talesofnovembria:
It brought her comfort to hear his voice returning to some sense of normality. It pained her in a way to hear his voice so broken. It had not been the first time, but even before it had never been like this before. A small smile crossed over her muzzle, “I missed you too, Arthur.”
Her hands moved up to his shoulders, giving a small push back so that the two of them could look at one another. Her ears fell again, uttering a sigh, “My situation was a little different. I didn’t have much of a choice but to move on in that moment. A master is not going to tolerate their underlings’ crisis, certainly not a demon.”
Her gaze softened as her one hand trailed to under his chin, “But don’t ever give up. No matter how hard it seems, or how painful it is, endure it. Everything will work out, in one way or another. And you’ll have me to help you if you need it. You won’t have to face it alone.”
Salena pushed herself up from her knelt position, offering a hand out to the blond, “Come on, I’ll take you to one of the living room areas. We can relax for a moment.” She took a brief moment, glancing over to the side, “You’re welcome to use any of my notes, as I have no use for them now. If any of them can help with the others, then better you have them than myself.”
He was still feeling numb at the fingers, and twitches of spiderwebs under his skin. But there was a sense of relief that overwhelmed and soothed any ache in his chest with warmth and-- family. It was enough for now. It was enough to have her back. To know he could do this, and do it again, one by one. He nodded slow, watching her as she spoke, until she nudged his head up with the crook over her index against his beard.
Don’t give up? Well. He always was stubborn. He could do that much. And if he had her on his side....he could do this. Or get through whatever heartbreak came next. It wouldn’t be easy, but it was something he could survive. It wasn’t like this would be the first time. But it’d be the first time there was someone there to help him through besides Lance. And that..... meant something.
He took her hand. “I....think I need it. Thank you, Sal.” They might help. And he could use a breather. He still felt on the verge of snapping in half. A moment’s respite would be a good rest before he figured out who was next.
After a moment to collect the pages with his prosthetic and tucking the sheaf against his chest, Arthur followed her out of the room.
monochrome-lewis:
“I do want to stay.” Chrome says simply, his mind beginning to calm and shoulders sinking as well. “I don’t want to leave you like this, you’re my friend, I care about you.”
His own hand twitches. Part of him telling him he should retreat and give arthur space… he doesn’t, he can’t. He’s open to comfort him and Chrome needed Arthur to know that.
His eye…. Since the possession….?
“Later, I’d like to ask more about that. Your eye, I mean. But for now, take a few deep breaths. Relax. I’m not going anywhere.”
Arthur nodded. He stayed curled up small, limbs locked together. His eyes stayed closed. His breath in was wet sounding from his nose, but the exhale was steady. He seemed to further melt into the couch cushion, like he was trying to vanish from sight, but he was still there, small and boneless and curled up on the cushion like a stressed cat in shrimp pose.
“Okay.....okay.... I’m alrigh’. You can ask whatever you want......” He mumbled it into the cushion, but still spoke at an audible volume over the quiet of the TV where a young boy and his grandparent were showcased.
monochrome-lewis:
Now, instead of Anger and the need to protect himself, Chrome was filled with embarrassment. Heating up his neck despite his attempts to not show it- by keeping his head low and teeth grit and eyes focused on the rocks beneath their feet.
The roomba trudges into his view, bumping into his foot and moaning loud. Shooting sprays of mud onto his foot.
Chrome actually does cover his face. Nudging it back toward the cave and getting a squealed plead in return. “It’s a curse. The gray Fae decided to give me a ‘gift.’” He felt like Mono was about to come back out, just out of sheer embarrassment and the need to drive Arthur away with apologies.
“Honestly, I would give anything to have it destroyed. Nothing I have done worked thus far.”
The expression he was sure he was making was indescribable, by the way it pulled at the muscles of his face. It tugged his mouth into a frown, but also up at the corners, and his nose flared slightly as his brows pinged between furrowed, and then one raised. He was silent a solid minute, watching the thing crawl around the floor, and feeling the radiating and rising sensation of doom and mortification that blended in the air into a perfect cocktail of misfortune for poor Chrome.
