Picking up where he left off last year, San Diego’s defending race and season champion Luke McMillin roared through the Baja desert to defeat a massive 285 starters at 2023 Baja 250 loop-race in San Felipe, Baja California. McMillin has diligently worked his was to the top of the Trophy Truck class he earned the No. 1 plate after winning last year’s season championship and now has five career Trophy Truck race wins including the San Felipe Baja 250 the last two years.
Luke McMillin o-tone at the finish line, “It was awesome. We had a perfect day. We just cruised all day. We just stopped one time at our planned pit stop and took 18 seconds of fuel, that was it.”
A surprise overall motorcycle winner to many, but definitely not to themselves, Ciaran Naran and Tucker Hopkins split the riding to capture the overall win. Both experienced racers rode their No. 3X Husqvarna FE450 to finish first among the motorcycles in a time of 6:08:05 (42.95mph) over the motorcycle course of 263.50 miles

Starting first as the fast qualifier for the race, Las Vegas’ champion desert racer Bryce Menzies never looked back as he raced through the Baja desert to win the Baja 250 / San Felipe 250. Chasing Menzies’ dust closely to the finish line were San Diego’s Luke McMillin and his cousin Andy McMillin, also from San Diego.
o-tone Bryce Menzies, No. 7 (First overall, first in class. Bryce Menzies drove solo.): “We qualified P1 and started out front. It’s tough leading the whole race with those guys chasing you down. About race mile sixty, Andy (McMillin) flatted which let Luke (McMillin) by, and he made up that minute gap in between so the whole race he was only thirty seconds back, so I was pushing as hard as I could towards the finish. When I turned the corner on that last bit, it was really rough and I pushed as hard as I could, and turning that last corner they said I had twelve seconds on Luke. 280 miles and we were only separated by twelve seconds.
Unbelievable race. This course was the funnest race course I have ever been on in San Felipe – all the washes were amazing, so many spectators out there, I’m just so glad to be back in Baja.”
Follow along as Bryce Menzies and Oren Anderson claim the top spot at this years San Felipe 250. In the Trophy Truck class Bryce Menzies will lead the way on Saturday with a time of 6 Minutes and 5 Seconds. Redbull teammate Andy McMillin grabbed the second spot just 5 seconds slower then Menzies.
Justin Lofton: Talk about a bummer, not racing today but that's life. I hope everyone is staying home and sending some time with family and enjoying all the small things, but don't worry we have a full catalog of #AHBEEF Life you to watch and catch up on.
Memorable San Felipe 250 race course of 349.91 miles, the longest in the history of this popular "Spring Break" desert race. This year’s grueling race course will be another beauty to behold but a tough challenge to race on. It runs in a clockwise direction running over high-speed dry lake beds, through low-speed winding, rock-strewn, twisting canyons and trails, along quick-paced dirt roads and through three of Baja’s most infamous washes in Azufre, Matomi, and Coabuso.
It features three physical, full-stop checkpoints and 96 virtual checkpoints.
