Bahariterra Islands Hoax: A Storytelling Tool Abused By Internet Trolls
Bahariterra was a fictional island nation made up for the purpose of telling stories, without making up stories about real people and communities. Teenagers, kids, and young adults on the internet from the Ethnic Qarsherskiyan community, Monique and Aaliyah, "Powerplant" Ali, Marcus White "Khan", Cartierre, Leigh, Jason "Shamsuddin" White, and Leila Yuliana "Fatemeh Zahra" Whitelow, Brennan "Sultan Ali" White, Georgios White, Zane, Xavier, "Myroslav" White, and Isabella Whitelow. Bahariterra was based off of the Jafari Shia Islamic eschatological folklore in regards to Imam Zaman On The Island Of Khidra in the Atlantic Ocean beyond the straights of Gibraltar. Bahariterra internet lore tells stories of a dictatorship ruled by brutal leader Kahlmad, which was vehemently tyrannical and believed in an iron-fist government with laws that oppressed his own people. Bahariterra became an inside joke for youth on the internet from the Qarsherskiyan community and a way to tell stories without making untrue stories about their own community, which is considered to be disrespectful since the Qarsherskiyan community's real history often relies on oral history. The main small social media influencers posting information and traditions from their Qarsherskiyan families, mostly teenagers at the time, used Bahariterra to to tell stories and teach moral lessons. Bahariterra ended in 2022 or 2023, with the last leaders giving up. Isabella had to get married to "some dude from Romania" and left to visit a Romani neighborhood in Moldova, Marcus left the USA, and Myroslav went to "trace my lineage to the king, which will effectively trace my ancestry back to Adam if you believe Irish folklore."
