Eight Funny Queen Facts You May Never Have Known About
Queen were booked to play the Cavern Club on October 31st, 1970. With a few hours the band had to kill, they went to go see a movie, but this wasn’t any normal movie. Turns out, it was a low-budget pornography movie. According to Barry Mitchell, the actions and dialogue were so desperate, the band were laughing louder than knee-slapping red-necks. They were eventually kicked out the theatre.
Queen were once involved in a high speed van chase and chased out of town during a 1971 Cornish tour (August 14th, RAF Culdrose show).
Before a show, Roger completely dyed his hair green before a show, after a botched dyeing job. The rest of the crew were caught up at a different airport checking out a sex shop (Ludwigsparkstadion, Saarbrücken, Germany, August 18th, 1979)
In a Striling University concert hall in which Queen were performing which also held up to 500 people, a riot broke out. Freddie ended up whacking beer bottles with his microphone stand and becoming more of a damn MLB player with every hit. The police were called in the end of the riot though, and Queen had retreated to the backstage kitchen by then. (March 16th, 1974)
Roger had grown a moustache in October 1970 that looked like 1980 Freddie’s moustache because people kept mistaking him as a woman.
During one show, Freddie had fallen on his arse from attempting a high kick and got a hot dog with ketchup thrown in his face (Birmingham, November 27th, 1973)
Apparently Brian got cat called by a few audience members that got in a dressing room while he changing preparing for a show. They came in and started saying “I can see you Brian May!”, I feel like that’s something John or Roger would do lmao (March 1974)
Queen had to stop one show about 2 and a half minutes in due to a power failure (March 12th, 1974, Dagenham Roundhouse, London)
