"I'll admit it's... Colder here actually than what I expected. Not exactly something I'll complain about but i do wish it was slightly warmer on my end."
"We're also currently more up north than before, either way for me it's better than it being warm as hell."
"Yeah fair, good point"
"Eh, could be better could be worse for me. Like Atlas, it's also colder than I expected here on my end."
I'm watching some like analog horror stuff over here because I'm bored and have nothing else to do rn, and i just thought of this and wanted to share.
Ok so it's obvious that Sterling loves horror stuff, especially analog horror stuff, i don't hide that fact about them.
But, despite Ster regularly talking both of them into watching it with them, Atlas and Finn... do not.
Atlas is... Very jumpy, will scream or yelp if he's scared, all of that. He actually hates it
Finn on the other hand, is dead silent out of fear, she refuses to show it but she's scared. She'll flinch at jumpscares but that's it.
Don't get me wrong Ster will also jump/flinch and yelp slightly at being scared but unlike the other two they like it. Also they gained a habit of just straight up flipping off whatever scared them so it makes Atlas and Finn laughing.
Usually Ster and Atlas talk and make jokes, occasionally Finn joining in.
Atlas is clearly scared and hugging a pillow or a stuffed animal the whole time, will hide under a blanket if too scared.
Finn is silently death gripping a pillow she's next to or a blanket she has on. Abnormally silent from fear but won't admit it (Atlas and Ster both know) and will poke fun at Atlas or Ster if they're scared
Ster is holding a stuffed animal and has a blanket but is... Calm actually, casual as hell and will make jokes watching which eases some tension (Finn won't admit it, but she's silently thankful for that), the only one that'll admit something scared them then laugh it off like nothing. Of the trio the least likely to be actually scared, more like startled if anything.
Ah hey look! It’s the Bruiser brothers themselves, Rick and Nick!
And, we just so happen to have an origin story for them! Just what are these two hiding from us anyway?
Read below to find out!
((Keep in mind that this is sort of a weird one, but hopefully you’ll get used to it 😭. Also CW for body horror imagery)) -Dex
Ok so, you know that we basically don’t know how old nor where the Bruiser brothers are from right? Why is this such a mystery? It’s been bothering me for years now...
Well I have a proposition... now here me out.... they were created in a lab.
So there were these group of scientist that decided to come together to create the perfect fighter. Through some agreements, they collected DNA samples from all kinds of boxers that were considered the best of the best: the most lean, tall, strong etc.
It took some years to figure out, but they managed to make their first prototype: Rick Bruiser.
The scientist first helped out Rick by teaching him with basic life skills (you know, like talking, eating etc). When he mastered them, they immediately put the gloves on him to start training. The results and analytics were showing up with “alright” scores, but not what the group was looking for. Also not to mention, Rick started to develop his own charming personality, which the scientist were pleased and quite proud of as it makes him more human like, but they also thought that this was hindering his fighting style (for some reason).
So by taking Rick’s DNA and changing up some formations, they made a second version of Rick, and by technicality his brother, Rick Brusier.
Nick was more emotionally detached than Rick, which was done on purpose. As they went through the same learning process with Nick, they tested out his fighting expertise. The testers were much more pleased with Nick’s outcome and decided to focus their testing and work on him, leaving Rick in the dust almost. He sort of grew jealous due to this, but still wanted to at least work out a brotherly bond with his new kin.
As time passed, they applied Nick to all kinds of boxing matches. From left to right, he about won just about every match he was in. It was almost non-stop fighting and match-ups. Due to this however, Nick started to feel a bit... off. But he never reported it nor brought it up because he really didn’t want to mess up his streak.
Then the time came for Nick to work his way up in the W.V.B.A. to get that champion belt. Nick’s first opponent was obviously the glass jaw himself: Glass Joe.
The poor Frenchman thought that this was just another match where he gets horribly beat up by yet another big and burly boxer. So the match starts with a ding, and goes off smoothly at first. Nick is quite the excellent fighter and Joe knows this. But something was about to happen that would shock everyone and the world of boxing in general.
Lots of dodging and punching, the first being done by Nick and Joe unfortunately getting the latter. “Whatever.” He thought to himself. “Let’s get this over with.”.
