Whether it be for a one night only AU, a seasonal 1x1, or a group roleplay, feel free to use any of these. Some are dark, some are spooky, and some are simply for fun. Enjoy!
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Just as in the novel, your muse possesses a portrait that chronicles all their nefarious behavior while their bodies remain unblemished and ageless.
Gotcha - A group of friends play Ghosts in the Graveyard in an actual graveyard. While in the dark, your character’s shoulder is gripped from behind and they immediately assume the role of “ghost” in the game. They run into the friend who was “it” and learn that person never tagged them.
Hansel & Gretel - Two characters follow a trail of Halloween candy, assuming some trick-or-treater must have a hole in their bag, but it leads inside a house no one has been known to inhabit for decades.
Well, isn’t that bloody typical? - A character who is actually a vampire goes around town entering various costume contests, hoping to win a little extra cash, and is offended when people with clearly fake fangs and stereotypical costumes win instead.
The truth will out - Your muse’s reflection starts revealing their true thoughts and feelings in public (i.e. your character avoids looking at their crush but the reflection stares; they smile politely at their rival but the reflection rolls its eyes or cracks its knuckles menacingly; they pretend to be interested in what a person is saying but their reflection falls asleep).
Tricks are a treat - A couple of usually friendly ghosts decide to have a bit of Halloween fun. They find teens using a Ouija board and make it spell increasingly melodramatic or menacing messages, grateful that the mortals can’t hear how hard they are laughing as they do so.
Frankenstein - Your muse lost the love of their life in a tragic accident. Unable to let go, they toiled for months on end as they searched for a way to bring life back into their eyes. Two years later, they have a breakthrough. However, what they failed to account for was that, while they could reanimate the body, what they could not bring back was the soul.
Be careful what you wish for - Your muse throws a coin into the fountain at the mall and wishes for their ideal partner, giving a very detail-specific list of traits. When the clock strikes midnight that same night, there is a knock at the door. They open it and come face-to-face with someone who matches their description to the letter. Just one problem: their dream date has been dead for fifty years.
A burning question - Your muse invites the person they like over to carve pumpkins. They agree to meet on your character’s front porch. Your muse has set one aside for the other person, but their crush arrives to find your character surrounded by SEVEN pumpkins, all turned away where they cannot be read. The crush asks what they could possibly need with seven pumpkins, but your muse’s answers are vague. When their crush finishes their pumpkin, it’s finally time to put a candle inside each one. They light the wicks and then your muse turns their cluster of pumpkins around to spell: Will You Go Out With Me ?
The Caller (in honor of my mascot) - Your muse begins receiving calls from the past. Believing that much alone took convincing, but things take a harrowing turn when the conversations become threats and people start going missing. There’s a chance this phantasmic messenger is not long gone after all, but waiting in the shadows for their chance to strike the fatal blow.
A walk in someone else’s shoes - Several characters are in search of unique costumes and decide to sift through some old boxes in the attic. They select their attire and go to the party as planned, but the spirits of those who wore the garments years ago take over and people begin noticing bizarre differences in their personalities.
Freaky Friday - Your muse wakes in a body that is not their own, wearing clothes that are covered in blood. Where is their original body? Whose are they inhabiting now? What has this person done, and will your muse be the one to pay the price?
Hocus Pocus - Your muse is one of three witches resurrected by a virgin lighting the Black Flame Candle. If they do not wish to be dust by sunrise, they will have to hunt down enough sources of vitality to preserve their temporary youth and beauty.
