hello fellow friends! i think it might already be obvious from my extended absence but i am officially pulling away from tumblr. the way that my life is right now and has been since the end of last year... not exactly conducive to maintaining any sort of internet presence  —  the fact that it took two whole months for me to even write up this single post should say it all.

that said: i do still write. not as frequently as i would like, mind, and not through tumblr but it will be a cold day in hell when i lose even an inch of my passion for roleplaying. my repertoire of characters has vastly been expanded and i’m working on a doc to detail all of them. diluc still, definitely, but there are a whole host of others as well. so in the mean time, i extend a hand to all those that would still be interested with writing with me  —  this time, as the trend goes, through discord!

my birthday goals have been met for this year:      got given a whole bunch of giftcards that i spent solely on games and manga,      played genshin,      then yelled my throat raw at karaoke for a straight four hours ^-^

Instigated violence created by the impish whisper and a murmur creating chaotic chain reaction. The screams fueled by alcohol, it reeked in the tavern from these two people. Her boredom led to creating something fun to watch, but no one knew where the whispers came from nor who started the whole thing. It was the usual thing, two men not seeing eye to eye and thinking they were insulting each other, resulting in this. Alcohol made every human uncontrollable, a creation of chaotic mess - disgusting, but so honest. So easily manipulated, but it was also bad for her to actually instigate it from the shadows. She did get involved as well, specifically with almost being hit as she hid under the table (it was important to remain the ‘weaker’ lady who was enjoying her time). 

Only when she could see the owner of the tavern - the famous winery owner - Diluc Ragnvindr step in to take control of the situation did she think of actually continuing that behavior. He handled it beautifully, she’d say. Golden eyes watched his moves with genuine appreciation and curiosity but only when the rowdy fighters were put to rest (knocked out?) did she looked up from under the table, glancing at the man who dealt with foolish troublemakers:

“Thank you for stopping them,” she begins with a small smile appearing on her face as she stood up, patting off the skirt. The pretty clothing spoke of her being of the richer kind, golden accessory of her earrings and her necklace that opened as she ducked down, showing a small photo of three siblings. Zarina quickly closed it when she noticed it being open. “Oh… My drink,” not only that but her purse along with her notebook were soaked in the spilled drink. Her eyebrow twitched, the work she put into the dialogue for the play was ruined completely. “What are you going to do with those men, if I may ask?” It was a perfect opportunity to speak to the man who had such a strong grip on Mondstadt’s economy. For the lost script and for the ruined purse, she’d say it was still better than anything!

“My work was ruined because of them, but they also broke a table and three chairs.” Sokolova explained why she asked the question, ‘believing’ herself to have a place to ask it.

between one boisterous moment and the next:               truly,      the picture perfect portrayal of  frivolous nature,      with such unparalleled ability to switch from a simple afternoon in the tavern to the   split - second eruption of a brawl.      it is not a rare phenomena that he bares witness to,      held by the pretense of wiping clean the counter and making small talk with another,      not be a long shot      —      human inhibition is such an easy thing to be stripped barren of,      all the more so when in the presence of shared drunken fervor,      lost of sense and etiquette   in equal measure.      and so he watches,      peripheral sight graced in slow motion,      as vulgar taunting carries the touch of thunder and   detonates into the first punch.

[      a weary thought,      to pull forth such disappointment:      ...it always leads to this.      ] 

❛❛      ...excuse me.      ❜❜                he extracts himself from active conversation with charmed ease,      exuding an untouchable aura   as he sweeps through the ensuing chaos.      it is not the first time he has had to deal with an alcohol - fueled spat,      tragically,      and it certainly won’t be his last.      as intended,      his intervention provides a convenient change in target for both parties.      a stray fist   is caught in his open palm,      clearly aiming for the young master but tragically off - trajectory,      and he makes quick work of incapacitating the assailants.      after all,      it is no secret   that he had once served the knights of favonius.      irregardless...      should i have held back somewhat?      he supposes the shattered furnishings   speak for themselves.

