kill me for always (feat. porter robinson) - obsessed with everything about this song. the visuals of the single artwork and lyric video and the lyrics describing castles, soldiers and knives in backs really call to mind images of medieval knights and quests. it's just such a beautiful song.
cool - this song was perfect as the first single in my opinion; the 5sos references, the emo-ish vibes, the pop rock sound. i think this song is the perfect representation of michael as both a person and a musician.
give me a break! - MY FAVOURITE SONG ON THE ALBUM!! pop punk perfection. plus the video is so iconic, they really nailed the aesthetic.
remember when - this sounds so nostalgic that if you told me it came out in 2012 i would believe you. the woahs in the chorus make it sound similar to the millennial optimism songs that came out in that era (though a cool more rock version).

everyone’s a star! - obsessed with the drumline, the whole song sounds almost dreamlike. sets the tone and vibe for the whole album really well.
not ok - my favourite of the singles! love the pop punk / gorillaz style vibes. MICHAELS GUITAR SOLO AT THE END!!!!!!!! i ascend to heaven every time i hear it. the music video slays also.
telephone busy - need to hear this in the club asap! when i say i like dance music, this is the kind i mean! obsessed with an ashton vocal as always.
boyband - if you listen really closely you can hear 10-12 year old me saying "they aren't a boyband because they play instruments!". i love the lyricism, the definition of deep meanings hidden under a great beat. forever mourning the music video.
no. 1 obsession - i want to say i'm obsessed but that seems like a cheap shot. LOVE the rock sound with the electric drums and guitars. the lyrics for the chorus are some of my favourite on the whole album. i think this is my favourite song on the album? though it changes everyday.
i’m scared i’ll never sleep again - such a beautifully sounding song - both instrumentally and lyrically. i can picture myself in an 80s movie style fantasy ball slow dancing with a princess.
istillfeelthesame - 80s vibes. the outro is perfection. maybe this one is my favourite actually? i just wish it was longer.
ghost - yet another sad 5sos song with the word ghost. sounds like a late night drive by the ocean when the moon makes the waves sparkle.
sick of myself - love a happy sounding song with sad lyrics! the simpler sounding instrumentation reminds me of 2015 for some reason. it's very nostalgic sounding for me.
evolve - to me this is like a continuation of boyband, the boys feel like dancing monkeys who exist purely for the publics entertainment, and them getting drunk and doing drugs and losing control could be interpreted either as them being stereotypical 'rockstars' or the only way they can feel alive.
the rocks - emosos! love the rockier sound with the lover boy lyrics. it's a sort of amalgamation of 2014/2015 sound with 2020/2022 lyrics.
jawbreaker - the poppy drumline is so hypnotising and i love the message. it feels like this sliver of reality at the end of the standard edition album, the sun rising on the morning after a crazy night of rockstar debauchery. to me it's saying "we've done all this cool shit, we're living the reality we always and dreamed of" but with a sense of disenchantment, like it isn't fulfilling how they wanted it to be.
start over - RELATEABLE! this song basically ripped my heart out then disco danced on it.
wishful dreaming - the guitars in this song are everything to me! my favourite bonus track.
chest - this song reminds me of my girlfriend because on our last road trip it was on repeat in the car. plus my heart lives in her chest.
i’ll find you - ok so i'm crying? it's the end of everyone's a star fully evolved and i'm sobbing??? it's always the calum songs that get you. this song is genuinely beautiful, it sounds like a hug from the person you love most.
