if you have artists you love + think i would vibe with i am humbly requesting names... i have to look at slop and dogshit all day long so i need to reinvigorate my brain with creativity and inspiration and technique and style and skill. please.

#i can't express to you enough that i work at the slop machine. it's so draining and demoralizing and it drives me crazyyyy #when i quit i am going to build a life where i never have to look at an ai generated image ever fucking again!!!!!!!!!#to be clear. i'm not the one generating them. i just have to fix them because they look stupid and bad.#my job description could just be guy who fixes ai images so they can be printed #saves time for everybody else to ask chatgpt to make a logo but it only adds to my day.... it adds to my day....................

yeah, trying to get back into painting and linocut and ink and making more original art means i've actually been thinking about this a lot!

egon schiele, louise bourgeois, janet fish, rae klein, jonathan wateridge, and salman toor are all artists i've been getting a lot of inspiration from at this moment in time and just in general.

cathy lu, victoria reynolds, h.r. giger, julia soboleva, caitlin mccormack, mark krzepis, jamiu agbok, hyman bloom, mark laver are some of my other favorites, new and old

ah thanks so much! and i will definitely be doing more, i was surprised they sold out so quickly.

i'm thinking of doing them in batches, open slots on thursday/friday so i have the weekend to work on the majority of them and then finish the rest throughout the week. at least, while i'm still at my job. once i quit i can maybe open the floor to more comms and more complex commissions, original characters, backgrounds, couples, etc etc etc. my boss really pissed me off today so i'm going to quit sooner rather than later. fingers crossed.

and not to give too much of a peek behind the curtain (into my deepest insecurities) but i want to get back into the groove of commissions and i need to train myself into remembering that someone commissioning me specifically is someone who likes my work. i get so in my head that i'm not delivering exactly what they had in their own head that i start second guessing and reworking and tying my hands behind my back and!! i shouldn't do that. one: i'm torturing myself and two: it makes for worse art. i need to do what i do and trust my instincts and hopefully it resonates. that's a big reason for these simple character portrait commissions and i'm grateful people are interested in them :^]

i want to get back into traditional media and painting film posters seems like a fun way to do that so i made a list on letterboxd of potential films to design posters for. if you have any suggestions i'd love to hear them!

separately i've also made a general watchlist so i can organize the recommendations i get into one place.... i'll probably still slap a poll on you guys once a week to help me pick which movie to watch, but i'm an indecisive little prince what can i say.
