Lyra & Rickon
He wasn’t sure about any of the names Lyra just suggested. It was sweet she wanted to name their son after his father or one of his brothers, but he wanted something different. ”What about Rickard for when it is a boy? It was my grandfathers name and it sounds a lot like mine. Yet, I see something of your name in it as well.” Rickon shrugged his shoulders, which made him clench his teeth. For a moment he had forgotten about the wound. Rickon nodded when Lyra suggested the name Dacey for when their baby is to be a girl. Secretly he hoped their child will be a boy. A son simply sounded more likable than a daughter. He could teach his son how the handle a sword, how to hunt and how to shoot a bow and arrow. Of course, he could teach his daughter all this as well, but she also had to learn how to behave like a lady. A soft sigh escaped his lips. ”Not Catelyn.” Rickon shook his head a little. He hardly had any memories of his mother, it would be strange for him to name his child after his mother who he barely knew. ”When our baby is a girl, she will be named Dacey.” A small smile curled up around his lips as he pressed a soft kiss onto his wife’s forehead.
Lyra nodded slightly as she listened to what Rickon said. She thought Rickard was a strong Stark name and felt it would be fitting for their baby. A slight frown formed on her lips when she noticed his teeth clench but she was happy with him nonetheless. She did not want to break the moment. “Then we shall name our son Rickard.”
When he rejected Catelyn, Lyra worried that she had overstepped her bounds by suggesting that. In truth she hoped for a boy, knowing a king needed an heir, but she wanted a daughter as well. His ready acceptance of the name Dacey brought a smile to her lips. She wanted to remember her sister. She had always been so close to her sister. Lyra’s hand smoothed over her belly as she sighed happily. “Little Rickard or little Dacey, I like that. I cannot wait for the babe to come.”
Lyra rested against him and smiled as the child squirmed in her growing belly. “I think the babe likes the names too,” she chuckled.
