Disney Cars 3 "Road to the Races" Nationwide Tour
The release of Cars 3, 'the most human' film of the franchise, marks yet another coup for Pyramid Logistics. Hired by Disney. Pixar, this renowned logistics firm successfully accomplished studio transportation for the "Road to the Races" nationwide tour with 3 life-sized Cars characters for the promotion of Cars 3. The tour rolled through 27 cities, gearing up from Disney Springs in Orlando, through Miami, Tampa, and much more ending at Sonoma. The look-alike of all the characters were handled with expertise and years of experience.
As the life of Lightning McQueen, 5-time Piston Cup champion moves on, he experiences a brutal brush with mortality. At 40, he realizes that he would no longer be able to do the one thing that he loves the most. The film introduces two more characters, a deuterogamist, trainer Cruz Ramirez, and the villainous millennial Jackson Storm.Cruz Ramirez, a 2017 CRS sports coupe,fuels up McQueen with her optimistic, sunny air and drives him to use his anger to his potential while Jackson is the advanced nemesis for lightning,ready to dump the old guy, who he thinks 'have had their days'. Jackson Storm, a 2017 custom built anext-gen racer,stands for everything that has changed in the real world since the introduction of Cars in 2006. He has been designed in such a way that standing next to him, Lightning looks old.
The nationwide promotional tour of Cars 3 roared to life on the23rdMarch in Disney Springs, Orlando. Two specially outfitted vehicles transported the three characters throughout the US, a truck for carrying our beloved Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm and another made especially for the exhibits. Alamo Rent a Car, Coppertone, Oral B, Crest, Dole, Mattel sponsored the wondrous event. Each of the sponsors organized various activities, which created an air of excitement and relationship with the three characters out on the road. The glimmering, life-sizedlook-alike of lightning McQueen spurred kids and even adults to grab the opportunity of a great picture with him. Other activities included a giant coloring mural of McQueen and friends by Alamo Rent a Car with a color pencil pack souvenir, racer pit crew by Coppertone. This encouraged visitors to engage in tire-changing activities, "Cars" themed oral care products by Crest and Oral B, "Cars 3" inspired recipes and vegetable smoothies by Dole to fuel up people. Mattel set up an interactive play area and a collection of the cast characters from past and present, making the whole activity more interesting and lively.A sneak peek of the movie was provided in the Cinetransformer Mobile Movie Theatre.
The whole tour was centered around the presence of the full-sized characters which were transported with safety and punctuality by Pyramid Logistics. Pyramid Logistics Delivers at Comic-Con International in San Diego
July of this year in San Diego, the annual Comic-Con International hosted over 160,000 (167,000 in 2015) attendees during the four days of the event. Formerly called the “San Diego Comic Book Convention”, which began in 1970, now is overcrowded and sells out every year. The organizers mission statement reads, “Comic-Con International San Diego is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.” After 47 years, it has grown to be the largest comic and pop culture event in the world.
This year Pyramid Logistics arranged studio transportation and delivery of equipment, displays, and needed technology, from some of the most famous movie studios producing popular culture movies and television shows today; Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox and Columbia. Comic-Con is the largest convention held in San Diego. It fills the San Diego Convention Center to capacity and spills over into the use of nearby hotels for event space. An attendance “cap” has been in place since 2007, but is always exceeded. In 2011 the Convention brought $180 million to the area economy. San Diego has a large interest in seeing that Comic-Con stays in San Diego. In 2008, David Glanzer, the Director of marketing and public relations, made comments on the Comic-Con staying in San Diego, “We’ve been approached by other cities, I don’t think anybody wants to leave San Diego. I certainly don’t. It’s a perfect fit for us. It’s expensive, whether it be paying for the street signs that tell you what streets are closed, or for any police or the hall or any of the myriad of things, it’s expensive. But it’s a great city. There’s been some talk of expansion of the center, which we would certainly welcome. Hopefully if everything lines up, we will be here for many more years.” In fact, at the end of this year’s Convention, it was announced that Comic-Con had extended its commitment to stay in San Diego until 2021.
