i KNOW its been very soft and cheesy but i really wanted to try and steer the conversation to how similar they are in terms of how both L and Light remove themselves from having the opportunity for genuine connections, just in different ways - i think it also really helps with how they remain so certain in each of their "embodiment" of justice. it's much easier to "keep it simple" when you're not tangled up with the people around you, i guess... and its much much much easier to be a judge when you just get to observe but don't engage unless you have to.

another reason i really wanted to draw this out so much is because L is a little shit, and i felt like if he really wanted to bring up a vulnerable conversation, he'd be very selective about what questions he's willing to respond to and turn back towards Light and it would take Light getting really fed up with his evasion to actually finally talk. they're dumb. i needed more pages and space because they're dumb.

anyway i made the first page literally the week i got back into death note and i just really wanted to get it out of my system YAY

i also made a lil extra scribbly sketch because i needed Light to be more in denial about stuff but also just wanted to draw them being stupid

I don't know if I said this on here before, but I think that the most effective punishment that Light could have ever gotten was to win and just, rule the world. Because he would have gone absolutely fucking insane, this guy hates everyone he's around all the time and he gets so bored so incredibly easily. And the way he wanted to rule was from the Shadows. Do you want to know what that means? Middle men. Probably really insufferable brown-nosing Middle Men, and a lot of them. Light's victory as Kira, god of the new world and ruler of the Earth, would have been filled with emails, phone calls, and dealing with the most inane bureaucracy the world could possibly conceive cuz I just know there would have been someone in there that just wanted to fuck everything up for him and so they would send him the most egregiously stupid paperwork to have him fill out and I think it would have been the most miserable existence and it would have been everything he deserved. I could not think of a better way to make a man reflect on himself and repent than to give Light Yagami exactly what he wanted because I don't think this guy really understands what it would have been like to be in charge of humanity in all of its chaotic glory. All that plus no L to entertain him for the rest of his life? He'd be begging for death. I'm talking grey at 30, withering into a husk. Death was too easy on him. i love him dearly but he deserved to suffer with a greek mythology level of irony