“......Lewis.” He mumbled after a minute. “....I could probably fix that, for you. If you were willing to take it to my apartment. I could--- maybe take a peek inside and at least make sure it stopped......making those noises. If you wanted.”
talesofnovembria:
There was another moment of stiffness when his head pressed into her shoulder, but not enough to keep the feeling lingering for too long. He needed this comfort, and he was causing no harm to her. She found her fingers moving almost naturally. It seemed to work with the Divine, then maybe it would work with Arthur as well.
“Shush Arthur… it’s not your fault. I’m sure none of us would fault you for being unable to make such a choice. I said so myself didn’t I? I was once put into that sort of position. How could anyone be expected to choose to harm someone they care so much about? Especially when only given the choice between those said people?”
Her voice is soft, but there’s a small hint of poison to her tone, “The fae… they’re sadistic little beings. They do things like this to you, and act as if they’ve done nothing wrong. It’s not your fault they find fun in doing these kinds of acts. Someone was going to get effected either way. What matters now is undoing what they have done. And you’ve already done that for me.”
She tightened her grip around him a small bit more, “So please, stop apologizing, stop blaming yourself. It’s fine now, and it will be fine. You won’t lose me. Not so easily.”
She tilted her head slightly, enough to brush her muzzle against the back of his neck and back. Everything was going to be alright, just as both of them were going to be alright.
The breaths he took were shuddering, but the minor comfort of her movements were more than enough. He could only nod, to everything she said. Sal was right. Sal was smart, and she was right about so much of it. The fae could be horrible, and someone was going to suffer. All he could do was fix it.
“Okay....o-okay.” His voice warbled, wet. But he found comfort in the repetitive brushing he gave the back of her head, through her hair. Her own ministrations helped, too. He didn’t feel--- good. But she was back. Sal was back. It would be okay. “I missed you. I did.”
He felt like a child, but he ignored the feeling, the thoughts worming around in his brain. “Wh..... what did you do? When you were--- in this position. Just keep--- keep pushing forward? How did--- how do you do it?”

Fuck this is so disgusting
This post is a fucking Pandora's box of awful
Oh my God. This gets worse every time I see it!
This is why I live alone. I don’t want to be remembered as a murderer, and I’d kill each and every one of these jerks.
It’s so interesting to see these men carefully plan and go out of their way to ruin something harmless and fun, like put real effort into it, and then go “it’s just [x]”
Like if it was JUST socks or an app or a blanket or some jars, why did it BOTHER you so much?
Because it was a symbol of your s/o not being entirely dependent on you, on getting happiness outside of you, of being their own human with their own feelings. And you KNOW that deep down, or else you wouldn’t have gone to such effort to sabotage it.
talesofnovembria:
It was important not to waste any opportunity presented to someone, especially when it involved something so… chaotic. The fae were unpredictable, and the more that could be learned about how their magic worked, would give her more options to try and find ways to block its effects. He seemed more interested in the matter as far as her mind was concerned, but this would also give her a means to prevent such things from happening to others, or alternatively, removing the magic on others.
That was for another time though. There was another, far more important, matter at hand.
As if the way he looked wasn’t enough to make her ears fall, the whimper that came out made it seem as if they could fall further. She could feel him in her arms, cracking until he couldn’t hold it any longer. Before long, his own arms were around her neck. She stilled for a moment, but relaxed once more at his voice. It sounded… broken in a way.
“Hush Arthur, you’ve nothing to be sorry for. It wasn’t your fault.” She’d loosen herself, though from the way he was clinging to her, perhaps it would be fine to allow him to do so. It seemed like he needed this. She moved a couple fingers through his hair, “It’s alright. Everything is fine now.”
“Please, stop saying you’re sorry. It’s not your fault. Though I could not feel it in the same manner you are now, I have missed you too. I don’t feel so empty anymore.” Her memories had returned, all of him. Good and bad, she’d never want to be rid of them again.
