Being close to Keket was a job she knew she had been specifically tailored to do, and that’s the sole reason she was any good at it. No aspect of it came naturally, and it would be impossible for someone to jump in feet first and expect to be able to handle everything the position truly entailed. While it wasn’t all fun and games, it definitely had it’s perks. She knew things most didn’t, she had access to places and information that was considered classified. She got away with certain things, usually getting off the hook with a look towards anyone who asked the wrong questions. Z had to use that skill to get into Kai’s room, but it was only a second worth of work, and it was entirely worth their reaction as the two of them reached downtown Tuscany. She had realized that she hadn’t seen them since coming to the estate, and that was something that had to be remedied. She thought of them every now and then, not in pity… something closer to empathy. She knew what it was to live a life not entirely your own. And on the matter of Keket’s official permission… it hadn’t played a big part in this outing… or any, not that anyone at all knew so.
There was a nod of her head in agreement, “Yes, wine. There is a nice little bistro a few blocks up. Wonderful sandwiches, and vintage wine. I think you’ll enjoy yourself.” She paused, her teeth coming down on her tongue in a small smile, and an almost laugh at their words. “The ‘no offense’ was unnecessary. It’s awful and even they know it, they just don’t care. It’s cheap and it ‘does the job’, as some say…” Z eyed Kai for a moment, not entirely agreeing with the sentiment, but understanding what they meant. “Well you are welcome to have as many as you like. We don’t have to walk back if we don’t want to. As far as all of that goes… I believe it could have been worse. Which doesn’t make the stress of the events less valid, I just think its a fact that shouldn’t be overlooked.”
Kai found themself licking their lips, “Vintage? Count me in.” They hadn’t had anything that wasn’t a few years old since their last Montreal cellar raid. Which was a few months ago. A few long months ago. Still, Kai had thought the lycans would of shelled out more for the birthday of their heir. Even more so because it was an engagement announcement. “I guess I feel bad for the heir, Sebastian, I think. Had to have shitty wine on his birthday.” Well that and other things, mostly the fact he didn’t even show up for the announcement part. Not that Kai could say anything, if they found out they were going to be engaged, they’d take off too. “Is Margaret actually getting like... married, married to this lycan?” he blurted out, still surprised by the whole ordeal. “Like with sex, sex taking place?” Mostly they’d been upset Keket even allowed it, had mentioned any other sort of information to the soon-to-be couple. Kai wanted more hybrids, sure, mostly because of their own loneliness, but hybrids were also dangerous.
The sound of their footsteps on cobblestone almost drowned out their words. “You don’t have to tell me. If she told you anything about it.” Their gaze moved towards Z, face softening slightly. “I just... I dunno. I wonder if the lycans know what happen when the two have kids. I don’t want them to end up...” Kai almost said ‘like my parents’, but stopped short at it. Their parents loved each other and probably knew what would happen. Kai didn’t know if anyone else did. “Whatever. That whole evening was crazy. Like, lycans are crazy. I can’t believe they killed someone on stage. They looked so nice and professional and everything.” Kai would have probably hit up the assistant afterword, since they were totally their type, before they were subjected to a goddamn homicide as dessert. “Worse? I guess I could see that. Everything can go worse, to like, a certain degree.”
