This is how people in Venice spent their time on Sunday. There are no more big crouise since february. It means that the Giudecca's Canal is quiet. I've tried to listen to the people fishing, some should be originary from Bangladesh. I like this new form or sunday freetime in Venice. Normally the street is full of tourists.

In this period we live every day as it was the last day before the lockdown. We walk out to the sun, we ride the bicycle for kilometers, we watch the nature as most we can contemplate and try to interpret her hidden message. This winter will be hard and lives have already started to fight to survive. This happened today during the backstage of a video I'm turning for a commissioned work. Nature is omnipresent and walks on an Italian flag.

In this period with the last day of beautiful light, we live everyday Venice enjoying it as the last day before the lockdown, so we are more sportive than normal. Our Region for DPCM is yellow, we can move, while my friends in Milan, in Turin or in Genoa, and Sicily, and Apulia can't go out from their region or can't go walk in the street just for pleasure or for enjoying the weather. Here in Venice, we are lucky. Today I went with a couple of friends of mine to Lido, we rented the bikes, and we rode go and back to Pellestrina for 35 km. We had a beautiful launch with fresh fish and our eyes stored hours of images of beautiful skies and water, both sea and Laguna.

When I chose to come back to my city I was thinking that to live in Venice could be boring compared to London. But I forgot that in Venice we wont to be the best. Beyond the sfiga "bad luck". After a super crowded weekend full of people coming from everywhere, with and without masks. When the city of Venice didn't organise anything, transport, museums, control in the street, because Venetians are Invisibles, don't exist, we have finally our high tide! Enjoy Vernice! How much I miss my boring London!

Baffo 4.0 New forms of poetic and erotic expression. Since the end of the lockdown, Venice is slightly going back to normality. The worst normality. I forgot the number of drunk people. Everyone wants to do a party, to drink and to meet friends. The less wine had in the last 3 months has been recovered in a weekend. I had even recorded people throwing up but probably it's better to avoid. I'm trying to go out and I hope to be able to walk in the street as it seems it's full of tourists that want to watch the empty Venice.

Everyone wants to enjoy an empty Venice!
The bridge that connects Venice to the mainland has been locked because the parking spaces in Venice were over. The flux of tourism, most from the Region, but with many others from aboard, hasn’t been controlled. No misure has been taken to help the tourists and the locals. The first invasion.

Beyond Giudecca. I’ve been invited to work on a project about Venice. I will try to be the gaze and the voice of an untold Venice and I will work on unseen visions of my city, ancient and contemporary Venice, archives, nature, sounds, water, fishes, birds, underwater, respect of the biodiversity of Venice and its lagoon. This is why on that boat, a special boat. Let’s discover step by step and let’s see what is going on... I can’t show any image, everything has to be imagined.

THE NON SILENCE, what I miss

I WANT TO BREAK FREE FROM ANY SOCIAL CONTROL, KEEPING THE SOCIAL DISTANCE FROM PEOPLE I DON’T KNOW OR I DISLIKE
Gymnastic preparatory, respecting the social distance, ready for the end of the lockdown. I did this video in one night last summer for a competition about the dictatorship, and I found it actual, and I don’t feel it a good sign.
Strange, in this period Italians re-learned again to stand in the queue, to keep the lines, to calculate the social distance in cm. The fear of being infected converts each person to a controller rather than to encourage solidarity. In the streets of Italy, people are divided into two categories, those completely disciplined, which follow all the dictates slavishly and the subversive ones who, as soon as they can, stay in a group and do not wear protection. The judgment is strong and often even a smile is taken for derision, ridicule; tensions that result in easy screams and calls. The lockdown is almost over, now you can move freely within the whole region without self-certification, without motivation. Moving between Regions is only possible if motivated by work or by a health emergency.

Venice today, Sunday tourists. Why haven't Gucci or D&G launched the backpack in front yet? I have always felt a lot of curiosity for what is in the backpacks of tourists, so precious to keep it in front. If even one had a million and so brings it right in the eye. At most a bottle of water and a hat ... In theory, only those from the municipality of Venice could come and from tomorrow from the Veneto Region, from June from the other Regions and from everywhere. The first tourists were seen a few weeks ago ... Of course, the movement is very little. The beauty is that today there is no bathroom open in the whole city :) the bars open from tomorrow.