"It was---" Arthur protested, soft and straggling. "It was. It was-- I didn't--- I was supposed to choose and I couldn't--- I'm sorry. I'm so sorry--." His face buried into her shoulder now. "I couldn't protect anyone I couldn't even make a choice--- you didn't deserve this--- it's fine now but it wasn't and--- and I questioned everything and I'm just----"
The sorry clung to his lips, in his throat. But it was a pointless word when it didn't fix anything, when it wasn't worth it, and when she didn't want them to begin with. They were in his chest, ready to loose, but instead he ran his fingers through the fur along her neck where it wasn't beneath her collar. "I---I missed you too. I missed you. I was--- worried. That I'd lose you. I---I'm glad. I'm glad you're here. It's not fine but--- it's now and you're here and---and I'm glad." Nothing he said felt like it was important or made sense. He wished he'd stop talking. But he wanted her to know he missed her. He wanted her to know she mattered.
He wanted her to know she's his friend.

everything around him rang horribly , he could barely s e e and it was like tunnel vision – only seeing THARUR – and how terrified he looked how terrified he looked – the king couldn’t blink couldn’t b r e a t h e despite the fact that he didn’t have lungs in the first place , closing in , throat closing in , and the pain was only getting worse and worse until golden blood pooled around the ground below them , mixing in with the pitter-patter of rain outside , pouring h e a v y……anger continued to mix into the f e a r building up inside of him – staring this horrible stranger down – someone he didn’t even truly k n o w.

It was a hurricane.
That’s what it had to be. The king’s emotions howled and sheared him like the knife-points of ferocious winds. Fear burned him, and anger cut him open, leaving him to drown in the agony in frothy torrents. The heartbreak wrapped around his legs like tendrils to hold him under. He could feel the panic in his own chest, but it was a hollow echo to what he felt from—his friend’s own.
Gold streamed from the king like a fountain, coating his fabric, his hands, his face--- it was too much and Arthur’s head pounded and spun. Red pinprick eyes were fixated on him, locked on in way that made him almost laugh--- a laugh he didn’t want, a laugh because too much too many feeling overwhelmed gonna die might as well too much too much he’s numb he’s cold he’s burning he’s manic he’s all of it all at once there’s tears and a laugh but the laugh sounds like breaking glass--.
Gold blood ran down the king’s chin like a stream that wouldn’t end and it killed him, it killed him all over again to see it, to be the cause. Even the words the king said rang hollow and senseless in his ears, even as his voice raised to a cacophony that drowned out even the slaking sheets of rain. He could see the gold and it was all he could see and the water drenching his face wasn’t just from the sky, but no sound escaped him as he stared at the blood, tried to register what had been said beneath the thunder in his ears that matched the storm above like a heartbeat.
And then there was a word, a syllable, a gasp of a word.
The barest breath that felt to his core like his name snaps him back like a crack of thunder and a slap to the face. He’s here, he’s wet, he’s in the king’s hands—
And then he isn’t.
The Everything is back but he can take shallow breaths to fight back, even as his head pounds and he bleeds, blood all over his face why is it all over—wait that doesn’t matter right now focus on him on him he needs you stop!
The shove drops him on unready legs and he stumbles, before the next shove sends him sprawling to the flagstone. They’re both soaked and the lightning douses them in white light, before the thunder deafens the courtyard. He sits on his ass, almost unfeeling but also feeling too much to feel and numb numb n u m b, before the sword is leveled at his throat. He’s so painfully aware of the sound of the rain, of the rattle on stone, the patter on fabric, and the tink as it hits the King’s blade.
Another strike and their frozen in time, like a horrifying moment from one of his dreams, and he feels green fingers digging into his brain like worms and he’s fucking tired he’s so goddamn tired but he deserves this doesn’t he?
The words cling to him like a spider’s silk and his limbs can’t move, bound by their gossamer threads. He only stares up, up into red eyes.
He’s calm. Why’s he calm? Is this the part where he dies? He doesn’t want it. If it happened this way, the king might hate himself, might break. He doesn’t want that. He deserves better. He doesn’t deserve to blame himself. It was going to happen eventually. But it shouldn’t be his blade. Not his.
The calm still radiates like a sense of wrongness, like bathing in a pool you know isn’t meant for you. He sits there silent so long he isn’t sure he has the will to speak. But then his mouth opens, his voice croaks to life like the wires of an ancient piano.
