i wish we got another google maps thing for this quest but vriska unfortunately is lame and not prepared enough. also im surprised vriska didnt try and say tavros was being sent to a "gate 8" but i guess she also had to trick the audience to mess with our expectations of where she was actually sending tavros

interesting that the land of maps and treasure has an actual map for a sky. i wonder if its like skaia where there is like an actual item that can like let things go through it but only one way or whatever. that would be an interesting thing to mess around with in a fanfic i think

i really dont get vriska's fixation on tavros when she should have already figured out by now that she cant make her "boy skylark" get tougher. tavros looks really weird when hes sad in sprite mode with the way he just flops on the ground here like his mouth sorta looks like that initial concept equius that was revealed recently

where do people keep finding this special stardust??? its like it just sorta appears sometimes

interesting that tavros's hands have motion blur in this gif for some reason. kinda helps show just how uncomfortable he is, along with the detail of the entire body shaking but the head staying in place. im not too familiar with the psychology of victims of this kinda stuff but it feels accurate from what i do know

vriska is definitely a very complicated character. being the assaulter here yet not being happy when she literally controls the victim to make him love her is like just such an interesting choice i feel like. it makes her feel more genuine about wanting tavros to be "better" yet also shows how she really doesnt understand tavros that well at all really. i think it would genuinely make sense to say that she understands tavros as just a classpect instead of a person, like how people on that one anonymous twitter account just go "how would my session go" and have like 20 classpect jpegs that dont actually describe the people specifically enough to reach a real conclusion of how it could break down from a narrative standpoint. i might be saying literally nothing right now idk i mentioned before that i have a headache and im currently at the aspirin point of "almost being pushed away but not quite" so whatever

feel like kanaya always ends up playing the supporter to another character besides like the one time she gets to be cool and slice eridan in two. i guess it makes sense since she is a space player and even the witch of that aspect gets shoved in an isolating yellow box for 3 years post retcon because of the aspects natural like passivity i guess.

hope the "[verbing] a [noun] and [adverb]. it's hard and nobody understands." gets used in beyond canon with those new kids. would love to see one of them say "it's easy and nobody understands" or something stupid like that to riff on it. is that even what riff means?

vriska drama gets pretty boring on reread tbh.

doc scratch introduction is cool but hes cooler later. wonder what earth c's first guardian is. or deltritus's first guardian. hope its not dirk.

glad we get to see equius actually physically near poor aurthour's body, i honestly thought we didnt.

wow so the guillotine causes equius's whole hive to fall that is unfortunate

glad he could still enter at least. that had to have messed up some of the stuff in there tho right? how could aurthour not have been prototyped in all that craziness? weird

wish we got to see more of the troll's planets. land of caves and silence is a pretty interesting place for a guy like equius.

absolute freak of a boy. almost said man. kind of crazy to think a 13 year old is being characterized like this. i think this is the only other time the bathtub throwing is referenced. if we got to see beforus's session it probably could have happened there too

equius can jump to his first gate by himself yet people still think that he was actually at a phyiscal disadvantage against gamzee? hate fake meowrail fans because its almost always the fake meowrail fans that say that kind of stuff but also just people in general are like that. people as in people in the homestuck space of course. normal people dont know what an equius is or why he got choked to get by a clown, while homestuck people only know the first thing. very simple logic here

sgrub is no challenge for equius, the hero of the story

aradiabot oh no... oh no aradiabot... the one thing equius did wrong...... oh no..... i wish he could be normal about aradia or at least not try and force her to love him

see how aradia has psychic powers that overpower equius here? this is what actual challenge is. maybe hes just not resisting against them because hes a freak but i would like to think that this is like a genuine display of how the caste system works. the top and bottom are the strongest but the top live long with like very few and the bottom live short but with many and thats how balance is kept. it all makes sense. i really really hate the "troll castes dont actually have live span differences" headcanon like it genuinely pisses me off and i dont use that kind of phrasing a lot especially when it comes to le freaking wholesome headcanons that only exist because the actual logical truth is "too sad" or the 0 other explanations i have ever seen of it. EVERYTHING ABOUT TROLLS IS SAD!!!! ALTERNIA SUCKS TO LIVE IN!!! WHY WOULD BEFORUS BE STRUCTURED LIKE THAT IF THERE WAS NOT SOME REASON FOR THE LOWER CASTES TO BE LOWER????? this is like actually the only headcanon i think i have ever gotten really upset over, because it literally only diminishes the quality and logic of the canon story for the sake of a wholesome chungus burger with a chonky seal soder on the side. going back on topic: equius is in the wrong, aradia is in the right although in an ideal scenario the chip could have just been removed without destruction since i assume the heart thing is probably important to the machinery of the bot somewhat so then after that if equius properly apologized and accepted her response no matter what then that would be nice but thats not a very interesting story (HINT HINT, NUDGE NUDGE, AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS PEOPLE DO WHEN YOU ARE SUBTLY REFERENCING A POINT YOU PRETTY MUCH JUST MADE BUT DONT TRUST THE READERS ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND IT WITHOUT GUIDANCE) so of course thats not what happens and equius still deserves what ever happens to him here

