there's disabled people out there who could probably work if they really really pushed themselves, but don't work. there's people who could probably do more housework than they can, or aren't putting out the maximum amount of effort they are able to manage. and you know what? that's great. those people don't have to wring every last drop of ability from their bodies to be allowed to have a break. or be supported. i'm so happy that there might be disabled people who got support before things were dire. i think more disabled people should get support so that less of them have to work even if they can at a push, and more of them have time to do important things. like take a nap. ameen
Being disabled has made me notice all of the ways the world is failing in accessibility. I’m fortunate that I can now open doors with my arms/hands, but do you know how many times I look around and there is no wheelchair access button on public doorways? Or how many times the button is broken? Or how there is no place to sit in a store, or the chairs were recently removed when I planned on using them to rest? Not to mention the uneven sidewalks, or aisles that are too narrow, or whatever else? People really do forget disabled people exist.
Something I wish abled bodied people would understand is that just because I’m using a mobility aid doesn’t mean I’m “hurt” in that moment necessarily. They’re also preventative measures. Since I’ve began using my aids at work I’ve gotten so many versions of “what happened to you” that I genuinely cannot keep track. Nothing *happened*, sometimes people are just disabled.
I wish standing didn't hurt
can they invent a mobility aid that helps with the joint pain & also does NOT cause different joint pain in a different area from use
Wild concept that shouldn’t be wild and the coldest take ever: disabled adults are *adults* and not just children trapped in adult bodies
Disabled adults have sex
Disabled adults do drugs
Disabled adults curse
Disabled adults get piercings and tattoos
Disabled adults can make adult decisions and act and behave like adults because we are adults
It’s just so weird for people to constantly infantilize me all because of my mobility aids when I’m not a child!!!
its actually so crazy being a bones fan like wdym i cry when i hear lime in the coconut?
It's me and my heating pack against the world fr

welcome to my blog, where 99% of the time you will probably not be getting the content you signed up for.
OKAY YEAH I REMEMBER THIS ONE Basically it came from a survey done by Bank of America. Of only their customers. Of only those customers that had a long term savings account with them. And only surveyed 1500 of them. And that, friends, is how statistics is used to lie!!
Always ask who ran the survey, the study, the poll, ask how many people were involved, and ask about the breakdown of the demographics.
As someone who had to study statistics, this is important to know. So important that it’s one of the first things they taught me. “You can prove anything with statistics.”
You know, it’s easy to want to run away from things that scare you. Easier than trying to fight through the complications.