"You—you have to answer this first-- Would you want to remember what you lost? Even if it wasn't worth it? Even if it all hurts to remember? even if your memories might hurt you again and again? Would you still want to?"
A choked sound. He doesn’t know what it is. Pain? It’s all too much. His body is shutting down. He keeps going. "You have to answer-- you have to. I have to know. would the suffering be worth it, to remember to you? Even if you remember hurting. Even if you remember the times you've been hurt. I-- I have to know. Because I could leave and you wouldn’t have to remember. I need to know what you want, my--…. " The words die in his throat. They might hurt him all the more. They stay there, locked.
monochrome-lewis:
“Okay….”
That makes sense, that sounds right. It’s a cheesy movie and it’s funny and he watched it a few times with his own group….
Chrome lets out a sigh, stands up, and he breaks the circle with his foot. Deliberately, so that way Arthur knew and saw it too. Chrome gingerly takes a seat, and he places his hand near Arthur so he can hold it if he wants to.
“Okay Arthur. I want to be honest with you.” Chrome starts, watching him from the corner of his eye, “I was really nervous you weren’t … you. Because I came in here and you were hurting yourself and your eye was… it was green and black, and it reminded me of some things.” He sinks into the couch a little more, “you don’t need to talk about it now. I trust you, but I just needed to be sure you were you first… I’m not going to leave you.”
The sound of something grainy scraping the floor makes one eye crack back open. Staring down with a bleary expression, he watched the salt be parted by a muck- slathered shoe. It left a tiny track, and he stared at it.
The couch dipped to let him know Mono had joined him, and he curled slightly further into the cushion he rested on. "Sorry....s'been like that. Since the possession. Turns green an' dark when I'm.... not feeling good."
His eyes close again. He hasn't moved to take Mono's hand, but his own twitched with the desire to hold on. "Sorry if... if I worried you. Reminded you." He makes a noise like a swallow. "You can stay. If you really want to."
monochrome-lewis:
The offer was so tempting and yet at the same time Chrome wanted to deny it like nothing else. After the emotional whiplash that was this entire day- the whole week!
He can’t…
Chrome crosses his arms, his stomach churning and face and hands clammy with sweat. “…Maybe. I’ll have to think about it, Arthur. I’m not… really sure right now.” He hates this. He hates this because his heart is hurting and torn and Arthur came back from the fucking dead. But also if he was close he would be able to make sure he didn’t do anything like that again. Ensure it. Grab the fae by their scrawny necks and break them-
Behind them, there was a horrid noise that bubbled and shrieked from the cave. Chrome’s face falls as he recognizes the source. He threw it in the water. He tried to drown it. WHY WAS IT STILL-
A pornstarish moan erupts from the cave as a roomba - A CURSED, EVIL ROOMBA THAT REFUSED TO DIE - came sputtering out. Spewing mud and making more atrocious noises to accompany it.
Chrome’s head drops with horror, mortified as the noises refused to stop.
“Um. Maybe you should go, Arthur. I don’t want to subject you to this horrible torment.”
The response is still cold, but cold in the was chrome could be, bubbling with an anger behind wall. e wanted to point out that he didn’t have to just as much as he wanted to insist he did. The two desires warred, and he bounced back and forth like the ball in a game of pong.
But then he heard......that.
Everything else fell to the wayside, to make room for the sheer volume of the ‘what‘ in is thoughts. He blinked several times, looking between the mortified agony on Chrome’s face, and the entrance of the cave, where the most--- horrifingly wrong kind of anime sound escaped. He watched a tiny roomba make it’s way out, saying something in Japanese he was probably happy not to know what meant.
All his other emotions were just gone now, as he looked between that, and Chrome, who looked ready to cover his face with his hands.
“Sorry. But what the actual fuck is that?”
s1lveredw1ngs:
Relief. This was such a sense of deep, solid, resonating relief at the sensation of soft, smooth lips against his own. Sparrow had his mind back, his memories of Arthur and everything that the blond meant to him. He gave another squeeze, holding tight before easing the pressure just enough as Arthur’s thin, delicate fingers threaded into his hair.
