Sal/Athena “Don’t ask questions just get over here right away.”
“Don’t ask questions just get over here right away.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Sal said with a grin before ending the call.
He hadn’t heard from Athena since just after Nash had passed.
That had been months ago.
Shit.
Had it been a year?
Who The Hell Is Edgar? by Teya & Salena: Have you seen this music video?

Tagging @herrmannhalsteadproduction because she also asked about Salena. I will be honest, nothing can top your Salena fics so I hope I do them justice.
The premise is this: Athena joins a book club (reluctantly) that's also a sort of grief support group. She happens to sit next to a handsome blue eyed fella full of snark - our beloved Sal Deluca. (In this scenario, I don't suppose he'd be with the LAFD anymore/wouldn't know about Bobby. I haven't fully work that out yet). They ditch the book club to grab coffee. Where does it go from there? So far unwritten, but I think you can guess. 😉
And here's a little excerpt for funsies!
“So, who did you lose?” Sal asked without preamble, sipping casually from his coffee cup. “Husband,” Athena answered, unbothered by the bluntness of the question. It was actually refreshing. “Wife,” Sal offered before Athena had to ask. “Drunk driver.” “Sudden illness,” Athena said. It was easier than trying to explain it all. “My condolences,” Sal said. “Likewise,” she said, leaning forward with interest. “Doesn’t seem like you enjoy the book club. Why do you go?” “Easy place to meet available women,” Sal winked at her. Athena laughed. Genuinely laughed. People were so careful with her anymore. It was wonderful to meet someone who didn’t bother. “And how has that worked out?” “We’ll see,” he grinned over the top of his cup.
