Get Out

Ok so, this film has stirred soo much interesting conversations around me. So let me start this blog by giving a round of applause to Jordan Peele the writer and Director. I love this film from start to finish and the representation through out is 10/10.

 A great handful of people believe this film is racist to either black or white people; and I can see why. The whole “don’t date a white woman” interpretation … yeah I get it but I don’t agree or the slavery resemblance making it racist against black people … meh just not my thinking. What is my thinking you ask? Well …

 I think he (Jordan Peele) has put a timeline on the black people’s journey. The “slavery” scenes were all greyed out like it was that era, and the clothes that the people of color were wearing were very washed out; brown/grey.  I took that as a snap shot of that time and period. The good old 1800, where black history apparently starts and finishes.

 The “sunken place” is a place we all live in!! How much do you really love your job? Or are you just in the “sunken place” playing nice? But back to the film it resembles basically holding whom you really are back, to fit in. That male friend that he knew from years back - in the hat that sounded and acted “different” aka the coon/coconut. Yes him, don’t be that guy, stick to your roots of who you are, just don’t be fake.

 The sizing of Chris when he was meeting Rosie’s family resembled the Black Market. This is basically the theft of black peoples organs that yes sadly still happens today. There was an American man (not sure if he was a slave owner) that was known as “wooden teeth” because he was always taking teeth out of black slaves and putting them into his mouth, as his teeth were bad. There were also black woman who used to breast feed the slave owners white children, as therer was a notion that black milk was “better”. Ok I’ve fallen off topic but I believe that this is was the sizing up and the operation scenes resembles. The whole mind set/notion/theory of black peoples body’s being “superior” so things got … taken to be used.

 There are lot of little things done in this film to show how well thought out it is even the police officer trying to take Chris’ ID even though Rosie was driving. All in all this film to me is literally showing all the things black people have and are going though.  If this film was done with a Chinese woman and an Indian man it would not have caused the stir it has as there is plenty conversation about black and white relationship mix.

 To me - love who you want to love but don’t forget who you are and where you and your people have come from!! Avoid the sunken place. Basically don’t do a Serena Williams and talk bad of your people as your now dating out your race to a race that was dissing you up… I really hope that back fires on her.

 P.S the writer is married to a white woman. The woman that is Brooklyn Nine Night; Gina is his wife. I really don’t think he has written this to warn black people off dating white people. But hey it’s my opinion.

The presidential system

“OMG! I can’t believe he won!”

 Ok, lets start this thinking logically; who would you of realistically preferred to win? Hillary Clinton, the money hungry liar? Or this racist and sexist man; Donald Trump?

 I personally think either one of them winning would have been a mess to America’s development. With Trump you semi know where you stand and what to expect. I think you have to take the election build with a pinch of himalayan salt. I also think love and unity is vital for America right now but still a pinch of himalayan salt.

 America has worked so hard with their Obama campaign of “yes we can” obviously aiming at the African Americans that are still being oppressed; to say we are not racist anymore. To then have Trump come and just moonwalk all over this smoked mirror and smashed it to reveal the bitter truth. America is still extremely racist and sexist.

 Who is Donald Trump?

 Mr Trump was born and raised in Queens, New York which is a very mixed area in regards to race. This is why I struggle to believe that he is actually as racist as the media makes him out to be. As I am always reminded, we are shown what the mystery “they” want us to see. When he has been question about his father and his fathers involvement with the KKK. He avoids answering the question and acts confused of the question and plays like he isn’t sure what white supremacy is. So I’m not too sure about his level of racist-ness.

 How did he make his millions?

 He is a businessman; his first business was in residential real estate business. To cut it short he is a sales man … typical sales man. Sales men tend to say or do whatever is needed to, to get the job done. With this in mind I don’t know how much of his speech and act we can take on board.

 He has previously stated that if he was to run for president he would run as a Republican as “they are the dumbest group of voters in the country”. Looks like he has tested his theory and proven it correct.

 I think that he has just played the game and played it well. But hey if I’m wrong presidents don’t really stick to their word before they gain the seat. So let’s just see what happens.