aftermath:      it takes no time for the tavern to return to the   bustling atmosphere   of before,      content to push the matter out of mind,      even as the matter in hand is being   dragged out the back exit   of the tavern to be handed to higher authority.      so he diverts attention to the new voice that speaks,      gaze dipped in sparked curiosity   at the unfamiliar face he sees,      lingering only a beat on the necklace.      his expression arranges itself just so,      the perfect degree of   cooled professional   and solemn disappointment.              ❛❛       they will be punished   as befitting   their crime.     ❜❜              an actor’s repertoire,      to deliver such lines   as if he sincerely believes them.      for surely,      in all of mondstadt,      or perhaps even all of teyvat,      there can exist no one else   who holds the knights in any lower esteem   than diluc himself.      a reflex of the tongue,      to add some biting remark or another,      but he is a businessman by heart:      he knows better   than to air his secrets without consequence.

a swift continuation of the conversation,      as he presses   a hand to his chest   and slightly dips his head.              ❛❛      i accept full responsibility on their behalf.      what would my lady ask for in compensation?      know that i will do   all in my power   to oblige.      ❜❜

i’m speaking it into existence now:      diluc's hair is   simultaneously untameable   but also has the   softest texture   to it.      whenever anyone gets the chance to touch it they are always   surprised by the contrast   between how it feels versus how it looks.      once when he was young he had attempted to straighten it out through sheer force,      but it ended up with him   burning his hair   and having to endure it being cut off for the first time in a long,      long time.      ever since then he has left it to nature’s course,      only occasionally   brushing through it when it gets particularly unmanageable.

Gold eyes raise, flickering / flitting to his face as only just now realizing just who it is —— Diluc.  Head tilts, body swaying, just a bit, in their seat.  Why are they surprised / they’re not, exactly, it’s just — / they remember to breathe.  Their eyes swim, far away, and his next words — you look troubled — parse a beat too late.

Language is hard.  She takes a sip of her juice to buy herself a second / a few /  and doesn’t taste it.  “I’m sorry.”  She isn’t, really, but that’s what you’re supposed to say, she thinks.  She can’t remember.  “I — I’m…mm.  Not sure why I’m…sad.”  She’s not even sure sad is the right word.  She’s not back yet; body, yes, but not heart / mind / soul.  But she’s not sure where the rest is.  It’s hard, to be this, never whole, always scattered pieces.  But —— “thank you.  You don’t…usually worry about me.”

Golden eyes have never laid upon a disastrous display of sweets that he could almost easily liken to the worst. A moment where he nearly lost his life, bloody and beaten after he had laid his enemy to waste- that very time where victory never tasted more bitter. Zhongli would spare Diluc no mercy as he’s been given full permission to be wholly honest with him. As he would, going so far as to seek out a fork- anything nearby, really- to take up a good, goopy forkful into his mouth. 

Fears would be confirmed in the obvious lack of harmony between ingredients, where dessert tasted far from what it intended to be. That alone would earn a pause- long and drawn out as eyes close. Inhale came shortly after whilst utensil was set aside. No answer yet. He couldn’t quite bear the thought of shattering what little hope Diluc had at making something decent. If it wasn’t him… it would certainly be someone else, so-,

“ If I had not known it was meant to be chocolate, I would have…. ” A weak shift, he’s finally tilted his head back to gaze upon the other’s countenance. Where hands come together and fingers lace with one another. “ Asked what it was. That said, I must pry about the recipe you used for this. ”

—   oh.              ❛❛      ...   i see.      ❜❜               to speak with such measured intonation:      a taste of idle interest,      as if diluc were simply making some general observation on the   cloudless weather   of late    and not   in response to the rather generous summation of the plated dessert.      could it still be called as such?      what exactly   had he exerted all this effort   for?         (      question in rhetoric:      he knows the reason far too well.      a reason that he will now carry to his early grave,      for all the   embarrassment that   it has brought him.      )

gentle utterance to the self:              ❛❛      something bought   will have to suffice.     ❜❜              a rough breath is then pulled through loose lips,      to be kissed by the trail of an exhale that sounds   deliberately rueful.      flame - wrought eyes seek shelter behind closed curtain in avoidance of the other’s gaze.      what did i expect?      the singular thought,      left behind by the ravages of   tempered disappointment   crashing in waves against the shores that had built up   such defensive shores.      he considers this:      well...      i did   ask   for it.      and sir zhongli,      as a person of genuine moral character and worthy of trust,      had only   delivered as demanded   of him.

diluc reaches for the abandoned plate,      clear in his intention   to remove the physical remnant of his failure.      he can only thank his own foresight at having chosen to do this   somewhere secluded   and void of other presences,      lest his shame be known   by more than one person.              ❛❛      adelinde swears by it so   the fault must lie solely with me.      i...      do not   have the talent necessary.      ❜❜