Sparrow was beginning to feel dizzy, his mind dancing with joy and heart locket thudding loudly as it pulsed, trapped between himself and Arthur. He could feel every tremor and thump of the blond’s living body in his arms and it sent his cup overflowing with…with…he had no idea what. But it was so good, so positive, so blessedly warm, Sparrow never wanted to surrender it.
He felt the soft roll of an inky black tear going down his cheek as Arthur finally parted for air and pressed his face into Sparrow’s chest. Despite fresh tears, the ghost smiled, his wings relaxing from making a protective dome to loosely enveloping Arthur in a feathery hug. He rubbed Arthur’s back and rested his chin in the mass of blond hair, softly shushing him.
“You have nothing to apologize for, Arthur. Thank you…thank you for unlocking my memories.” He bent to kiss the scalp, “I missed you so much, Arthur…”
He could feel the fast beat between him and Sparrow where he was buried in his chest. He sniffled, holding on to his suit jacket a little tighter, riding out such bright and affectionate feelings that he was left dizzy and elated and relieved all at once. He was filled with so much warmth it eased at the loss he’d been through the last few days, with every lapping wave, as it filled him up again, as it all sank in. Sparrow was back. He had him.
A hand came up blindly to wipe a Sparrow’s face, when he heard the sound of crying. Then both his arms moved to wrap around his neck. “Sparrow.....I missed you too. I missed you too. Thank you--- for---for wanting to remember and-- and coming to find me. I missed you. I.... thank you.” He didn’t have more to say, but a few more apologies Sparrow didn’t likely want. But his gratitude showed again, in taking Sparrow’s face, and pressing their foreheads together. His eyes closed, and he held on, a soft, tired smile on his face, something warm if tear-stained.
He really did have him back.
talesofnovembria:
There wasn’t much rhyme or reason to her ears falling at the sound of his sniffling. She couldn’t understand why it would cause such a reaction. Well… sadness in others could usually create the same response. Why then was this one so…. different?
There was that swallow again. She couldn’t understand why this was causing him to make this motion so much. Why was her remembering seeming to cause him so much discomfort when he wanted to be friends with her? It didn’t make sense.
Lips curled up into a snarl, her body turning away from him as to not spook him. She recalled the way he reacted when she first came up to him. Best not to force him into that sort of position again when these faes were involved. Of course they would be devious enough to do something like this to her. She’d never knelt to anyone aside from… him. And never after him. She didn’t serve anyone… didn’t belong to anyone.
Her head turned around, looking over at the blond in the chair. It was the only way…? It made her fur stand up. The upper part of her body leaned forward a small amount. What was more important? Her staying true to never bowing to another… or this man?
It made her defenses fall…
Salena turned on her feet, moving in front of him. She let her eyes fall on him for a long time, her ears falling, tail curling slightly between her legs. Her head bowed as she lowered herself down to the floor. She let one leg fall, the other staying up at an angle. One arm rested over her laid leg, the other hanging at her side. Her tail curls a little more as she waits.
—-
He had been sitting near the flickering doors since Arthur had shown up. Nothing had changed from the time they had begun speaking… but there was a break in their conversation. He couldn’t see what was going on unless he was physically present. All he could do was keep an eye on the effects within her mind. No changes yet…
Wait…
His head moves up, noticing something leaving the doors. There’s a gray stream of magic hovering in the hallway. The doors became solid once more, flinging open. His head soon snaps to the side, noticing Salena there at his side. She seems almost drawn to the open doors, everything flowing back into her. He’s much more interested in the magic’s doing. At the space between the doors, the magic begins to tear an opening into the wall of her mind. Some of the magic begins to seep into the crack, a gray sheen over the opening.
He notices the magic starting to head to the “ceiling”, a small growl escaping him. Flames danced on his fingertips, cutting the magic off. He turns to his host, “Would you stop spacing out, mutt? Get back to waking up! I need your assistance with this matter.”
