Today (5/2/2026 at time of recording) is Ripley's birthday! It's also free comic book day for this year so we plan accordingly!
Claudia was sequestered in the kitchen as she put the finishing touches on Ripley’s birthday cake. She had managed to find someone who created a comic book cover for her that featured Ripley as a superhero, and then it was simply a matter of getting it printed onto edible paper and transferred onto the cake. The finishing touch was candles that were Spider-Man themed. She closed the box and set it aside before washing up and using a portal to head to the bedroom, exiting shortly dressed in her Spider-Gwen cosplay, complete with web shooters that would fire silly string. “I was told that there’s a birthday dude.”
"Yeah they are," Tyson smiled. "Maybe it may warm a heart set in their ways?"
Ripley knew what their dad was saying, and they couldn't stay upset holding their baby sister. "Okay, fine, but don't do it in front of me please." They were still at that age where kissing was gross.
Claudia nodded. “That can easily be arranged, especially for the birthday dude.” She had to stifle a laugh when Ash grabbed a fistful of Rip’s hair. “Okay, so, unless you want her to try to pull your hair out you’re going to want to distract her.”
Ripley was thankful they wore their hair short, so when their sister grasped it within her ravioli sized fists (Dad's words, not Ripley's), it didn't hurt as much. Still Rip didn't want a bald spot at their age.
"Hey, look what I got," Rip said to Ash, thwipping from the plush basket hanging from a hook on the back of the closet door a Miles Spider Man plush. "You're gonna have to hang onto Miles with both hands, so he doesn't slip away." Tyson smirked as he watched Ripley negotiate the safety of their hair. "Did you teach him that?" he asked.
Ash let out a squeal and latched onto the plushie, leaving her sibling with all of their hair as she hugged it like it was her new best friend. Claudia took another picture, shrugging at the question. “They might have seen me doing that the other day with Ash’s Charmander plushie, though I was pretty sure they were out in the yard with Butterbeer at the time.”
"Kids will pick up on things when you don't realize it," he said. "Looks like we taught our kid a useful negotiation tactic there. Well then, shall we head out to the store? The line may be long and we're going to need to get to the park soon after for that PoGo event."
"I sure do have a lot of awesome things happening on my birthday," Ripley remarked, Tyson gently patting their head as to not agitate a scalp that may be sore from the baby grasp.
"Ain't that the truth?"
Claudia grinned behind her mask before grabbing her backpack which matched perfectly with her costume. “The comics should be good this year, but then they usually are. By the way, I have snacks and water in here along with anything Ash might need, and I happen to know that there are some amazing Pokémon at the park.”

Ripley, who'd be turning five this year, was already attired in their special costume that dad helped make. It was a replication of the drawing Ripley made for their spider-sona. They giggled excitedly as he saw his mom dressed as Spider-Gwen.
"It's me! Me is the birthday dude!" they were practically dancing with how amazing the birthday already was, his aunt Danielle making Ripley and Ash pancakes with spider web printing on the tops. The decorations for the party were themed for Spider-Man. "You look great mama!"
"Hey, how about us?" Tyson asked, coming from a room dressed in a pink bathrobe with baby Ash in the baby carrier on his chest, wearing the spider man knit cap. He flashed the Spider-Man web thwip hands with a big smile on his face.
Ripley's smile faded as they looked between Tyson and Claudia. "You two can't smooch today," Ripley deadpanned.
"Dude, really?" Tyson asked, almost whining. "C'mon I didn't feel comfortable wearing Miles's costume. Plus with Ash as Mayday I couldn't pass up the opportunity."
If Claudia hadn’t been wearing a mask, everyone would have seen her rolling her eyes at Ripley’s comment. “Well, the other option for a cool costume would have been for me to dress up as Black Cat, but she’s not a very good role model, or good for Peter. It’s still worth it, though, since I’ve been wanting to wear this costume for years.” She gave Tyson a hug before moving the mask out of the way momentarily so she could kiss Ash on the forehead, getting a sudden vision of her child dressed up as the same character, snapping out of it when she felt the toddler pulling on the mask. “I think Ash is already a fan of Ghost Spider. So, are we ready to go to the comic book store? There are supposed to be some good comics available today, but then again I’ve never been disappointed by free comic book day before. Well, aside from not being able to smooch my husband anyway.”
"Well I think you look amazing, honey," Tyson said, Ripley cringing at the lovey dovey words from their dad. "Come on, I can't even show my wife love in the verbal sense?"
Ash wiggled and giggled from the kiss, tugging at her mask so she could see her mama's face. "That's a no no," Tyson playfully chided, pulling Ash out of the harness and holding her out to her sibling. "I really feel that you giving this magical baby a chest to chest hug will really change our vibe."
Ripley looked skeptically to their dad, then back at their sister, who was reaching out for them. "I am not made of stone," Ripley sighed, hugging Ash to their chest.
“You look pretty great yourself. Then again, you’ve always been a superhero in my eyes, with or without a costume.” Claudia couldn’t help but smile at the interaction between Ripley and Ash, especially when the younger one looked her sibling in the eyes. “Rip!” The proud mama pulled out her phone and took a picture before the moment could end. “Everyone should hug Ash when they get the chance, honestly. Her hugs are like magic.”