 Let’s be honest, what can a president actually do in a world … correction system that doesn’t want to be changed?

Sex Sales

 Sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex ok I got it out of my system SEX ok, I have now.

 Sex used to be whispered in the deepest darkest corners or even avoided.  A lady wouldn’t speak of her sex game at all. I guess there is still a small handful of woman that are still like this but they are the minority.

 Now, sex is shouted from the tallest buildings and displayed in everyway possible. It crazy to me that I turn on the TV and sex is selling perfume. Like I honestly believed, perfume was to make you smell nice. But now it’s to get sexual attention. So if your sexless, I can assume you smell bad? But what if you smell nice and don’t have sex in your life? What else could you be lacking that the media is telling us?

 As the media has seeped its way into every aspect of our day, this selling topic is everywhere! TV programs; even when the sex is irrelevant to the story line, music; we have ventured from “I’ll make love to you” and vulnerability to drawing “gash” by the hour, advertisements of non sexual products being displayed in sexual ways. I could go on, but I’m sure we can all agree sex is everywhere right? And even gay sex has found its way on our screens recently, but we shall talk about that another time.

 The affect this has on us is shaping the male and female perspective of sex and love. Yes it is all related, shocker!! For both genders it is now putting a lot of pressure on imagery. I’m not complaining about having, a well-trimmed or dread headed, well toned body and sweet smelling man. It is a huge box ticker. But! and a big but at that, I’m not too sure about having a man that’s better groomed than me. There are levels to it and every woman is different on this preference! That’s just me. With women, we come in many different shapes and sizes and the pressure is to have the shape of the most attractive woman. This tends to be big bums or boobies or both. Having the best imagery gets you sex. Just ticking the medias selling points. “Your bum would look amazing in these New look jeans” and so forth the sale is completed.

 On love, well I blame Disney. They have painted it to be the easiest thing in life. This falling in love at first sight then getting married soon after. The male makes advances to the woman first blah blah, not in this day and age. This is what the majority of women expect this Disney/movie love.

 Maybe I’m too much of an analyst but the perceptions that have been built up by these channels don’t meet the reality and I personally think that where some of the hiccups come from.

 Me? I’m just confused as to why sex hasn’t been used to sell baby products or to even to have a baby yet. We defiantly need this media looked at and to change their selling point. They are just messing up the perceptions.

All lives Mattters!?!?!

With the recent killings over in America the trend of “Blacks lives matters” has entered every social media app. It has caused such a huge stir in America and the UK.

It has been made clear to me that not all have been educated on Black History and fault of this is the education system. I will sum up the extremely important skipped events of history that has encouraged this trend.

I am sure we all know about slavery and I will not be highlighting this event but the events that are skipped from the time slavery was happening. A large amount of slaves were inventors. They were inventors of a large list of products which made their lives easier such as the washing machine ect. These inventions were then the slave owner’s product and patented under the slave owner’s name therefore, no recognition given to the inventor/slave. (Please google Black inventors to see what else was invented that we still use today)

The people who were fighting against the oppression of being a Black Human were Malcolm X and Martin Luther King. I am sure you are aware of how they died, but did you know the American government was convicted for both deaths. Please realise this was not that long ago, my grandfather was alive during this time and I’m sure yours was too.

When slavery was abolished large amounts of money was given to the slave owners and not the slaves. I’m not saying the lyncings and rapings and more would be forgiven but at least these people would have been able to set a foundation to live with this revenue. The majority of people who received this payout set up businesses that are functioning today and are worth billions. The Black Panthers was an establishment that supported black people. They did free breakfast for children promoted black beauty and more (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/27-important-facts-everyone-should-know-about-the-black-panthers_us_56c4d853e4b08ffac1276462) they were also known for strategic boycotts. My personal favorite was to not use the public transport for around a month. This had people of ALL colours walking for miles. Still getting to work on time and walking home (hitting the pocket to gain a result). Many of their tactics worked. The children of the Black Panthers are still alive today! This also means the children of the KKK are still alive!!.

