some men during this time, but she quickly figured out that while she can like some guys, she does not like masculinity in her partners. so it's easier to stick to women or androgynous identities.
it was during her early to mid twenties that haerim had some longer, more serious relationships, but after none of them really seemed to go well, feeling like they would drag her life plans in some way or another, she decided she was simply going to indulge in her desires, without going for anything more serious. she doesn't think she's long, committed relationship material... or at least, she hasn't found someone that can change her mind.
she's had her fair share of wild nights– drinks fairly often, too. haerim has also tried different recreational drugs, but the only one she comes back to every few months is lsd– a little scared of korea's severe laws when it comes to drugs to risk doing much more than that.
joining soulmates was an easy decision. a friend sent her a link with information about the show and she immediately designed to sign up. she likes attention and she doesn't mind the spotlight. she also isn't beneath giving into a little bit of drama here and there... this show was exactly what haerim needed to spice her life up even further.
𝜗𝜚 relationships & sexuality
haerim is the type to take the initiative, from flirting to picking the plans– and in bed. she's dominant, mostly, but she doesn't mind letting her partner have some fun. she's weaker to brats than well behaved subs, but she likes both. she's open to relinquishing control... but only with a lot of trust.
she's upfront about her intentions, so she doesn't feel too guilty to put up her distance if a fling or hookup ends up getting a little too attached to her. however, despite being direct and clear, her charming behavior and intensity might rightfully give someone mixed signals. she does not intend to hurt, but intent≠impact, and she's aware of this.
𝜗𝜚 wanted connection/plots
unless otherwise specified, all connections could flourish into anything, or nothing at all.
─ the regular(s). a one night stand that turned into countless nights. no strings attached, they both seem to understand there's nothing more than sex to it. finding each other in seoulmates could either be fantastic or terrible news. the relationship could stay like that, could delve into something else: be it some drama, or maybe more. depends.
─ hookups. well. she did say she was here for one reason...
─ i can changer her. someone naive enough to think they can change haerim's ways and make her settle down. maybe they convince her to have dates and end up in some sort of situationship. while the sentiment is unhealthy in its core, whether it works or not... time will tell.
─ head over heels. haerim just can't stop pampering this person. it's not unusual for her to shower others with gifts/affection to seduce them, but the infatuation seems to go a little deeper here. whether it's real or some fixation, haerim chases while continuing to claim she doesn't want anything serious: truth is, she has no clue what she wants, it's confusing.
─ pupil. someone who needs a boost of confidence or help/guidance. while haerim can be a little volatile romantically, she's a reliable friend and a good older sister. she would gladly take under her wing anyone who needs genuine help navigating different situations: from recently coming out and finding a place in the community, to career advice. platonic.
─ told you so. a close friend that calls haerim out in her bullshit. they are not intimidated by her in the slightest so they can get through to her when she's being unreasonable. in return, haerim is a really good friend to them as well. they've got each other's back, but it's good for haerim to have someone who knows how to shut her up and help her see when she's doing something wrong (like accidentally breaking another person's heart). platonic.
─ kiss and tell. another person with a similar outlook in life, relationship wise, so they can talk about their experiences and conquests, gush about potential new partners or just gossip with like long time friends (or maybe they are long time friends?) platonic.
ooc: always open to plot and brainstorm for any other sort of connections/plots.
armed only with a stuffed-full basket and a bottle of detergent balanced precariously on top, juri steeled herself for the impending battle; weekly laundry. she never had good luck with communal laundry rooms, and something about the washing machines here were particularly vindictive.
she enters the room just in time to watch the washing machine take another victim. in a brief moment of panic, her basket is left unceremoniously on a nearby table as the other woman turns around, rubbing the spot on her head that had made contact with the lid of the machine. she didn’t seem too put out by it, calming the initial rush of worry that had coursed through juri, but it never hurt to ask if she was alright. “mhm, that’s me.” she nodded before gesturing vaguely to her own head. “you okay though? no dizziness or anything? i swear these machines are out for blood.”