Keep in mind that this is around the time when Joe was starting to get one of the worse records in W.V.B.A history, so he was a laughing stock to the crowd. And to be honest, most people buy tickets to Glass Joe’s fights now just to see his face get beat in. It’s basically like a sick comedy to them.
But with this in mind, Maybe he can perhaps get at least one punch in? This could not only catch the audience off guard, but also he can at least get some kind of good press for this effort. It’ll at least be a good coffee read in the morning, so why not?
So with a lot of focus and managing to get a split second opening, Joe did the best punch he could.
A big old “POW” if you will.
This catches Nick off guard as well as the crowd. After a few moments of silent the crowd starts to cheer. Joe starts to feel a kick of euphoria in his body after what just happened. He felt like could do it again!
Nick however, after the punch, starts to get that same off feeling from before, but it was more noticeable. His arm... also felt weird. But he brushed it off and continues to fight.
More back and forth arm swinging happens and Joe gets yet another punch in as Nick blocks it. Yet another “POW” could be heard from the impact. The crowd starts to get louder with cheers and jeers going everywhere. But after a few seconds, something oh so horrible happens that will stay in the minds of whoever was attending that faithful night.
Nick’s arm starts to fall apart.
Gasps and screams started to erupt from the stadium. Joe quickly back off after realizing what in the world was happening. He couldn’t believe what was happening in front of him. All he could do his cover his mouth and stare in shock at the absolute horror show he was witnessing.
Nick didn’t even know what to do. What the hell was happening to him? Why didn’t those damn blockheads tell him about this?
The rotting started to get worse as his whole arm was basically gone. It started to now slowly go up his neck and that’s when Nick basically “passed” out. The doctors and ref started rush over Nick Bruiser to try and get him to a hospital. The crowd was trying to get up close to the ring to see the freak accident they just witnessed.
But by default, Joe won the match. His first win. This should be an exciting moment for him, but he’s too distracted and also felt such a painful guilt in his stomach. He probably thought he killed the man. Nobody would survive such a horrible incident like that! He felt like he was about to puke...
This was a dark chapter in the W.V.B.A history books.
This incident was in the year 1985
Weeks have passed since the incident, and Nick wakes up in a bed with a brand new arm attached to his arm. Stitched up of course. Unfortunately, this meant that he also remembered what happened to him that night. Nick didn’t know if he should be grateful that he’s still here, or if he should be mad now that his perfect record is down the drain. “What an embarrassing way to go out” he said in his head. This is what he’s going to be remembered by. The one guy that had his damn arm fall apart.
Great.
However, Rick was so happy that his brother was alive! He watched the match from the tv back in the lab, and was absolutely terrified with what happened. Poor Rick really thought Nick was dead, but who could blame him? He waited oh so patiently for the progress on Nick’s rebuilding.
Nick couldn’t help but feel a bit touched by this. He never felt this way before.
One of the scientist then explained to the still confused Nick that apparently his body was starting to weaken with all the excessive fighting they put him through and that it went completely off their radar. So during the last fight with Glass Joe, his body completely gave up on him. Literally. But after a few alterations to his body along side stitching up his new arm, something like this should never happen again. Hopefully.
Well that explains a lot.
They all decided that they should stay off of boxing for awhile just in case something like this ever happens again. So both Rick and Nick just simply hung around the lab for awhile and used the opportunity to do some catching up.
During this they mainly were assistants for the workers in the lab and did various activities as well.
Time passes by and by unanimous decision, the lab decides to let Rick and Nick Bruiser go to the outside world for themselves. With all the knowledge they learned, they thought that they’re perfectly ready to have their own social lives.
The lab provided them with everything they need. Fake birth certificates, new IDs, social security, lots of money, clothes, and a little apartment they can start off with. The lab will of course will keep them in close contact just in case something haywire happens.
Finally, the brothers can be a part of society.
They started to get use to the average living life. They lived together in the apartment that they were provided with and made do with it. Rick wanted to do more stuff unlike Nick, who was more introverted. But hey siblings will be siblings am I right? Nick was still self conscious about going out because someone might recognize him as that one boxer that... yeah... so even when he does go out, he’s covering his face up with a hoodie.
