That I have to correct you by saying he’s actually an almost 40 year old man won’t make this easier.I planned to make him at most 20, but wanted an excuse to why he’s nowhere to be seen in the first movie and didn’t approach Melody until she was the late-yet-early age of 17.Mermaids in general are said to live for a very long time, and while Disney has stated little about their octopid race, I imagine these less human-like creatures to live and age even slower. In short, the way Orson moves and presents himself is like that of someone in his early 20s, and if we accept that from vampires in fiction, then why not this freak.I can’t disagree with you that it’s creepy, but it’s equally weird to see Ariel’s father allowing his 16 year old daughter to marry some man she’s only known for three days. I originally thought Eric was between the age of 20 and 30, but Disney cleverly claimed off-screen he was 18. Alright then. Still an adult, though.All in all, I took the movie’s time period into consideration and decided to go with it.

Thank you so much for answering my previous questions Silver! Do you have any favorite animated: 2D &/or 3D designs for either Erlang/Yang Jian or Nezha? Also do you know anyone who can comment on either of their recognizable iconography?

2003 Erlang Shen from the Nezha series and 1999 Erlang Shen from Journey to the West are probably my favorites. I wish they made him blue more often, and I think that's a really cool look for him! I will say that I am a big fan of his Yang Jian movie look as he does look very swave!

And I really like 1999 Nezha design as my favorite, definitely. I haven't really found another design that I really love since even if there is a lot of good ones like LMK or 2003. Perhaps that is just me being baised but it is true!

He reminds me so much of Mowgli from Jungle Book, he is just so charming with the lotus pinks and hair buns but also the gold bracelets and arm bands.

I can't say I know what you mean by "recognizable iconography" but maybe @ryin-silverfish would be able to offer more insights as they are very familiar with each character's background in FSYY
