First Love
9 December 2020
Not always as it may seem,
First Love tends to go unseen;
Cupid’s clever ways distract thee,
Eyes gaze set on fleeting things.
Passion aflame, I say indeed,
Tenderness lies within one’s cheek.
Look into my eyes as I do speak,
The Universe modest, but not meek.
So if it is said that we are Kings,
I pray I rise from the work of sheep.
Minor causes for whom they bleed;
True Love, is all my soul should need.
Eluded by those unwise, unkeen,
First Love appears ever so out of reach;
But, just as certain as men do breathe,
First Love is all it takes to be free.

Ocean’s Waves
The ocean’s heavy waves
Billow with much gleam;
They overtake me not,
As so many may think.
Dear breadth of experience,
Ever ye so blue and deep;
I wish too, to float away,
Navigating with such ease.
Desires of you I so ask;
Oh wise, heavenly stream;
If I abide by your laws,
What will you make of me?
The response attracted,
I sense brine on my cheek;
That day I learned to be,
Without needing to speak.

Humble Begininings
Humble beginnings is
A glorious place to start.
Forgoe the outcome,
And succumb to the art.
Sense not enslavement,
To that of the mind’s creation.
Instead, give to the allowing
Of your spirits integration.
Oh, the joy that arises
From ashes like Phoenix;
A mountain top plight,
Would fail to defeat it.
Soon the bells will ring
With exuberant pride.
For observer’s reach,
Has consumed the mind.

(Q The Disciple)
If you have ever overcome depression or anxiety, this song is for you! Let this be your quarantine pick me up. This jazzy, hip hop beat can lift you out of any low vibration. It’s all about self love and awareness. Blessings...
We work to live
Instead of
Living to work,
Stifling our inspiration.
Yes, paying bills
Becomes necessity
At some point
Or another.
I wonder about
The collective,
That negative energy
We deposit into
Our world’s
Consciousness.
If I am not following
My passions,
It seems I am
Doing more harm
Than good.
Maybe we need
A new translation
Of work.
Maybe we need
A New Earth.

Guidance
I lay sleepless but present
Trying to manifest my now
Abundance in all of its glory
Seems to be chasing me down
With little regret, I lose
My ego becomes unsettled
The power of letting go
Induces my hardware’s metal
As the moonlight shines bright
I find peace in its knowing
For, my intuition’s true peak
Becomes mighty and glowing.
How did this come to be?
I wonder in complete silence
Angels pay this question no mind
As they send me their guidance.
-Quinton Horne
Inheritance of Kin
I suppose of destiny’s ills
And an inheritance of kin,
I am among the chosen ilk
To those souls before men.
Some chose fear of the dead
With an intention to dwell;
Others have transcended
Our dimension’s crooked well.
That leaves no room for doubt
Of one’s purposeful intent then;
Cynicism may prevail now
If not present in this moment.
Thus, a new reverence birthed
For the wisdom of presence;
May it wield power on earth
As ancestors rejoice in heaven.
-Quinton Horne
Satisfaction
Why is it that
Satisfaction
Is the hardest
Thing to achieve?
I thought I had
A bit rationed
In this garden
Of purple leaves.
But it is fact,
My reaction
To my harvest
Was misconceived.
Now Fall is back.
A distraction,
As I started
To find my peace.

Does It Make Me Bad
Does it make me bad
Knowing my rough past
That I’d do you like that
Considering all we have
Does it make me bad
For taking a long nap
Dreaming of another ass
Leaving you alone & sad
Does it make me bad
That I get angry & mad
When I fucking stabbed
You deep, deep in the back
Does it make me bad
That the odds are stacked
Against me ‘cause I’m black
My demons tend to latch
All I truly wish you to ask
Is, does it make me bad
If I choose to leave fast
And never, ever, look back.

Do You Know Disappointment?
Do you know Disappointment?
No?
Well I have gotten to know
her very well.
She comes and goes in the middle of the night like a Cheshire cat
And she reminds me that
I am unfit.
That I am unworthy of the
characteristics I attribute to myself
out of blindness of ego.
I do not strive for better as I should
and my excuses cripple me.
I resent my parents, the result of their work; albeit the product of a
clandestine childhood.
You! You, my friend,
have no place in my shoes
For they are much to oversized.
To inquire into the mind of another is but a practice.
‘Tis not something that lies on the spectrum of certainty.
For man, forgoing God himself
and selecting the primitive nature
of free will,
Who could one trust?
Selectivity I suppose,
presents the illusion of choice
But
we are all merely the same.
What a travesty.
As we contradict ourselves
within our own sentences, make note
that without a doubt,
our futures are intertwined.
I shall see you on the
other side,
Disappointment.

NEW ✨ ‘EVOLVE’ out now!
If you’re a fan of my poetry you will love the vibrations of this beautiful song. Enjoy!
In A Dream
Immediately when you leave
It hurts the most;
I always perceive it as
My fear of the unknown.
I start to think of the unseen,
And of what’s gone;
I don’t know where I’d be
Without your bones.
Your structure and jive
Make me feel so alive,
That I can’t sleep at night
Without your love.
I take it as a dream,
But I know you’re real;
So when I’m wide awake,
I’d rather my eye lids be sealed.
Because at least in a dream
The pain of loss subsides,
And you’re smile comes to mind;
In a dream you’d always be by my side.
-Quinton Horne
God Manifesting
Sun pedals fall like rain
Adorning my skin
Washing my pain away
Forgiving my sins
I never could have known
Anything more sweet
The power of praise
Intuition’s true peak
So I challenged things
Or so they may seem
Abstracting means
By which to be
Oh the chills received
A calm came over he
Bearing fruit of mind
God manifesting.
Within me.
-Quinton Horne
Please Show Me
Please show me a sign on life
So that I may have hope for tonight
So that I may wake with joy
Feeling warmth and delight
Please show me my ways
So that I may seek worldly change
So that I may put aside my pain
Letting go of earthly things
Please show me your true colors
So that I may call you a brother
So that I may steer toward truth
Exposing that which is other
Please show me a sign of life
So that I may hold you near & tight
So that I may navigate darkness
Holding your everlasting light.