Comic-Con International provides attendees with the latest news on all the biggest films, TV shows and comics that are coming attractions. The event is packed with screenings, panels, interviews and showcases. Attendees can even attend seminars and workshops with comic book professionals. There are screening rooms devoted to Japanese animation films, feature films, new video game concepts, and comic books. During the evenings, there are award ceremonies and an annual Masquerade costume contest is held. An Independent Film Festival is also held which features short and feature length films that do not have distribution deals.
In 2013 there were over a thousand vendors exhibiting on the main floor space. Among these were toy manufacturers, comic book dealers, artists, movie studios, TV networks, and collectibles dealers. The exhibitor’s floor also has a space known as Artists’ Alley where comic book artists sell and do sketches, writers can be interviewed and models move through the crowd.
In recent years, the number of promoted television shows outnumber the films. Both TV and film productions have screenings and discussion panels with actors, writers, and others from their projects. This year Steven Spielberg was there promoting his new, “Ready Player One” and a trailer was shown. Ben Affleck attended and was interviewed about Batman departure rumors. Stan Lee was an honored attendee as co-creator of Fantastic Four, Spider-man, Avengers, and X-Men for Marvel Comics, the leader of the comic book industry. He has also developed Thor and the Black Panther. “Goosebumps” author, R. L. Stine also attended. Every year Conan O’Brien has a week of live television shows right from the Conic-Con San Diego event. In fact, Comic-Con has gotten so big, it is hard to keep track of all the events taking place during the entire convention on a daily basis. The international press covers the many events for a worldwide audience.
DC Films announced a “Wonder Woman 2” film in development, and a Flash storyline for the movie, “Flashpoint”. New “Aquaman” footage was premiered, and a Justice League trailer was shown. Marvel Studios showed the “Thor Ragnarok” trailer, new “Black Panther” footage was presented, Captain Marvel information was released, and the “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer was premiered. DC TV promoted upcoming TV shows, trailers, storylines and casting for programs such as Gotham, Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Lucifer. The casts of the new shows, Black Lightning and Krypton, gave interviews. Krypton will feature actors in the rolls of Brainiac, Doomsday, and Hawkwoman. Warner Brothers Animation and DC Entertainment premiered their new animated feature, “Batman and Harley Quinn”. The storyline finds Batman and Nightwing trying to save humanity. They enlist the aid of Harley Quinn to catch the deadly and destructive Poison Ivy. Discussion panels were held after the premier with the actors and producers.
Comic-Con draws toy and collectible manufacturers from around the world. These manufacturers produce “Comic-Con Exclusive” merchandise. Most of this merchandise is licensed properties of movies, comic book, and animation characters. Among others, companies such as Lego, Hasbro, Mattel, Gentle Giant, ThinkGeek, and Toynami are producers included in the convention exclusive merchandise sales. Comic-Con has either been featured in or provided background in many TV shows, among them are; The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, Castle, Entourage, The O.C., Numb3rs, Beauty and the Geek, Punk’d and others. It was the setting of, “Mark Hamill’s Comic Book: The Movie”, and “Comic-Con IV: A Fan’s Hope”.

Pyramid Logistics Provides Over 50 Trucks of Trade Show Transportation to E3 June 2017
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is the premier international event for the gaming industry, held in Los Angeles, California. It is currently held in June every year. Pyramid Logistics was employed by many major contributors to provide trade show transportation and logistics. Pyramid Logistics is a leading tradeshow logistics and transportation company, that can get merchandise and displays anywhere in the world on time and in safety. For the E3 this year they transported more than 50 trucks filled with merchandise, equipment and displays for companies including; Activision, SEGA, Turtle Beach, THQ Nordic Games, and Bandi Namco Entertainment.
