But this book has been extremely personal and near and dear to my heart. “If I Should Die Before I Wake” is a novel about the climb of my life. I’m guessing no different than most girls growing up in a single parent home. But it’s my story. My journey. My narrative. My lens. My point of view. From teen pregnancy, middle school crushes, shot gun weddings, divorce, sexual abuse, family secrets that keep us sick, the Baptist church, raising children, dating, platonic friendships, sisterhood of women, evolving and legacy.
