everyone saying this season is too depressing for rpf or isn't rpfable when it's bad would never have survived in the rpf scene of 2024 (famously* known as the first year of the blue jays rpf existing in any major way** phenomenon) or like. the first many weeks of 2025.
obviously winning baseball is the most fun to watch but i promise that disaster baseball can have just as many interesting narratives. new players getting chances they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. stress driving people together and having unwise sex to get their minds off things. fear of the trade deadline. the relief and joy when there is a win! the feeling of aging and time passing and not making the most of it. the feeling of having an incredible season but it isn't enough to make the team win. celebrating the little things even when they aren't enough. so much else. and no matter how bad a season gets there can always be locker room shower handjobs.
(this post is intended in a joking manner and nobody has to do any fandom hobbies that don't bring them joy! you can write about stuff from last year or invent an AU where the jays are winning like crazy or you can take a break for a while until it feels like fun again. i just wanted to say that there can be stories in anything. so much of what persists as crucial rpfy jays Moments or narratives come from the disaster that was 2024! for me, that was the year i went from being very tentatively reading a few fics to writing and collaging and making things for the first time and loving it! i hope the team improves so much but there are stories to be found and made no matter what if you ever feel like finding any.)