"Claudia, you're one of the few people that I'll never complain about dragging me away from my work, because you'll always have a great adventure planned. So, what is the adventure today?"
"That's the wonderful thing about kids; they pick up on what we set up for them, and then surpass us with what they know. I sure hope one day they adopt my prowess with the skill crane. I don't know if I ever shared this with you, but I'm abnormally talented at the crane game. And this isn't a technopathy thing; remember that one time that black light wave knocked out everyone's superpowers for twenty four hours? I went to the boardwalk to test it out. I was still able to do it."
Claudia smirked. “You, my love, are full of surprises. I’ve always been pretty good with spree ball. It’s the only reason why I got that Beebo that’s in the playroom. Josh didn’t exactly have the budget for toys like that after it was just us.”
"That...is really hot..." he smiled. "So I'm pretty sure my ability works even better when I'm using it to the benefit of a loved one, so you find a crane game with something you want, then baby you're going home with it."
Claudia grinned and then gripped his hand in hers before opening a portal to an alleyway just outside of the bar. “How about you show me and I’ll show you?”
He purred as he kissed her cheek. "Gladly. You look for a thing that catches your eye and I'll work my magic."
Claudia looked inside of the claw machine, and her eyes lit up when she saw the perfect item. “There’s a Baby Groot right under that Stitch. His arm is barely sticking out enough for the claw to catch it.”
"Oh let's see now..." he muttered calculating the approach and put in the credits to begin the game.
He moved the crane in a loop around the field, building up speed and sway as the direction suddenly changed and the claw was dropped, knocking aside the Stitch and grasping the little hand of Groot, lifting him up delicately with the dexterity of a pair of chopsticks gripping a single grain of rice longways.
Claudia watched with a look of awe on her face as her husband deftly retrieved Groot, and as soon as the toy had been safely retrieved she pulled Tyson in for a quick kiss. “That might have been the hottest thing you’ve ever done out of the bedroom.”

Claudia had shown up at Tyson’s work dressed in her shirt that had Pikachu dressed as Starlord, a pair of jeans, and a leather jacket. It was going to be her Cowboy Bebop shirt she’d worn back before they’d started dating, but an incident involving Ash and baby powder had forced her to change at the last minute. “There’s a retro arcade I found that also serves food and drinks, and they have anime themed karaoke too. How’s that for an adventure, babe?”
"Oh baby, you're making me fall in love with you all over again!" he beamed. The best part of Anime themed karaoke: the ending themes to the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure seasons could also be utilized. "Okay, if they have the X-Men arcade cabinet with the double wide screen, we have to do that first." It was lucky that his parents were available at the last minute to babysit Ash and Ripley, since Danielle was already out on a hot date.
Claudia beamed and kissed Tyson’s cheek. “I knew you’d love it. According to the website, they have it and just about every classic game I could think of. Did I mention that they also have comic book trivia? I swear, it’s like someone designed the place for us.”
Tyson smiled kissing Claudia in return. "Sounds like our kind of place. I may not be as up to speed with comics as I used to be, but I do know a lot of the classics and the characters, so that should be enough to get us through several of the rounds. It'll also be a fun place to bring the kids when they get old enough. I know Ripley would be unstoppable if we get them a step stool."
Claudia beamed. “Then between the two of us we might manage a win. As for the kids, I have a feeling that Ash and Ripley will end up destroying any records we set, especially with how clever they both are. I still don’t know how Ash managed to put on music yesterday using my phone.”
It was February 14th, Valentine's Day, when the Doctor arrived at Claudia's with flowers and chocolates and another small gift box in hand. He told her he'd take her on a Valentine's Day date and already had a good location in mind when he knocked on her door.
Claudia answered the door wearing a purple halter top, a somewhat short skirt, and thigh high boots. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Doc. Where’s today’s adventure going to be.” She moved in to give him a tight hug, smelling of cherry blossoms.
The Doctor hugged her back. "I found a planet that's entirely red with red grass and red skies and pink heart shaped rocks. It seems like the perfect place for a picnic for Valentine's Day."
Claudia beamed, kissing the Doctor on the cheek. “That sounds absolutely perfect, even if it is a bit cheesy. Then again, if it isn’t cheesy, is it even Valentine’s Day?”