Today, Black people are able to reap the rewards of their inventions and set a foundation through further work. We are able to be educated and more, however walking freely is not something of leisure in the UK or America. We have brothers and sisters being killed for minor issues as if to say our lives have no value. This is proven to be incorrect as we have had to be largely purchased and our freedom was an even bigger purchase. Black inventions are still being used today maybe with a few tweeks but they are still being used.  And this is why this trend has triggered. It seems that everything Black people have to offer is valued so highly but the Black people are not. This is my first confusion to the muzzling of Black lives matters to all lives matters.

My second is to the people who love Black culture, music and more but yet have not spoken out against these unruly killings of these people. Black people seemed to have more support from all races when speaking out had your life at risk. My Final and main confusion is that for some reason these killers have not been convicted yet or ever will, and the media are free to show these killings so open and freely. I understand not all of the 559 people that have been killed in police custody have been Black individuals however the vast majority have been Black people, and they have been oppressed for a very long time despite the value added to countries. 

This situation has me proud to be a British Citizen as when Mark Duggan was killed, we all united and America needs to do the same. These killings of people of colour need to stop. There is no adequate reason for these people to be killed other than melanin. I’m secretly waiting for vegetarians to start the trend of Animals lives matters!!

Cracked Foundation(s)

Your mum and dad are MARRIED???

At university it was made aware to me that my parents being married was quite rare. I was asked many questions about their relationship not realizing it was a huge issue for many.

My reality and upbringing was having both parents married and within my parents friendship groups it was also the same. I guess now is the best time to say thank you to all the fathers that got married and the fathers who stayed in their children’s lives.

To the individuals with, what I call a crack in the foundation; be it their mother, father or even both who are not present in their lives, your absent parent(s) has their own battles that they are dealing with. This hasn't got anything to do with you. In my assumption, the sad thing about this is that these people tend to not know unconditional love, which is a core characteristic in a relationship where both parents love eachother. This also applies to children of parents that are not together, but both are still in contact with their child. This is just one of the many things affecting our society today.

Being able to watch a married couple who love one another has shown me the things I want and don’t want in my relationship, and not all have been able to watch a marriage first hand like I have. I personally think this can cause a ‘situationship’ (mentioned in my previous blog).

This crack can be filled. I should also mention I personally think we cannot always blame the past but it does have a huge part to play in today’s cracked foundations.

We need more healers, people who are willing to take the time and effort to break down the walls of a broken foundation and help rebuild them with love, honesty and security. The person with a cracked foundation also needs to be willing to change. 

I honestly think time heals all and a good chunk of me time to reflect on life is necessary for all. But hey, no one’s reality is perfect. Us humans cannot be pleased.

The changing Love

What is love? How to find love?

  These are two questions I hear so many times in 2016, and I just don’t have the answer. I look to my parents for this answer as they have been married for over 26 years. I wish I could find that kind of organic and pure love.

My parents are 60’s babies and in their time, love was, “love at first sight”. Meeting at the phone box to have a conversation with their love. The male would speak to the female’s parents to gain permission to date her, and sibling(s) blessings too. Songs like “I’ll be there”, “My Girl” and “I just called to say I love you” was the norm. I honestly think I was born in the wrong era; this is how I’d dream it would happen for me, but we all know that chances of that happening are slim.

I am just going to go ahead and assume the 80’s was the same. In the 90’s we had the lovely Joe with “Don’t wanna be a player” and Jagged Edge with “Promise”. Love was still pure, the man was committed to the female he wanted, and she was very lady like and it just seemed to work. I am an 90’s baby but I was raised in the 00’s and this is when it gets a little messy.

We have made a miraculous transformation from the lovely Joe and Steve Wonder too … “ I’m on this lipsing ting” and phrases such as “Mash and Dash” and my personal favorite “Situationships” which is a situation in many forms (he or she is already in a relationship, he or she has just come out of a relationship and isn’t ready to get serious) this list goes on, and its also a relationship as it just works. There has also been an introduction of dating applications to find that love.

I have personally seen the apps work for one friend however, I think I am very old fashioned and think finding love this way is very odd. I also think he was extremely lucky. Yes I am on these applications just doubt I’ll see a selfie and description and fall head over heels in love. I do have a good perv though ;).