The year is 1990 and the W.V.B.A. is taking in new and fresh boxers for their second branch that they just established.
Rick saw an advertisement for this and jumped at the opportunity to join. For all of his (short) life, Rick wanted to fight in the ring. But because he was seen as a simple prototype and how Nick got WAY more of the attention, he felt ignored. So this was finally the opportunity for him to possibly join the association. Rick doesn’t care if he doesn’t end up being that great, he just wants to fight his heart out.
Nick took notice of this. At first he thought “Yeah, right. Like I’m going back there.”. But when he really started to contemplate, this could be possible redemption. No longer does he have to hide in the shadows of his past, he can show the country— no, the world that he’s not the same anymore.
That was the old Nick. He’s the new Nick now.
When he told his brother that he’ll join and possibly even try for the belt, pure ecstasy bursted out of Rick. Finally, he and his brother can take on the world and have it in their hands together.
I'll admit... I'm not the smartest person in the world, and it SHOWS after i have a very realistic dream
Ok so this happened... Idk, like a month or two ago, so the dream itself is very hazy on my end.
But y'know in like GameStop there's like a side of like a stand where there's those character pins of like anime or games? The FigPins (yes i looked up the company of the pins i mean)
Well from that dream all i can remember that i was in some older video game store, that sold like PS3 games or like XBox 360 games kinda deal y'know? There was a small pin section (that looked very alike to FigPins with the background thing and in a plastic box) that had some Super Punch Out pins (the background of the pins were the boxing ring, and they all just looked like their actual sprites in game... But shinier because it's a pin), i apparently ended up buying a Dragon Chan one (tbh would've gotten more, because there was more characters than just Dragon wasn't many but still but they... Honestly and shockingly weren't as high quality as that pin for some reason like I'm talking i could see scratches on the pins itself level, plus they were expensive anyways) and left that store.
Now from that alone you're probably confused why I say I'm not the smartest being out there... Well here's the part that i said that to
When i woke up after that dream i was genuinely confused where tf this pin was and was actually looking around for it in confusion... It took me five minutes of looking for this nonexistent pin that was still in it's box to realize "oh wait that was just a dream-"
Tbh never been more glad that i was home alone (beyond the cats, they just don't care and are used to this) than that day because my family would've thought I was crazy.... Well more than they already know I am.
Ok context before i start because for sone reason the "plot" on these ones changed from the one before and it, quite litterally needs context:
Ok, for some reason i DON'T work for the WVBA like before, no work wise association with them.
But, it does deal with one of my jobs. Ok so i work for the #1 haunted house in my state, but the owners of this haunt runs another haunted house in a different state where we usually run special events since it's an indoor haunt and has heating and all of that.
Apparently there was a private event going on and my managers wanted me and my mom, and sone of my haunt friends, to come, gave us no context what was going on but we went anyways because we were free and got curious what was going on.
Found out later that, apparently, my managers offered the WVBA to let the boxers (and i mean ALL of them... Except OCS for some reason which is... Odd actually but oh well) come over and meet some actors without haunt makeup and costume/explore the haunt before hours (why exactly i have no idea, nor is it my business tbh)... And they accepted. My managers wanted me there because, without makeup/not acting I'm... Not menacing or scary, at all, plus I'm considered the main "banshee" of one of the haunts so they thought it'd be fun to have me around just doing whatever and possibly scream occasionally if i had enough voice for it (... I did because it was a dream, but you get the point)
Anyways, onto the dream moment thingies!
Ok so... For context, all of the boxers were wearing casual clothing. Just whatever they wanted to wear they could, there was no kinda dress code or anything.
^ This part does play in. Because Narcis was there and wearing more "casual" (unnecessarily fancy compared to everyone else but still) clothing, but for some reason it was still in the same colors as his boxing outfit... That green does not go well with the red/yellow/purple colors he has going on btw.
^ yeah i visibly cringed seeing the sudden green in the color combo and my friend noticed and laughed at my reaction
Accidentally scaring the absolute fuck outta Mr. Sandman... Who at the same time scared the fuck outta me.
