Introductions, inspirations, and goals

Hello y’all,

Currently I’ve been on tumblr for more than a decade, and on the internet for longer. Now, I’ve truly only been an active participant within my local community’s social media, never really branching out with strangers until fairly recently, within the past five years. And only truly once with Tumblr, most of my interactions have been on PlayStation, I’ve seen some shit and have also acted poorly as well, that’s life for ya.

My name is Pun, nickname not my government name. I am in my late 20’s, living in California. I love to play video games, make artsy things, and find new adventures. I play mainly Destiny and Pokémon, with the occasional Fortnite or open world game (my library is limited tho lol.). I am a huge sucker for Animation, comics, painting, and plushie making. I will be documenting my process here btw. And with my stable income combined with my inability to save my money, I’m traveling more! I’m making it my goal to get out more often, even if it is by myself.

More recently I’ve been surrounded by vloggers, such as absolblogspokemon, gold Shaw farm, and various others especially my dad. He’s gone completely obsessed with running his vlog projects. Numbers, algorithms, and monetizations frequent his vernacular as of recent. At least he’s not becoming a conspiracy loon.

And well, I’ve been reflecting a whole lot more and wanting to share the cool things that I do and see, not necessarily to brag, but to help with myself to reflect and remember. I really like absol’s method of documenting his experiences as he shiny hunts Pokémon or completes challenges.

And while I dabble in shiny hunting, I truly don’t have the patience to do one singular task for long. And I’m leaning into it. I’ve struggled to get up do things, staying stagnated in my woes about how I don’t do much anymore, and I’M TIRED OF THIS. So if I jump from one thing to the next so be it.

It’s helped me make and do way moreee, more so if I were to try to muster up the focus to do one big task. If I want to run a blog then disappear for months on end, hell yeah. Jump between comic making to full blown writing, or sewing until my fingers hurt. The shame of not committing is no longer holding me hostage. Master of one vs master of all or half assing is better than no assing, you know?

So if you’ve read this far, great! If you want a TL;DR here.

My goal is to document the activities, the art, and the happenings of my life. I might get a little personal, or be vague. But these are my thoughts and this is where they’ll go. I was inspired by others to do this and I hope that you will enjoy.

Funny enough I used to really hate ceramics. Still do kind of but I can at the least have a respect for the craft and I think I’m getting the hang of it.

I’m a teacher and I get to make projects as demos for my students and I just so happen to make stuff that I want to make cause it’s fun as the demos (yes I’m still working with the students but I don’t want to be too nosy with them)

There was some tragedies with the first one but I’m just going to try to glaze the swirly back on there and see what happens.

You know I need to make more dragon ball things. I really got into dragon ball and I need to express that interest to an 11 Ngl

Good morning,

This morning has been a wild one.

Context, I’m visiting my friends in Boston as like a birthday treat for myself, and I have a great time doing this.

But today disaster struck, my wallet fell out of my pocket at a truck stop, and when we found out it was a 40 min drive there and back to the truck stop.

We go back, my wallet is there, but by the time I get through tsa. My flight is gone.

Luckily, I am surrounded by luck. Because of my efforts and my friends efforts, I was able to get a flight for free. And it’s a little later so I can get some sleep.

I am immensely grateful for the happenings

Yes my flight is delayed, yes my favorite wallet got its zipper thrashed, yes I am tired as fuck.

But my friends are there for me. Doing everything they can to help me, even when I just met one of them.

I am so grateful and happy. Even when I’ve been dealt a shitty hand. Being kind, empathetic, and funny will get you places.

Get that well earned rest, make a new friend, and don’t trust pajama pockets.

You're just a mammal. Let yourself act like it. Your brain needs enrichment. Your body needs rest. You feel hunger and grow hair. You need to pack bond with other sentient things so you don't become unsocialized and neurotic. You are biologically inclined to seek dopamine and become sick when chronically stressed. "Hedonism" is made up to place moral value on taking pleasure in sensory experiences. I am telling you that if you don't let yourself be a fucking mammal, as you were made, you will suffer and go insane. No grindset no diets no trying to be above your drive for connection. Pursue what makes you feel good and practice radial rejection of the constructs meant to turn you into a machine. You're a mammal.

I am so serious about the way people are taught to view themselves as separate from and above any other animal being the root cause of a lot of problems. You're not better than a beast.

This post has really made the rounds so I have to say - this mentality changed me overnight. I had this realization that all of the fumbling over self love I did for years just needed... this. Once I internalized that I'm just a creature, it got so much easier to take care of myself.

I've started treating myself like I would a dog that's going to chew through the house when it's bored. I walk myself. I seek activities that make my brain feel less like depressed sludge. I ask my body what it needs; I rest, I enjoy rest. I don't see it as a waste or unproductive. I see it as allowing my body to do its job of working better. I lean into appreciating my natural features. I'm a hunk of flesh. I can be ugly. I can decide that ugly is appealing. I can not care. Whatever. I started emphasizing little things that nourish my relationship(s), shelving distractions more, so I can relish the time I have with loved ones. I specifically pursue pleasure--dopamine--not just quick hits from scrolling social media but getting off my ass. Engaging. Cooking myself nice meals and making fucking art, man. Things that make my spirit feel more alive than I have for years. I ask myself what it is I want rather than only doing what I'm supposed to be doing. And it doesn't mean shirk every responsibility, it means recognizing you're one of your fucking responsibilities. It's reordering. I realized I'm going to die happy or unhappy and either way I'm just as dead in a given amount of years, and I choose to die happy and fulfilled.

