beacon for the lonely [peko & ibuki]
Her long pale fingers skim the pages, seemingly absorbing every bit of information on the page. The music notes come alive under her touch. As she reads the page, Ibuki murmurs the music in a light voice. After a few moments, her fingers run out of paper to skim. It is only then that she realizes that she has been hunched over the desk for much too long. Her back aches and her neck nearly refuses to move.
Carefully, she stands and stretches herself out. She has been scouring the library’s new music selection for hours now. She hadn’t realized how long she’d been here, but it becomes apparent when she glances out the window and sees that the sun has fallen from its highest point. As she moves around trying to loosen her muscles, she notices a figure out of the corner of her eye. “Peko-chan.” She whispers.
Excitedly, Ibuki grabs the sheet music from the desk and scurries over to see what the Super High School Level Swordswoman is doing in the library. As she comes closer, she can see the book that lays in Peko’s lap and how gently she touches the kitten in the picture. In her excitement, Ibuki trips, throwing her music into the air. The pages flutter and rain down around the two.
From a sprawled out position on the floor, she looks up and smiles meekly. “Sorry Peko-chan! Ibuki wanted to show you a song, but uh—” She giggles. “Looks like Ibuki wanted to throw you a song instead!”
The slightest bit of surprise translates across Peko's features as the musician made her entrance. Always one to resort to a series upbeat and unexpected actions, she had a tendency of making the kendoka anxious. 'Show me a song...?' Watching exasperatedly as the sheet music came fluttering down around them, she angled her attention down towards Mioda's sprawled form on the floor before snapping her attention back to the open book in her lap. Immediately, she flusters with embarrassment and scrambles to put herself back together.
Whilst slightly melancholy that her kitten-laden daydream had come tumbling to an abrupt end, she clapped the book closed quickly and brought it to her chest; attempting to disclose it in an embrace. Pressing her lips into a concentrated line, she weighed the current situation in her mind. Had the other girl seen anything...? That must have been the case. Peko never was certain how Mioda always managed to catch her off guard like she did. She supposed her love for fluffy animals didn't have to be a secret... But for some reason, it made her nervous to get caught like this.
The silver-haired girl picked herself up from her perch and slid the book into its' proper place on the shelf. Steering herself around and avoided stepping on the sheet music the other girl had lost a hold of. Closing the distance between them reluctantly and leaning down in slight attempt to match her height. Although the action was stiff, she extended a hand towards the fallen musician. An effort to help her up.
"...Mioda." She says the other girl's name monotonously in greeting. Afterwards she blinks, taking a long pause to think about what she's going to say next. "Are you all right...?"
