I very clearly don't speak for everyone in this matter, but for those who need to hear this:
I'm not mad at you for making noise in a public place.
If your baby's crying, that's fine. Babies cry. We all did it. It's the cost of people existing at all.
If your friend is talking really loud to you in the waiting room, that's fine. Not everyone is in perfect control of their voice volume all the time. Don't stress.
If you forgot to turn your ringer off in the movie, that's unfortunate, but you know what? I'm glad you showed up. It's fun to watch a movie with other people.
If you're on your phone on speaker at the store, I'm listening in, but I'm not mad at you.
If you're watching a video out loud, I'm not gonna lie, I probably wish you weren't doing that, but I'm not angry at you. I don't want you dead. I'm still happy to share this space.
It's good to be considerate of shared spaces, and noise can be a good thing to be considerate about, but just to be very clear, I'm glad to be sharing a space with you. If you're not using it to be cruel or hateful to anyone around you, I'm glad you're here.
I'm not mad about your dad's car radio at the gas station, I'm not mad about your dog barking, I'm not mad about your baby crying, I'm not mad about your kid talking loud, I'm not mad about your shoe squeaking, I'm not mad if you whistle, I'm not mad if you hum, you're literally fine.
And again, it's clear I don't speak for everyone, and it's good to be considerate about people's mileage for distractions (especially depending on the setting), but I don't feel any resentment when I go out in public and find the public there, and I don't want anyone feeling unsafe or anxious thinking everyone around them is mad at them or hates them.
You're fine. I'm glad you came.
