You and Bakugo were on the phone. Well, you were apparently asleep, but he didn’t hang up. He thought he would just let out his feelings, even if you weren’t awake.

Usually, Bakugo doesn’t have problems falling asleep. He goes to bed early and easily, and wakes up early (but not so easily.) Tonight however, is different. He can’t fall asleep because you’re on his mind. You’re the only thing he can think about. That’s also why he didn’t hang up.

You two haven’t dated for long. But he couldn’t deny that he loved you so very much.

“I always treated you how I treated everyone else, just more… aggressive than I usually was,” he said very quietly, scared that you might be awake. But at the same time, maybe he wanted you to hear this. “It felt like I hated you. But then I realized it wasn’t hate, it was love.”

And you smiled.

you felt haunted.

you felt haunted by these strange emotions. you felt haunted by the sadness from your childhood that seemed to never leave. you felt haunted by the feeling that you would never be loved.

bakugo noticed your behavior. he noticed how sad you looked, even if you tried not to make it obvious. he noticed how all of your negative emotions have taken over you, or at least are trying to.

he knows that feeling. he knows what it’s like to carry so much on your shoulders. he knows what it’s like to feel like everything is your fault. he knows what it’s like to fall in a trap that you don’t realize you’re in until you try to leave, but can’t escape.

so when he finally tells you that he loves you, and when you’re finally his.

he swears he will take care of you and be the one you can rely on.

it’s 5pm.

you just got off work. you immediately throw your shoes off and collapse onto the couch. today was rough. your boyfriend is still on patrol.

it’s 6pm.

you decided to shower and watch TV to pass time. you send your boyfriend katsuki a text saying “i love you, can’t wait to see you <3”

it’s 6:30pm.

you made yourself a little meal. your boyfriend should be home soon. you see that katsuki hasn’t replied to your message yet. weird, but it’s okay. he’s on patrol.

it’s 7pm.

your boyfriend hasn’t responded to your text yet. you start to get nervous. he should’ve been home awhile ago. you have a feeling to turn on the news.

it’s 7:30pm.

you are watching your boyfriend fight a very dangerous villain on TV. fear fills your body, but you also are very hopeful. your boyfriend is dynamight, he won’t go down that easily, right?

it’s 8pm.

your boyfriend is still fighting the villain. he has more scratches on him now and is pretty injured. no one else is there to help him. you realize tears are streaming down your face now. he can’t lose. “a shitty villain would never kill me,” he said.

it’s 8:30.

he is struggling. he is bleeding profusely, his wounds do not look good at all. you are shaking, searching around the house for your keys getting prepared to drive to the hospital.

it’s 9pm.

others arrived to the scene, but he is down. you see him holding up a heart with his hands, mouthing something with a single tear rolling down his cheek that is covered in blood. you are too devastated to try to focus to what he was saying.

it’s 11pm.

he was announced dead. the words he mouthed were “i love you too, beautiful.”

“i think i love you.”

you didn’t think that was what bakugo was going to say when he asked you to go outside with him. it was dark outside, and rain was pouring down on the both of you. pretty cliché, you thought. but it was okay, you loved the rain.

“i think i love you,” he said.

his words repeated in your head. bakugo katsuki loves you? the one who’s biggest goal is becoming the number one hero. the one who never pays attention to anything else other than his goal. well, that’s what you thought, at least. this is impossible. were you that special to him? you didn’t even think he cared about you.

it was shocking to you, your mouth dropped open and your eyes were open wide.

even though you were shocked,

you couldn’t deny the feelings you had for him as well.

“i think i love you too,” you said. “but why do you think you love me, bakugo?”

“you’re the only person i feel i can let my guard down around. when i’m around you, my pride never seems to get in the way. at first, it felt uncomfortable. i didn’t know what i was feeling.” his head fell forward, staring at the ground. he grabbed your hand and held it in his. “but i take it all back.”

“i don’t think i love you. i do love you.”