Everything else can get fucked ad infinitum.

Call me a hedonist, I'm saving my own life.

Today I went for a walk.

I mean I’ve been doing that for like a month now? I usually call a friend or listen to music but this time I just embraced the distant noises of the evening.

It had the same feeling for my brain alike to taking a big chomp of a burger. It really fed my brain with a deep satisfaction.

I know when I go out and take a seat on a stump on a hill I look goofy but at least I’m happy.

And when the high kicks in. Its euphoric. I then can understand the appeal of going for a walk, especially when it’s cold. I love all the feelings surrounding cold night air. Cold noses, thick jackets, the smells of people’s evening, the polite hellos, and curious dogs with their tails wagging.

It’s relaxing to have that sensory stimulation that creates a relaxing evening.

I want a dog. I would vibe with a borzoi so hard.

Anyways, have a good one, eat some good soup and may you get cozy.

Sometimes the only excitement I get in a day is when I wake up and then delete all my emails.

Just a quick thought, but I find it extremely heart warming/charming/synonym that students wear clothing that is obviously their parents hand me down.

Like this student is wearing a very old but well taken care of hoodie of a concert that they were not alive for. It’s something that I used to do with my mom and I find it sweet.

Good morning reader!

Well things have certainly changed around here.

First off this night gremlin woke up at 6:36 am on a Saturday morning instead of sleeping in as per usual. Then was pleasantly surprised that my Scrabby plushie is getting numbers (lol). Took a quick stroll and had my favorite morning drink, homemade latte with rose syrup. If you have the ability to have a rose flavored latte, try it!!!

So for your info, I am an art teacher. Fully certified and everything, and I am going into my third year. I have the privilege to be working in a place where I live in my dream town and learn to be my truest self.

Met some incredible students and people. (And the horrors) Started a club where I could give students a place to be as weird as they want to be. Somewhere kind like where I wanted to be when I was their age. Created curriculum that oriented around self expression and professional skills in art careers. Something that I wished when I was them.

Yesterday I was pink slipped.

I’m not surprised that this would happen. With the rising costs and shrinking population in rural areas of California. It certainly was a possibility, but I took a chance and tried my best. And trust me I am heart broken, devastated really.

I will miss the temperate climate, with its easy summers and misty winter mornings. How the ocean is apart of my background everyday. Pine and eucalyptus dancing with the saltiness of the sea in the air.

But I will be ok.

Whatever adventures come next I will embrace them as I have with this adventure.

I’m going to go digitize that pattern so I can send it off to starry mango for them.

Note to self SEND THAT CHRISTMAS GIFT ALREADY

Ok now that’s out of the way, ok so I’m just gonna address to those as reading as reader, ofc.

So, reader how you doin. Good? Well I’ve been good, I’m currently sitting in my parents kitchen writing this entry. Which has been a great visit, massive improvement compared from when I moved out about a couple years ago. Lots of great food and LAUNDRY. I am so ready for my bed, clean sheets and the whole nine yards. (My back only allows for me to sleep on the couch at my parents place…) And, I’ve had some BOMB Chinese food this weekend, like really really good. fantastic dumplings, salt and pepper wings to die for, and beef chow fun that I’m still dreaming about.

So for some reason, I seem to annoy my parents with my plush making.

Ok so YES, I made beetle Scarab again, but I looked back at my previous attempt and thought, “you know what, I think I can do better”

its head is actually the same one from the first edition. Just popped the head off and attached it to this one.

And I’m so glad I did, this variation is sooo cute. Better proportions and weight, I loaded this little dude with more poly beads this time.

Made the body using less parts and made it more proportional to the head. And made the feet pattern so they don’t kill my fingers and sanity.

I’m still missing some last details but they’re easy additions. I think that I’ll offer this pattern for like a couple bucks reader if you’re interested.

I made this pattern while I was racing against the clock as my sleeping edible kicked in. Drafted the pattern first, then cut out the pieces, shoved them in a bag, and packed it away to do at my parents place.

Pattern worked great! I am very pleased with how the buggy came out. Probably gonna make like 3 more, but I don’t want to burn myself out and focus on getting the pattern digitized. Then MAYBE I’ll make some to sell, but priorities. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

I’ll make some on my flight over to France this summer! I’ll make more then!

So far I’ve got Cake the cat, Jake the dog, and now Scrabby! I think I’ll make a prismo cube next too, lol.

I’m gonna add those details and then take better photos of Scrabby within this week.

Jake and Cake!

Thoughts and process under read more

Ok so like the plushie itself is fairly easy to make but to make the pattern the way it is was a JOURNEY.

First, Jake and cake are not pillow shaped all the time, most times they are bean shaped. And I really wanted to find or create a pattern that uses that bean shape but found nothing scrolling through the internet.

So I just whipped together a pattern using blender and that plushify website to help with the seams. And voila! Pattern created!

Both are hand stitched using minky and seal plush fabrics.

I am planning to sell the pattern for like a couple bucks so stay tuned!