there was no doubt juri had seen everything. to junhwi, it is (irrationally) embarrassing to have someone thinking something hurt more than it did, like when she slips and falls and she has to swear everything's peachy. so she quickly tries to prove she's fine, nodding her head eagerly and doing a little twirl. "no dizziness! it was just a little bump, i barely felt it." she assured with a nervous chuckle. it's half a lie, because she does feel a a light sting in the area, but the pain was in her scalp, not her head. "i should have been more careful, you know when you can feel things might go wrong and then they do?" junhwi sighed softly, "i'm junhwi, by the way!" she offers, before turning around to start the machine before she ends up forgetting, "honestly... laundry day just sucks."
𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅, all this—this whole thing, was just from the one glass. What a shame, a weakling! Her giggly company must've thought Yinhae never had a drink in her entire life. "This is just the one, yeah." Yinhae echoed the observation with a small chuckle and a shake of a head. "It won't stay just the one, though. I'll get another. How 'bout I get'ya another drink, ye cowboy, ye?" Yinhae jut her hips towards the side to mimic a cowboy (again), her toes aimed outwards like the total cowboy indeed. "Now that I think about it, maybe we need water." Yinhae brought her glass up for a bottoms up, hoping at least a drop would graze along her tongue, but there was nothing. "If I drink some more, I might end up being a spaceman. I'll end up with an intergalactic weapon that will eradicate—" Yinhae stopped midway as her fingers combed through her scalp. "Let me get you something, miss..." Yinhae extended her free hand as if readying for a handshake, but her eyebrows raise in a friendly curiosity.
maybe, definitely, junhwi can be a little judgy, but never when it comes to someone's alcohol tolerance! she stares at her with an amused smile, "water– you're right, maybe we do." she nodded her head despite the playful uncertainty in her words. her eyebrows furrow and it takes her a moment to realize she was being asked a question. "junhwi," reaching for her hand, she gives it a playful squeeze. "i'm hurt, you don't remember my name..." she pouts, staring at her with a serious expression for a good five seconds before she breaks into a smile, "i'm just kidding. we never met." not formally, at least, but she's seen her castmates around and heard their names in passing. remembering names and faces is a constant in her day to day, so through these few days, she had picked up a few of the names of the other constants. some are easier to remember than others, but she's actively making an effort to try and memorize them all soon. she purses her lips thoughtfully, as if sorting the information in her brain before the names rolls of her tongue, "yinhae. i'm right, right?" she lifts her eyebrows, hoping her good memory was impressive rather than scary. "and i'll have some water too, if that's what you're getting... unless you do want to be a spaceman."
"honey! good morning. you... you can have diary, right?" elkie called for her, tilting her head thoughtfully. she was done making pancakes after waking up a little too early, but she ended up making far too many. she planned on leaving them out, knowing they'd be gone quick enough, but now that the younger girl was here... she remembered hearing something about her dietary restrictions, but can't remember the details. "i made too many, so if you want some... if not, i also cut up too many strawberries, so there's that." she offered with a bright smile, grabbing a plate as she stares at honey. she's in a good mood– lately, she seems to be feeling great. maybe that's why she accidentally made too many pancakes... because that made sense in her head, somehow.

"hm, love?" elkie called softly, looking up from her laptop where she had been trying her best to read a recent study, which was entirely in korean. she managed just fine, but she's much slower and there's many words she has to look up. she needed a break– especially with the heavy topic of the study. curiosity had gotten the best of her, shifting her attention to the other woman in the space. elkie had been too entranced before to say much more, so it had been nothing but pleasantries so far. it was a comfortable silence, each of them focused on their own thing... until now. "what are you reading?" she asks even if the cover gives her a good idea about the contents. if love doesn't want to talk –which would be understandable– she'll stop bothering her, but they all were here to get to know each other better, right? elkie tells herself that, hoping she wasn't inconveniencing her too much.