^ in other words we accidentally scared the fuck outta each other by me quickly turning around a corner and not hearing him there beforehand
^^ both of us ended up apologizing to each other (despite it being my fault and completely taking the blame either way) and chit chatted a lil bit before going our separate ways in the haunt
Apparently in this dream I've actually met/befriended Heike (how exactly I'm trying to figure out) and eventually lost contact, years before they were a boxer.
^ Heike still remembered me which... Genuinely shocked me hearing someone's voice i don't recognize yell my birth name and get tackled hugged-
Ngl i was around Heike, Birdie, and Mac (not purposely, but all three are around my age over here... At least headcanon wise for Birdie) most of the time if i was around people at all and not helping out/wandering around the haunt myself since I'm rarely at that haunt myself
^ met both Birdie and Mac via Heike and got along with both of them
Apparently I met Aran as well pre-event. How exactly was... Even more vague then how i met Heike actually. He mentioned something about a concert but that's still vague because of my heavily mixed music taste.
^ yes, he's hella chaotic, and the only one of the boxers purely referring to me as "Banshee"
The whole "something is rattling in Hoy's staff" thing came back. This time was confusing me because i didn't know where it was coming from and slowly driving me crazy.
^ I was with the mini group i mentioned before, asked what it was and they all looked at me like i was crazy (... And fair enough)
^^ turns out pretty much all of the boxers kinda tune the rattling out subconsciously, so i wasn't going crazy they just were tuning it out
Apparently i wasn't aware that Great Tiger can ACTUALLY float so i was just looking at the ground he was floating over and slyly trying to see how he was doing that (obviously actual magic but apparently dream me didn't know that)
^ apparently i said, and i quote (to my manager who was leading me somewhere to help out with something i forgot what exactly), "Are we NOT gonna talk about the guy floating over there?!"
^^ apparently (learned this info from Birdie and Mac because he recognized my voice) Tiger and a few others heard me and started laughing because of how sudden it was and the fact my voice was becoming farther away mid sentence (i was running after my manager)
Super Macho Man did accidentally blind me with his necklace(s, he was wearing multiple... I'm guessing that all of them were made of real gold)-
^ No clue if he realized if he did or not, but i said a "What da fuck" in the most gremlin like voice before stepping back and tripping over a loose wood board and falling (i was fine beyond a good sized bruise on my forearm... And temporary blindness)
^^ Apparently Nick & Rick heard me and started quietly laughing... And I'm still not sure if i should be proud (because Nick is, according to Mac, very hard to make laugh) or embarrassed about that because how i managed that
Quick little question because I’m wondering, do you guys see Aran as the big or little brother to his sister? I personally see him as the big bro because I get that energy from him but I’m just genuinely curious cause I see a lot of different interpretations..,,
Updated the Pinned post a lil bit on this blog, it now just has links to the trio's references (for my and everyone else's who wants to see those for whatever reason easier access)
And just adjusted a few smaller details honestly, not a big change to it but still
So Glass Joe has 1 win, right? I believe, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here because i have seen mixed results of this info specifically, he won against Nick Bruiser. How the fuck did he win? When the hell did he win?
Double question since this boxer has the same record and is the same kinda deal here. Who the fuck did Gabby Jay won against???
To answer your second question, the manual for Super Punch-Out!! says that Gabby Jay's one win was against Glass Joe who (supposedly) used to own a boxing school.
As for how Glass Joe beat Nick Bruiser, it was stated in an issue of Nintendo Power that it was because of a freak accident. Though they don't go into much detail as to what happened so we can assume it was really bad.
But it's best to take these with a grain of salt, since I can't really prove the validity of an outdated gaming magazine and a game manual that contradicts some of the things said in game.
Tbh now I'm confused when Joe had his own boxing school but even i can't find any answers to that.
Yeah with his win against Nick I'd assume something happened.... Though I'll be honest i didn't know it was classified as a freak accident until now.
Yeah i was going to assume these were not completely correct or at least contradicts in game so who knows. But, let's be real, it's the only things we have at the moment since Nintendo hasn't made another game in over a decade.
