I finally finished priory of the orange tree! now that it’s done, here’s what I think:
rating: 500/5 stars would give up my soul to read for the first time again
characters: amazing. fully fleshed out, all feel like real people rather than plot devices
relationships: an incredible mix of familial, platonic, and romantic
plot: yes yes yes. the characters all had their moments, and it was a well paced story that wasn’t boring at all
worldbuilding: amazing. the religions and politics were so well done, and they all weren’t just copies of existing religion systems. the politics were detailed and complex
overall writing style: Samantha Shannon is a fucking sorceress with words. everything sentence was crafted and I could almost SEE everything going on