—-
Salena’s void like gaze seems to snap out of it, color returning. She pushes herself up from her knelt stance. She puts some distance between them, a gate opening at her side. Peering through would see an older man on the other side, looking surprised as Salena reaches through, grabbing a test tube. She closes the gate before she can hear him yelling. A gray magic seems to come out of her forehead. Her eyes snap open, her arm raising up into the air as she brought the tube around the magic, catching some and closing the opening.
She pauses, looking over the contents before she turns her head back around to….
Her ears fall, tail moving back out. There’s more light in her eyes, a recognition as she stares at him. She moves down a bit more in front of the chair he is sitting in, then wraps her arms around him, “Arthur….”
He stilled as she moved to her knee, a protest locked in his throat as she did. He wanted to stop her, to ask her if she was really really sure because how could she be when it’s him maybe he didn’t explain well enough how much it could hurt---
But instead he sat in silence, unmoving and unspeaking. The only sign of his reluctance was widening eyes, before she was balanced on her knee, the other planted against the flooring. He could see her tail between her legs. He wanted to rescue her, to bring her back to standing. But... he couldn’t. Instead he sat, listless. This is what she wanted. It was confusing. She deserved better, but she... she wouldn’t say yes unless she was willing.
The seconds felt like they left furrows in the ground, with how slow they dragged by him. He stayed tensed and frozen, staring at her, even as she tensed and seemed to still. He opened his mouth once, closed it, opened it again. Had it worked? Was this just a joke? Was she okay? Was she remembering? Was she regretting it? He felt all his muscle twitch so much he seemed unmoving, statuesque in the chair.
He only caught his breath when she came to her feet. He only stared, almost hollow and too afraid to do anything else as she took a test tube from the lab. They had rounded bottoms. He might’ve taken an erlenmeyer flask. Though sealed with the rubber cap it wouldn’t mean much either way as long as no one damaged the thin glass. What would they do with it, anyways? How did the tube hold the magic? Maybe it was magic itself. And it wouldn’t be a bad idea to study the fae. Maybe find ways to undo their magic.
....But he was just trying to distract himself right now.
He almost froze again as she looked at him, and his breath returned to freezing in his lungs. She was staring at him, and the look on her face--- worried him. Why were her ears down? Did she not remember? Or did she, and that’s why she looked upset? Maybe she regretted it.
Except he can see the way her eyes glimmer, and the bright brilliant blue they are right now. The way she looks at him is so familiar it aches, it breaks, and a whimper escaped him before he could control himself. Hearing his name burns and is musical, and her arms are his anchor. He wobbles, he cracks, he nearly breaks in half.
Arthur.
The dam in his chest groans before giving way, and he crumbles. His arms wrapped around her in a moment, around her neck and holding tight. “S-Sal--- sal--- sal I’m so sorry-- you’re here--- sal--- i’m so sorry-- it’s my fault-- it’s my fault-- i’m sorry---” It’s a mess and half the words tangle where they don’t repeat. He’s lost track of what he was saying in the mess, but he clings to her like she might vanish if he didn’t. “I missed you-- I’m sorry-- I missed you you know me I missed that are you okay how do you feel---”
talesofnovembria:
He had fallen silent for a time after she had grabbed him. Was this like before? When he had first come here, she noticed the way he shrank back a bit, grabbed at his arm… now here he was not uttering a single word. Was it maybe perhaps that her words sunk in?
Her ear twitched to the sound of his voice, eyes tearing away from her. Her ears managed to pull back, finding herself unable to let go of his clothing, “Some memories hurt, but I would still rather have them than nothing at all. You don’t ever learn anything if all of that gets stripped away. Let’s hypothetically say you had done something that hurt me. Taking that away will just present the opportunity for the same situation to happen again. Does that really sound better to you?”
He’d fallen silent again… and over her question. She could hear him swallow, still unable to let his gaze fall on her. He’d done that twice… was this one question really so hard for him to answer?
Her ears moved up when he began to speak, cutting himself off before he could get more than one word out. She waited patiently, not speaking until she heard his answer.
He did give it, only to shrink down further. Her head lowered, finally releasing her grip from his hoodie. She reached out to grip his chin, pulling his head to meet her gaze again, “Well then sunflower, it seems like you have your answer don’t you?”
