THE JAPANESSE DUB WAS LITERALLY CREATED TO ENTERAIN THE OTAKU CIS WHITE SECTION OF THE FANDOM.
They literally don't give a FLYING FUCK about Japanesse culture and created awful racist jokes or “lol its an anime now!” jokes throughout the dub.
It makes me feel awful since...
The voice actors don't deserve to have their cultures literally trashed on by a OBVIOUSLY RACIST FANDOM.

Okay, I’m going to finally reply to this.
So I have some experience with sex work so I guess you can say I know what I’m talking about.
Now, one of the main issues with how Hazbin portrays sex work is that the writers don’t understand that all sex work is not the same. Angel is a stripper, a porn star, and a streetwalker. All three of those things are vastly different from one another. They’re not the same things. Now sex workers can do more than one thing but with Angel, it just feels like it’s tacked on because he’s supposed to be a mindless sex addict. Not a good look
And the issue with the Addict music video is that I can’t figure out how they feel about sex work or if Angel likes what he’s doing. Does he hate it, does he love it, is it a mix? I can’t really tell.
I also just feel like music video loses some of it’s message and ends up coming off to happy and poppy
hey! so i’ve been deep-diving into stuff about hazbin because hate for it has resurfaced lately (idk why) so I finally made myself watch the pilot yesterday. i’m glad to have finally found someone else who is disgusted by the way angel dust is designed and portrayed.. I had a really hard time reading the prequel comic. I’m a gay, fem trans man who does sex work and I can’t describe it in any other way than that angel dust in no way feels like a character whose experiences are researched or respected by the writers. he feels like a joke and an insult. i feel great pity for him because of how he’s treated in the narrative and by the writers, and at the same time i’m disgusted by how his pain is apparently fetishized for the sake of creating some over-sexualized sympathetic trauma porn femboy character for the fandom to woobify and degrade.

It was literally the first thing I noticed when watching the pilot and I was confused by those details the entire time- is angel dust a porn star, prostitute, or dancer?does he enjoy being flirty and sexual or is it something he does more when he’s trying to pick up clients? does he like his work?? if he’s the most famous porn star in their entire world, why is he desperate for clients and food/housing? who the hell is that pimp, why is he seemingly the guy that directs him to johns AND the owner/casting director of a huge porn studio? if angel dust is that well known as an actor, why does he have to perform sex acts on his landlord to pay rent? (this is a whole other point but why are other characters, esp vaggie in the prequel comic, so morally disgusted by the fact that angel dust does sex work? its totally framed as if he’s a sinner because he has to do “gross” “degrading” gay sex for money. i get that he’s an asshole and he has a so far unknown history with the mafia but you can’t tell me that the pilot/comic don’t directly imply that angel dust is in hell for being an addict and for doing sex work).
like you said, the situation is technically possible and its likely that sex workers do multiple things and have complicated feelings about sexuality and the reasons they enjoy/dislike their work but this... definitely does not feel like a nuanced, researched, or respectful portrayal of the profession. it feels more like how 14 year old me would play around on the sims- giving my sim the flirty, hopeless romantic, and materialistic traits, dressing them up in high heels and fishnets, and pretending they were obsessed with sex and loved doing every single sex-related job. that’s the level of depth we’re working with on hazbin.

As someone with trauma- fuck them. Fuck them a lot. Trigger warnings are a massive help. It's not just getting "offended over a cartoon". Its having a panic attack because said cartoon is mocking the shit that traumatised you. Said cartoon keeps fucking bringing it up without warning. Said cartoon makes it a fucking joke.
People arent getting traumatised by the show. People with trauma, however, can get triggered by what's in it. People with trauma cant control their triggers- so its wonderful to have a fucking warning so I dont have a meltdown❤
if you're getting this mad over a cartoon it's pretty damn clear you've never experienced actual trauma, because i can tell you people who have dealt with real traumatizing shit don't have the luxury to cry over a fucking drawing.
