Promiscuity, intensity, delicacy, and vulnerability: these are four things that 23-year-old Singapore-born, London-based photographer and, now, book publisher, Elizabeth Gabrielle Lee expects that you will see when viewing XING – her latest project.

“Xing” in Mandarin means “sex,” “sexuality,” “to wake up,” “to grow aware,” and/or “essence” of a person, to Lee it represents “othering.” The photo book features the work of ten international photographers combined with essays about racism and stereotyping, as well as sexual and emotional harassment. It’s always really nice seeing pictures of older trans people, because quite often on here it’s the transitioning teenagers, and it’s scary because it makes it feel like we don’t have a future
