In this +1 hour long introduction video we get to know Bokeh. Bokeh is a Python tool that enables us to create interactive visualizations for the Web. Data analysis often comes hand in hand with visualization of our data. I prefer to start with descriptive stats, visualizations, and then inferential statistics. Bokeh seems like a nice tool to do the vizualization part. A must see.

Programming in Psychology Programming in Psychology writes about both psychology and programming. Specifically, when it comes to programming there are some methods showed such as Delta plots. Written by a cognitive scientist programmer who seems to be focusing on Python as his primarily language.

You can find reading lists, theory about anova, and other gems. However, so far its only about programming but no programming.

That was some of my favorite blogs on the stats and programming stuff related to cognitive science. What are your favorite python resources? I focus mainly on programming for the purpose of creating experiments and doing statistics. That is why these are cool; they are all cognitive/psychology/neuroscience related (my fav areas of research!)
Python coding resources
Hello,
This will be my first text post and I will keep my self preeetty short. I am a guy interested in programming. Basically, my interests are big data, data science, and analytics. I am also very interested in the human psychology and, thus, fits kinda nicely into the cognitive science category of people.
Preferably, I use Python programming language when doing my stuff. Why? Because it was a pretty simple language to learn and it fits my purposes. General-purpose language with the capabilities to do more stuff related to myc niche: cog sci!
That is why I got so glad when i stumble upon the blog “Python Data Analysis” via Google+. It seems to be a blog driven by a cognitive scientist with a focus on Python and data analysis!
I will return to that blog, or more specifically, to a specific blog post from that blog later but I will just add here that this is the first post in an attempt to list good resources for Pythonistas.
Ok. In the post I am going to summarize here the Python Data Analysis blog post, of interest, he discusses what useful areas Python can be used in cognitive science. He also go on and discusses some tools for creating experiments (e.g., cognitive neuroscience or psychology), the importance of having a good IDE, and he also touches upon some statistical packages that are available for Python. A ver useful blogpost I must say. I got to learn about packages such as PsychoPy which enables you to do Python coding for presenting visual stimuli, for instance. Also I learned about a package that can carry out repeated measures anova using Python. Really nice. I really think that it is a great blog to follow if you ar interested in Python data analysis, what tools you can use, and how to use these tools. I really recommend that you have a look at the blog and bookmark the Python-related posts. You can also find nice youtube videos and such to learn more!