“How do we fix this? You must know the solution if you continue to claim to be the cause of this. What must we do to get my memories back?”
She--- had a point. That at least he could be a lesson. He hated this guilt she might hold... but if it happened again, inevitably....they would be emotionally ready. It wouldn’t be the same. Or...
Well. It’d be her right to decide what she wanted. And she decided, even if it wasn’t what he thought she’d ask. He wavered a little on his feet when she released his hoodie, overcompensating before standing there, fumbling with the hem of his shirt. His fingers knotted in the fabric, as Salena’s fingers captured his face and tilted it up. Finally, finally, he met her eyes, his own rimmed with his pain in a way that left him blistering and wishing he didn’t feel everything he did so much. He sniffled, but kept the emotions at bay.
The fact she wanted to fix this was....painful by it’s own right. That she chose him, because he missed her. It made him want to curl up just as much as it made him want to hug her. He withstood both desires for the moment, though, and swallowed the lump choking him. “I....if you want to get your memories back, you have to.... kneel. Before me. Ah...it...it was to hurt you, I know. Though you don’t need to.... really mean it. So there’s that. If you do you’ll remember....all of it. But that’s also the bad and just-- I....I don’t know. Are you really sure......?”

The anger was still there. Horrible throbbing anger that refused to be pushed down and once again he feels pinpricks in his eyes. Blinking, chrome wished he wouldn’t cry. Not now while Arthur was here. It just hurt. Everything hurt. Everything-
………..
“What?” Chrome asks, breathlessly. The sea of emotions died down in an instant, smothered and crushed by … It takes a few more minutes to process what Arthur said. Another few seconds to think of how to get his mouth to start moving again. “You’re serious? You want me to stay with you?”
……..
He can’t do that. He can’t just - he can’t just leave the cave.. no. No he can, because Arthur will help him block it off so no one else can access it.
“I’m not going to be a good roommate you know. I leave stains, and I have this trail-“ chrome gestures to the ground that was spattered with black and drying mud, “-I’ll probably wind up clogging your pipes and eating all the food and-“ god he was hungry, the thought of eating a meal was amazing…
“… I can’t do that, Arthur. I can’t.. I can’t take over your space like that.”
Arthur shuffled is feet. “I mean-- if you don’t want to stay with me, that’d--- that’d be okay.” His hand moved now, to his neck and then through his hair. He focused on the texture, to not let himself think too much about the silence, or to overwhelm himself with too many thoughts. He was still........tired.
“It’s just-- you should be somewhere better than here. And I have space. And honestly? I don’t care that you have goo or-- whatever. I mean it’s something I could handle and---work around. And someone has to eat the food before it goes bad....” A chuckle left him even as he looked away. There was yearning from Chrome, but he was in just... a weird headspace after everything. “I just.... I think it’d be better for you, than staying here. I really really do. And I have the room. So..... I want you to know it’s there.”

Maybe he’s just putting up a ruse… if Chrome gets closer he might bite and rip him to shreds. His gaze drops to his hand and his heart stills at seeing his fingers across the line… The television is still playing, and he could easily pull away if something were to happen…
Chrome swallows down the fear and pushes it down, and he readjusts so his palm was on the other side entirely. With that, he turns away, focusing on the television and the movie playing - the princess bride…
“I can tell. I can imagine it felt like a nightmare…” he may as well commit, he needs to see what Arthur is… he needs another topic. “Have you watched this movie a lot? I haven’t seen it in a long while, although it was a comfort for me when I was younger. My sisters and I would gather around the tv and eat spicy popcorn. Maybe later, I can make you a pizza, and we can relax and watch movies together. Would you like that?”
Arthur closed his eyes. His head rested in a sweaty mess on the armrest. The only sound he made was one of acknowledgement to Chrome, that he’d spoken. A small rumble from his throat. It took another moment, to actually speak. “...Yeah. It’s....it’s one me and Vivi and Lewis and Mystery all liked. So it’s got a special place in my heart.” He sank further into the cushions, wiping at his face. “Don’t worry about the pizza. Not really hungry an’ all.”
