I’ve been making a lot of vases
Ok that’s enough mushroom factory for now
My sister asked if I could make her a large vase, and with much over confidence I said yes. This vase is the largest thing I have thrown. It took me over a year of attempts and I learned how to spiral wedge, throw in two parts, throw over 10lbs, how tall something can be to fit in my kiln, and how not to care for a rotator cuff in the process. I’m so happy with how it turned out! 🧡
Mushrooms!
It’s a process to throw, carve, sculpt, and glaze these but they do turn out so good.
Mushroom references: enoki, turkey tail, oyster, and elm oyster
unloaded the kiln today and I just couldn’t wait to get good photos before posting so here’s a video I love how the glaze turned out

This cup and its friends: tee hee don’t tell her
Anyway porcelain dinosaur fossil cup. I wanted it to look like a fossil in the side of a cliff face. Carving around that underglaze transfer was one of the most fiddly things I’ve done to decorate a cup. It’s got a bad crack in the bottom so it’s mine (oh noooo).

I had a lot of good stuff come out of this firing but this pomegranate inspired vase has been a favorite through the whole process.
Made this locked tomb hanger as a proof of concept, and I like it! The thought is to make something more accessible than the mugs, although I’m not sure it was much less work