This year’s gaming expo had 68,000 attendees with 189 exhibitors from over 100 countries. E3 showcases new technologies and products for computer, video and mobile games and related products.The first E3 started as a break off from other trade shows intended for the electronics and computer industries. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the Expo’s organizers, began as an organized response to the need for a ratings system for video games. Creating ESA, unified the video game industry and a voluntary standard rating system was adopted. This ratings system was later approved by the U.S. Congress. Video game publishers and retailers were not satisfied with the way video games were marginalizedat the other trade shows, and in response, industry retailers wanted a video game specific tradeshow. E3 was inaugurated in 1995 at the Los Angeles Convention Center with more than 40,000 attendees. It was the biggest event in the video game industry.
The event grew so much that by 2006 there were 60,000-70,000 attendees. Retailers and exhibitors complained that with so many consumers in attendance, it was difficult to reach journalists and conduct the business that they were hoping to accomplish. The Expo was downsized and restructured. Attendance was restricted to members of the industry and media (journalists) only, without including consumers. With lower attendance and no consumers, there was little word-of-mouth being spread and almost no external media coverage. This resulted in reducing visibility and “buzz” for the game publishers, the opposite of what they wanted to accomplish.
By 2009 consumers had been welcome but limited by the sale of tickets. In 2009 the attendance was capped at 45,000. Nintendo and Electronic Arts were not showcased. Microsoft and Sony held pre-E3 events and showcased new games for the pre-disclosed new game systems. Since 2015 ESA has sought ways to bring the public to the event, which they discovered, resulted in more publicity through word-of-mouth by the “gamers”. This year 15,000 passes were available for the public, all of them sold. In total 68,000 people attended. This number caused too much crowding on the tradeshow floor and created too many floor management issues, it was reported. ESA has contracted with the Los Angeles Convention Center until 2019. Because of all the technology required for the Expo, modernization is needed for the venue as well as other upgrades to the facility. Going forward, ESA may consider other options for the E3 venue, as the attendance and demand for up to date technology continues.
Currently, the format for E3 features presentations, similar to press conferences, from major hardware and software publishers in the main auditorium.Companies present upcoming products available for the current year and reveal new products. Afterwards the exhibition halls open up. Attendees can speak to company representatives for more information and get upcoming titles. Developers and publishers have booths for their products including demo stations, where attendees can try out games.In 1996 an E3 event was organized in Tokyo, Japan. It was not as successful as the Expo in Los Angeles. As a result, E3 events outside the U.S. have not been developed.

For the 25th anniversary of the founding of Blizzard Entertainment, an American video game developer and publisher, a statue was commissioned that would be placed on Calligraphy Greenwayin Taichung, Taiwan. The makers of the statue needed to find the right transportation and logistics company to transport this 14 foot, 4,000 lb. one-of-a-kind, bronze statue, safely to Taiwan. It is a statue of Lich King Arthas Menethil, one of the company’s most iconic characters.The statue was designed by the artists at Alliance Studio. This was a cargo that required specialized handling. It had to be safely shipped from the United States to Taiwan without being damaged. Pyramid Logistics engineered the specialized shipping containers and cargo restraints to ensure the safe delivery of this exceptional, high value asset. Pyramid Logistics was the right choice for this high value asset transportation. The Arthas statue is now on display in Taiwan.
Another recent project also involved the logistics and transportation of a high value asset. California Baptist University employed Pyramid Logistics to carefully pack, transport and deliver their new, “Mounted Lancer” sculpture, to be placed at the entrance of the CBU Events Center. The statue was created by artist Lance Jost, who has created other statues displayed on campus. His work can be seen on top of the bell tower, on the gym, and in Stamps Courtyard. Four class gifts and funds from the Associated Students made the commission of this statue possible.
This statue is a bronze sculpture of the CBU mascot, a lancer holding a shield, riding a charging horse. A lance was attached after the statue was mounted. The statue, which was two years in the making, weighs 4,000lbs. and is 15 feet high. The foundry that poured and made the statue, is in San Fernando, the University is in Riverside. This distance had to be covered, taking great care to deliver the statue in perfect condition. Pyramid Logistics secured and packed the statue for the safe ride to Riverside.