it's a quiet afternoon and at this time of the year, it gets pretty cold in seoul as soon as the sun is gone. but elkie wanted some fresh air and there should be at least another hour or two of sunlight, so she bundled up and decided to go to the rooftop. as she walked, looking around the garden, she spots someone sitting on one of the benches. elkie had a brief conversation with her before, so she knew she was almost her same age and that her name was madee. she also remembered she's an artist but she couldn't remember the details. as her steps take her closer to where she was, she stopped in front of her, "madee, hey." she greets, smiling politely, "what are you up to? looking for inspiration?" elkie says in thai, since there's no one else around anyway.
laundry day is always a nightmare. junhwi is unsure of why she hates it so much, especially having machines that do everything for her. it's a valid complaint, though, who likes folding clothes?! she finished moving her only load from the washing machine to the drier, leaving the lid open so she can turn around and make sure she wasn't forgetting anything. as she's about to turn around again to close it, she miscalculated where the lid was and bumped her head lightly against it. "ouchie–" she pouts, it didn't hurt that much but she still felt it. "there goes another brain cell..." junhwi mumbles to herself before she turns the machine on and turns around, realizing there was someone else in the room, wondering if she saw what just happened. but even if she didn't see, she probably heard. plus, junhwi was still rubbing her head, "didn't see you there! juri, right?"

a wasted youth, reborn. "it's never too late" has become a mantra. a truth that she worked so hard to believe. divorced and away from home, elkie just wants to live the crazy romances she's missed.
cw: comphet, homophobia, depression.
birthday: february 12th, 1994.
age: 30.
orientation: homosexual.
zodiac: aquarius. dog.
mbti: entp.
hometown: aberdeen, hong kong.
languages: cantonese (native), thai (native), english (advance), mandarin (advanced) korean (conversational)
born an only child in hong kong like her father and with a thai mother, elkie grew up speaking cantonese and thai. while as a child she always complained about how useless thai was if they lived in hong kong, oh, she's so glad she did, as it ended up being her easy way out...
like lots of well-off asian families, a lot of decisions were made on her behalf by her parents. from the moment they knew they wouldn't have another child, expectations and demands increased tenfold. to disappoint her parents was her greatest fear, so, contrasting enough to who she is now, she was a quiet child, one that felt like the responsibility of her parent's happiness hung entirely from her shoulders.
resentment grew deeper but elkie couldn't stop it. she was to marry the son from an equally prestigious family. as soon as she finished medical school, the wedding happened, when she was 24. too busy to live her life the way she wanted to, elkie focused in finishing her residency so she could get board certified. by 29, finally, it was all over. a wasted youth, reborn. "it's never too late" has become a mantra. a truth that she worked so hard to believe. divorced and away from home, elkie just wants to live the crazy romances she's missed.
naturally, her first choice was thailand. she already spoke the language and had been there several times to visit family and in long vacations. plus, it was a lot more progressive regarding same sex relationships and that was something she needed desperately: to finally live her life, to meet girls, to fall in love.
ultimately, hearing about this opportunity to surround herself with other sapphic individuals was hard to resist. the perfect chance to get to know herself better– she thinks she can handle the cameras. they won't scold her or tell her that's the wrong way to do things. nothing a stranger on the internet writes could ever get to her the way her father's words did when she announced she was getting a divorce.
yeah... elkie was excited.
𝜗𝜚 wanted connection/plots (will expand more later on)
unless otherwise specified, all connections could flourish into anything, or nothing at all.
─ sunshine. someone that contrasts elkie's calmer, grounded personality. as much as she is trying on her own, she still struggles to let go. it doesn't help that she's ashamed of her past life, despite not being one she chose. she's also embarrassed about her lack of experience with women– while she has kissed a few by now, she's never had a serious relationship. her sunshine can make her forget all about that: catch up on the lost time. (romantic)
─ confidant. someone, preferably around her age or close, who elkie can talk with freely about her life. since it's hard for her to rely in others, she needs someone firm that can snap her out of her denial and endless "i'm good, really!"
ooc: always open to plot and brainstorm for any other sort of connections/plots. nsfw plot friendly but everything with proper discussion. ic drama is okay within reason, if i feel it’s getting out of control i will reach out ooc to check how to proceed.
