I heard the pacing in one piece was bad but this is ridiculous
The funny thing is this is both better and worse than what actually happens in the unedited anime.
Narrator waxes poetic about what happened in the previous episode
one uninterrupted minute of lore
person does thing
Everyone in the scene gets a dedicated reaction shot
Narrator waxes poetic about it for five uninterrupted minutes
Episode ends
One Piece is such a hard sell as it is, because there's over 1000 episodes. Like I'm not going to sugarcoat, that's rough.
The One Pace edit cuts approximately 361 episodes out of the 1000 episode runtime of One Piece (the most recent set of arcs is still being edited down, so this is somewhat approximate all around).
That's...significant but it's still a damn hard sell.
The best way I can tell you to watch the series is not like it's one long series, but several medium-length ones instead.
Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, kind of like that. Consider each arc as a fully new series. This works more often than not, as each area has its own flavor.
Maybe in another post I'll describe each arc badly.
Regardless, One Piece is not about the destination, that is in fact one of the themes, and so if you try to watch it intending to "get through it" or "get to the good part" you're going to have a bad time.
One Piece, even at its worst, is still better than a lot of other anime at their best. There's a reason why it's Shonen Jump's golden goose.
My advice? Watch the live action. It cuts out about as much fat as can be cut from the first 30-50 episodes (I can't be assed to look up how many eps are in the East Blue Saga). If you like the characters, story, and general vibe of that, congratulations, you'll probably like the anime.
If you don't want to watch it, imo you'll figure out if you're on board for One Piece's particular brand of storytelling by about episode 5 (of one pace). If Chouchou's story doesn't move you, then probably don't.
From there, watch just the East Blue Saga, and then take a break. Watch your My Heroes Academias or your Jujutsus Kaisen. Then when there's a lull in the season, come back and watch the Alabasta Saga.

i think it's important you speak out against the concept of iq like you would phrenology do not let that pass by uncritically
especially if you have any kind of social leverage you should use it. if someone mentions iq offhandedly make sure they know.
tbh MBTI, too.
I recently saw a video that broke down reading comprehension by grade level (US), and it's one of those things that I can't stop seeing everywhere online?
The first thing to know: the average American, according to this video, has an 8th grade reading level.
Here's how the video broke those down:
At first, you sound out words, even if you don't know the meaning of them (some teenagers are still here).
At third, you can answer literal questions (who, what, where, when, how).
At sixth, you're starting to pick up on subtext, hints, foreshadowing. Things the writer implies, but doesn't explicitly say.
At ninth, you're understanding symbolism, metaphor, sarcasm, thinking about the motivation of the characters, and how perspective can change meaning.
At 12th, you're now going beyond the text into authorial intent. You can spot biased writing, and how different word choice can change the meaning of a statement.
At college level, you're thinking about the writing style, you can recognize manipulation, and are aware of your own biases, and considering how that might change the meaning of the text.
Still thinking about this. Tbh, it stopped me from engaging in discussions where the problem is bad reading comprehension.
To stretch an analogy, if someone is acting like they're convinced that "piss-poor" and "pissing on the poor" are synonymous phrases, they're either doing a bit, in which case arguing just lets them commit more, *or* they're willfully ignorant of what the phrase is. In which case nothing I say is ever going to convince them that I'm not pissing on the poor, because that's what they *want* to believe anyway.

Nono as we all know, we thank Dolly Parton for designing Women
Something that doesn't get mentioned often about the "humans are eldritch gods to bees" thing is that they can kill us. Specific old ones are weak to the venom that the workers have.
Hell there's a specific bee with the reputation of "kills people"
Which *looks up "killer bee"*
Oh. *looks at how the Africanized Killer Bee was created*
Oh no.
Is *this* what that spy kids quote was talking about?
Forget your Reylo fanfics and your Obikin slash
Mob wife Padmé Amidala.
She goes dark with her husband, and Obi-Wan steals the kids.
Hell, she could even have her own Project Necromancer to clone and bring back her husband
The possibilities of Badmé Evildala are *endless*
id tag game changer spoilers but what does that even mean at this point
yknow i posted this out of context to shock the pre existent dropout fans who hadnt seen the episode. i hadnt grappled with the idea that people who dont watch game changer at all would see this, which is probably gonna be my new favourite thing to see happen on my posts
My favorite thing is how this clip only makes marginally more sense in context. Like the last two seasons of Game Changer, it has this unhinged sort of absurdism that the series is becoming known for.
This has a certain energy to it, like I think this might be Lynch energy? Idk
thank you for your feedback. we regret to inform you that it has made us stronger
