Picking up where he left off last year, San Diego’s defending race and season champion Luke McMillin roared through the Baja desert to defeat a massive 285 starters at 2023 Baja 250 loop-race in San Felipe, Baja California. McMillin has diligently worked his was to the top of the Trophy Truck class he earned the No. 1 plate after winning last year’s season championship and now has five career Trophy Truck race wins including the San Felipe Baja 250 the last two years.

Luke McMillin o-tone at the finish line, “It was awesome. We had a perfect day. We just cruised all day. We just stopped one time at our planned pit stop and took 18 seconds of fuel, that was it.”

A surprise overall motorcycle winner to many, but definitely not to themselves, Ciaran Naran and Tucker Hopkins split the riding to capture the overall win. Both experienced racers rode their No. 3X Husqvarna FE450 to finish first among the motorcycles in a time of 6:08:05 (42.95mph) over the motorcycle course of 263.50 miles

The third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship held all its promises with a fantastic Grand Prix spread across Saturday for the RAM Qualifying Races and Monday for the races due to Easter Sunday! The brand-new track of Frauenfeld gave us some exciting fights across both categories and the atmosphere was electric thanks to the great Swiss public coming in large number.

At the end of the day the victory went to Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux, who won for the first time of the season as well as his first podium. Second on the podium was Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado and third Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre.

Starting first as the fast qualifier for the race, Las Vegas' champion desert racer Bryce Menzies never looked back as he roared through the Baja California desert to defeat 193 starters in Saturday’s 2nd Baja 400. The race launched the second half of the four-race 2021 desert championship. Bryce Menzies o-tone: "We came away from San Felipe with a win and then we had some issues leading the SCORE Baja 500. We have qualified first every time this year and our game plan was to play it smart. We put a little gap on Luke (McMillin) and I just wanted to keep it there all day, but then towards the finish I started making small mistakes. I don’t know what was going on; I just wasn’t in it, and he started catching me. I actually got stuck in a really tight section and had to back up. When you back up a four-wheel drive vehicle, it only goes into two-wheel drive, so I almost got stuck and I started to panic.

Luke McMillin drove race mile 430 to the finish.) –- It was a great day. Larry did an amazing job, he just kept it in line and had no downtime, which is exactly what you need to do in the first half of the Baja 1000. No one knows it more than Larry, he’s won this thing 13 times. He brought me a clean truck, we were third and were right up there with the top leaders when I got in. We were just waiting for them to make a mistake. Ampudia (No. 10) got a flat tire and I was just trailing my brother (Dan McMillin, No 23). I made a run for it and he let me go as the great teammate he is. We didn’t have a single flat tire all day and that’s unbelievable. The race was tight all day between Dan, Ampudia and Rob Maccachren (No. 11).

This mini documentary was never planned and thankfully with the help of great people such as Eric Sorensen & John Holloway we (the Ampudia family) are able to tell the story of a year of ups and downs in life and in racing. While also giving viewers a little history in the Baja Score Off-road world & the beginnings of Papas&beer and the Ampudia family racing history.

Out at State Fair MX doing some testing when the HRC Honda van roll up. Sure enough, Jordan Troxell rolled out a freshly prepped 2021 HRC CRF450R and Ken Roczen pulled up shortly after. Clip of Ken breaking-in his new ride and laying her over in the corners. Roczen is eager to get back to racing after his withdrawal from the outdoors and is loving his new Honda, which is apparent in this video.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team’s Cooper Webb has finished runner-up in the 2020 AMA 450 Supercross Championship, following a valiant effort to secure a second-straight title amidst a unique set of challenges this season. Heading into Sunday’s finale at Rice-Eccles Stadium, the seventh stop in Salt Lake City, Webb held an eight-race podium streak with three victories taking place in Utah. The 2019 450SX Champion started the day off strong, sharing pole position with championship rival Eli Tomac as both riders laid down a fast time of 49.438 in qualifying. In 450SX Heat 1, Webb got off to a top-five start and he worked his way through the pack to ultimately secure a second-place finish in the heat. In the Main Event, Webb had a good jump off the start but he got tangled up with another rider in the first turn and went down. He was able to rally from almost last to 14th by the end of lap one and from there he put his head down and charged through the pack.

Today’s "modern classic" scramblers are more show than go. Stylistically, they hark back to the golden years of Californian desert racing—but you wouldn’t want to actually race one across the desert. There are only a couple of motorcycles that buck this trend, and the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled is one of them. Even though it’s not a full-blown enduro machine, it’s surprisingly good off-road. So much so, that most reviewers refer to it as “the Scrambler Ducati should have built in the first place.”

Former factory Kawasaki race team mechanic Jonny Weisman, who now owns The Ride Shop in Arizona, build a modern Husqvarna TC500CR two-stroke of our own. This build was a long, slow grind with tons of fabrication on just about every aspect of the build. After all, a 2001 Honda CR500 engine doesn’t just drop right into a new-generation Husqvarna FC450 chassis.

If it did, we would see them all over the place. Like we just mentioned, the chassis started off as an FC450, but it wasn’t bought all at one time. First, the main steel frame was purchased on eBay, and the entire lower engine cradle was removed. A new cradle was fabricated by Weisman that would later house the new 500cc Honda powerplant.
