When you were a complex teenager struggling with emotional vulnerability and a complicated relationship with the traumatized main character(s) and you were one of the driving forces of the main plot who was pretty well written and engaging only for everything to get thrown to the wind and almost every single thing about you gets stripped down, ignored, or rearranged until you’re so irritating and stupid to the general audience that everyone hates you and the hate has consequences irl and the plot unironically hinged on you being Not That and along with your lobotomy the plot descended into absolute randomness with a wide range of new, one-off characters, that came from the minds of Weird Loser Men who think they’re geniuses and you’re mostly non-existent for the rest of the show even though, again, your deep complicated relationship with the struggling main character(s) should’ve been a primary plot point. Everyone thinks you’re a deeply selfish, unintelligent, clinically insane person with no emotional depth instead of pointing at the writer/director(s) and being like “hey you’re weird for that especially when you consider how meaningful the og characterization of the character was”… Also, season 3 has an absurd amount of coke ads and the sudden aesthetic changes really makes it seem like the creators ripped off someone else and ran out of materials from the people they ripped off

Just discovered One Wheat Mark… how on earth did some dude who was making fun of bylers and did a whole comic strip centered on extremely mischaracterized versions of Mike and Will have a deeper more genuine confession scene than the multi million dollar show… like damn. I do find it funny that they even took Mike Wheeler’s curls that were only freed in s4 when he was inching closer to a strong personal identity outside of what is decidedly “normal”. They said no, not even your hair can look good. Stay repressed on every level and cry about it.

Oh okay so the child plot was genuinely useless. They could’ve had just Max be stuck there alone while the mindflayer sucked the life out of Hawkins itself and focused on Jane/Max/Henry instead of introducing 12 fucking characters nobody cares about. They wasted the majority of screen time on Holly and Derek while their entire main cast stayed underdeveloped… awesome work. They didn’t even lean into nor discuss the grooming/SA allegory or anything. They literally just did that for no reason except for funsies.

Learning more about what Will’s actor has been saying in panels and stuff… and how the Duffers have been responding to him… oh my god they genuinely hate that kid and Will Byers. They fully expected him, and the queer ppl watching the show, to sit there and be grateful for the fact Will Byers even exists and got screen time… Jesus Christ these dudes are evil

Remember how Charlie Heaton had to ask the Duffers for the scene with Jonathan and Will in the pizza parlor in s4. Remember when Maya Hawke and Joe Keery had to ask for Robin to be a lesbian and for that coming out scene. Remember how Noah had to ask for some semblance of closure for Will and Mike… Yikes dude.

I actually cannot believe they did that to Mike Wheeler. Couldn’t even let him say I love you to anybody or go to college. The writers had him do jack shit the entire season, only giving him screen time to screw the character over even more. Absolutely abysmal writing.
