Nonbinary people do not have to:
• have short hair • use they pronouns or neopronouns • wear gender-neutral clothing • be thin • choose a gender-neutral name • change their name at all • come out, to anyone, ever, if they don’t want to • explain their gender experience if they don’t want to • stick to more “general”, “easily remembered” labels if they don’t suit them (yes, you can make up your own; your comfort matters most & ur not hurting the community) • be positive of their gender label, when they first claim a nb identity or any other time at all • use the label “nonbinary” if they’re a part of a non-western culture • be pale or lightskinned • meet anyone’s “nonbinary enough” standards • know that i love them but it would be nice if they did