i wonder if he has a whole face panel of dismay because of the work he put into the machinery or because he got rejected due to being a creepy weirdo trying to force someone into a relationship

jade smack reuse but for a purely negative situation is interesting. maybe its more because its slapping a heir? maybe heirs just need to be slapped into their senses often?

i like the karkat emotional analysis of vriska. i wonder if it still holds up?

karkat really is like of the saddest trolls arc-wise. he gets an entire planet of his blood, never gets to fulfill his destiny as the second coming of the signless, and then just sits around and either dates a guy who is like a perfect toxic brew of his two pitch crushes or leads a mediocre rebellion against some human lady that wants to control troll birth or whatever

i like that jack cuts the exact blood aspect symbol into his hand.

of course karkat flips about about another red blooded being like him. yo would think he would be like "of course the alien doesnt have troll blood colors" but hes too stuck in his torment nexus of blood to even process that

wonder why the weird symbol on the bucket thing on that scarecrow thing isnt used again or why tavros so flagrantly has something like that out in public

to me it does not look like tavros's window is open by choice. that looks kind of broken but like a while ago broken to where the glass has already been all taken out but the frame hasnt been fixed. you know

what a stupid looking scale. why couldnt you just like, idk, take the big skull off the other side? stupid. and although that ominous doomsday box obviously has something to do with skaia i dont really know what it is or remember if it was ever explained at all

dragons should always be real in a setting with even a hint of fantasy to it. just like a general rule. dragons are always real unless its literally real life unfortunately

interesting separation of "we" and "you" going on. wish it became more relevant at some point

nobody talks about terezi genuine distress panel. its so good. the weird face. the pointless up and down bobbing. the randomly orange text. her hair not looking particularly in perspective with the rest of her face. flawless.

skaia seems much more deeply ingrained in the world of alternia, which makes sense since its a fake world that doesnt exist compared to earth, but its still kind of weird to imagine there just being a pseudo cruxtruder sitting in a random forest waiting for a specific mothergrub to die so its skull could be used to balance a random scale that was placed there for literally no reason

funny how this aradia switch from what is either hussnasty or hero to sprite is like the only direct comparison between the two we ever get to see and using those rules makes everything feel both too small yet still too big

10/4 update

im really late to this. my bad.

i feel like in some ways equius could be considered more normal than terezi at times. its not all the time but there are moments. also i played pesterquest and i dont think i particularly liked how any of the trolls where characterized question mark? its been a like less than two days and i already sorta forgot ngl. ts pmo that the terezi is this you images dont work already off to a bad start here

my eyes might not be going good from sleep deprivation but i feel like tavros used to be more saturated. maybe im weird

being a dreamself sounds both kind of fun and also really anxiety inducing at the same time. escaping to funny purple land at the cost of being defenseless in your main body is not the best idea in a sburb session and that dave thing later where he gets put in a pot is like a decent example of that potential although that was partially evil spider girl's fault

i forgot this peak flash was placed here okay. only comment i want to leave is that i think that sleeping jade is the first appearance of the alternia/beforus-bound talk sprite style? damn it feels like a third of act 4 takes place in literally just this flash theres so much

okay before we start i realized this yesterday but i was complaining about vast error classpect reveals being early and lame when this nanna page is also like that but i still stick by my own thoughts on that because i mean like those titles basically mean nothing to new readers. and its not like its trying to be fake subtle either by "hiding" it in the image, but instead it just says it in the raw text. this doesnt matter and i dont really care that much, but i just wanted to add that on. anyways the start of act 3 is cool but jades plants look really really weird
