Funk & Daft Punk

The release of DP's highly-anticipated record Random Access Memories has allowed for endless debate online today. Many listeners were expecting heavy electro-driven beats, but when faced with funky guitar grooves, jazz keyboards and live drums, many newer EDM fans might say this album 'isn't the old Daft Punk'. This perception of such a masterpiece is to say the 'old Daft Punk' hasn't been a group focussed on progression, changing styles, and most especially musicality . When asked about their significance in the EDM scene, while not considering themselves as much a part of it, Thomas Bangalter of DP said; We think there is a strong level of experimentation in alternative music - a lot of new artists who actually don't have a lot of resources pushing the envelope as well. At the same time it seems that more established artists don't do it. And you're back to a vicious cycle. This point perfectly depicts just how we see the electronic music scene's growth
